Yes, there's a quote from him somewhere that says

No book is worth reading at the age of ten is not equally (or better) worth reading at the age of fifty and beyond.

My thoughts exactly.

I was 42, and they are still special...

Very impressive! Glad you still enjoy them!

I was also older than most people here when I first read them (sometime in my mid-20s, upon the recommendation of an old friend from high school). In many ways they've become even more special over the years as I come to more deeply appreciate both the stories and the spiritual truths they contain.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

I was 5, I think, when my dad read me LWW, and received a complete set for Christmas that year or the next, I think. And then read them, although I don't have any memory of those readings at all.

Then I had a phase where I didn't read them for years, I think.. and about 2 years ago (pre-PC movie :p )I finally started picking them up again, and now I read them all the time.

Avie by flambeau.

I was six when the moive for LWW came out. Because I needed to read some books for a project, my mom got me the book. About a year later I found the audio book box set for the CoN. They are still, and in a way more special than when I first read them.

I was thirteen when first I read the books, though I'd listened to the BBC audio tapes at a VERY young age (and promptly forgot they existed) and got some of the FotF dramas at age 12.

Goodness, I feel like quite the late bloomer comparing myself to all your Narnian infancies.

I was 10 when I first read them, and boy was I hooked! Later after LotR came out I thought 'if they can do *that* for LotR I hope they do Narnia! They'll make it *awesome*!' And look, LWW turned out great, PC was okay... :(( and VotDT looks simply *superb* And I'm in the middle of reading TCoN again! =) Narnia rules!

Man, been about 10 years since I've read the LWW for the first time... 'my! my! time flies! one step and we're on the moon, next step into the stars...' *blinks* I hope no one tells *me* I'm too old for Narnia! :((

:music: risk it all cuz I'll catch you if you fall... if my heart was a house you'd be home :music:

This is one question I quite wish I could answer. I'm pretty sure LWW was first read to me in '96, when I was four.

The first time i read the books I was about eleven or twelve. I was at school and we watched the animated movie when I was about 9 or ten and I loved it. It took me about eight months to realize that it was based on books.

He He He. I laugh because I had a first attempt to read The Chronicles that failed miserably. Miserably. I think I was about ... eight. I'd grown up - well up to the age of eight - watching the BBC films and figured 'Hey, I'll read the books!'. I was not a big reader at the time, for some unmemorable reason I decided to read 'The Magician's Nephew' first - bad idea. I didn't have a clue what was going on and I gave up very quickly, all I can remember from reading it at that point was these two kids were climbing from one end of a terrace to another through the attic. :-?

I tried again when I was twelve, with much more success. I read all seven of them. That was about *does calculation x_x oh dear* three years before the first film came out. It was only after LWW came out on DVD that I bought my own copy of all of the books, I've read them all a few times each now.

I was introduced to the Narnia Series at the advice of a Pastor i my mid-twenties.
Unfortunatly, as an avid reader of many subjects I can honestly say that I have only read the series twice. I did read A Horse, and His Boy a few years back. But I have had the misfortune of misplacing my set among my library-in-a-box :(

I was in sixth grade when I was first introduced to Narnia. As a class we read of an excerpt of LWW, but I did not remember this until I read LWW myself for the first time. I was eighteen and trailers for the first film sparked my interest. I am currently rereading LB.
