[Closed] Tearful Moments in Narnia...

"I saw it begin," said the Lord Digory. "I did not think I would live to see it die."
"Sirs," said Tirian. "The ladies do well to weep. See, I do so myself. I have seen my mother's death. What world but Narnia have I ever known? It were no virtue, but great discourtesy, if we did not mourn."

(emphasis mine)

My guess, is that Tirian wasn't really referring to his mother, but more to the country (and world) that he came from. I mean, imagine that you were realising that you'd have to say goodbye to everything and everyone you had ever known. We find it hard to say goodbye to Narnia, and to us it's just a story. (a very real feeling story, but one nonetheless) But to the last king, it was his home. So, if it hits us this hard to see it end... imagine what it was like for him. And that might help clear up that bit.

Oh, that part. Now I remember. I agree, I don't think Tirian was speaking of his actual mother; he was referring to his mother-country. I always assumed that his mother died when he was young and so he wasn't as attached to her as he was to his father, which is why his father is the one that greets him at the gate.

I admit I dislike the Last Battle, not the book, just the parts when people die, like Roonwit and the tree.
In Prince Caspian, I wanted to cry when they played "The Call" in the end because it must have been so sad for Peter and Susan to leave Narnia forever, especially because of the whole Susan/Caspian thing.

I think the 3 where I cry is in VDT when Reep "dies" or as he like to call it "finding Aslan's country." In LWW I always cry when Aslan dies. :(( and i think in LB i cry when everyone meets up again at the very end. But i think those tears were always for joy :) Im sure i have more but those are the ones that i could think of off the top of my head. lol ;)

^Ditto Libby! I was just coming here to type the same thing ;)

Saying good-bye to Edmund and Lucy in VDT was very hard and tearful for me because they are my favorite Pevensie's :(

Tearful moments... is when the Copy of Narnia was destroyed, or somewhat other definition you might call it, because they were entering a new one. I mean, I really am going to miss it because that's where it all happened. Epic Battles, great kings and queens... oh well, it still is an amazing story.

When i was about seven i was sitting in my room on my window sill reading the end of The last Battle for the first time, as soon as i read the part when peter says: "Queen Susan is no longer a friend of Narnia" and: "shes only interested in lipsticks and nylons and invitations" I felt so sad (I think that was the first time i could ever even begin to comprehend what it might be like to go to hell) and it was awful, i liked Susan

I know, it makes me all sad, and I get a lump in my throat

I cried when in LB king Tirian says "So Narnia is no more" :(( I couldn't help it, I thought 'it can't get worse than this' but then when the Dwarves shoot all the horses I cried even more :((
