As we change over to HobbitWeb, we thought it would be a good idea to start a reading group for "The Hobbit" before the movie comes out in December!

Before we proceed, we want to get your opinions on when the reading group should start and what should it cover?

For this poll, please choose 1 answer for when it should start and 1 answer for what it should cover.

And add any thoughts or comments as well.

Looking forward to reading and discussing! :)

I vote we start on the 26th; and I also say we should start off with a party.

Ah, a party! I should have mentioned that; I just assumed everyone knew we would start with a party!

I thought the having a party for a book might be one of my singular quirks. ;)) On the other hand, we are hobbits. ;)) So, no worries. ;)

Parties... /:)

I hate parties. At least when they're thrown by hobbits.

I shall have to consider this.

A party, woohoo!

Can we come once, then go out the back way, and come in again by another gate? ;;)

I voted for starting the Reading Group on the honourable birthday of my two employers, Frodo and Bilbo Baggins, September 22nd, for what better time than a birthday to have a PARTY?!!

Fili, I can almost guarantee hobbit parties are of some significance! :D

Well, yes, that may be true, but are they comparable to the parties that we dwarves throw? This is something to consider. And to give you a hint, I'll tell you that no, hobbit parties are no match for dwarf parties.

Pah... Parties... Just Wait until we take over the world! Then you'll have something to party about!

There are no parties that can compare with hobbit parties! Never have been, never will be!

I beg to differ, my fair sir Bolger. On the contrary, it has been a long-held secret that dwarves throw the best parties in Middle-earth. My apologies if this discovery upsets you all too much.

So, if a dwarf were to hold the party for the reading group, what sorts of things might we expect? :-

EDIT: I suppose that question goes for gremlins as well, since I know nothing about them.

I don't think I could even begin to tell you, but for your sake, I shall try. Massive amounts of food. A ping-pong table. Glorious dancing. And the biggest disco ball you could ever want. Jealous yet?

Can I come to the party? I know I'm not yet in my tweens, but I would love to see the fireworks! Will there be fireworks like at Mr. Bilbo's party?
