Here is a Reepicheep drawing I did based off of the new picture we got of him a few days ago.
The first one is just the sketch and the second one is the same except I added a little color to his feather and golden band around his ear.
Comments and Criticism are very much appreciated, Thanks!

Great Reepicheep drawing 7chronicles. Hmm, I personally prefer the version without the color. Adding a slight coloration is a nice idea, but I don't think it works for this piece. Mainly because all the color is at the top, so immediately my eye goes to the bright red and I don't really take notice of the other details. In contrast to that, the eye is lead throughout the entire greyscale piece. I know this wasn't your own pose setup, but notice how the feather and Reep's tail shape and direction pull the eye down through his midsection while the angle of his rapier and belt take the eye the rest of the way through the piece. This is much more effective than the immediate color. I mean you could do a third version and color the entire piece, but I do like to notice the detail in the linework when just in pencil. It's a toss-up though.
I really like all the detail you have done in your linework. It really gives Reepicheep's fur some volume and makes it feel believable. The detail in the rapier hilt also looks great. Lighting and shading levels are working well together. Hmm, I can't say for sure, because I don't have your reference image in front of me, but some of the anatomy looks a little off. I'm going to mention a couple of things, just from a first glance look and not necessarily what was from the photo. At first glance, the toes on his feet almost look like hands (I'm not sure if you need to lengthen the "thumbs" or if the toes do indeed appear that way). Also, his left hand looks a little uncomfortable. Again, I don't have the reference in front of me, but it just may be the way the foreshortening is. I'd definitely go back and double check the proprtions and you can go ahead and correct me if I'm wrong . Nice work on both variations .

Thanks Lion's Emblem for taking the time to really look at it! I see your point about adding the color at the top of the picture, I'll take that advise next time I choose to do another color picture!
I went ahead and put my picture and the one I copied by each other to more easily compare it.
I think his feet look funny because he is standing on the lettering in the picture I copied, but please tell me if it still looks off.
I was staring at this picture a long time as I was drawing it, so a fresh pair of eyes would definitely help me out.

Well, maybe his feet look a little off... But I'm not really much of a critic. I think it's wonderful!! Great job! I love the tenderness of the lines that make up his fur, and the gentle expressiveness in his eyes. It's obvious you put a lot of love and care into it! Now I want to see more of your work... lol!

@Lady Courage:Thanks, it means a lot that you took the time to look at it!
I want to draw some more picture for VDT, I’ve just got to wait for some more pictures to come out for me to draw.

Oh good! Then I'll be on the lookout when more pics come out.

Ah, thanks for the comparison image 7chronicles, it really helps. Yes, I see what you mean by the lettering and Reep's feet. Actually, his feet appear even more "handlike" in the photo. So, in that sense, I think you've got the feet right. Hmm, I suppose that since there's no lettering in your drawing (and thank you for not putting it there), you could try to remodel his feet to be more fitting (particulary on his left foot). Don't be afraid to deter from your reference photo. I know you're probably all said and done with this piece, but I think a slight change on the positioning of his left foot would make it feel as if he is standing on stable ground (mainly the angle on the foot, not necessarily changing its shape). You've put in some much detail in the shading and fur, it just seems so fitting to do the same with his standing. I hope that helps a bit.

An absolutely brilliant and stunning drawing! The attention to details is breathtaking, the fur is positively rufflable (lol, I bet that's not even a word), and the proportions are impeccable! The shading is very subtle and actually a part of his fur, rather than 'artificially' added layer of pencil, and I must say that while there are naturally some differences between the original picture and drawing, I like your version much more. Reep just seems more alive, has a gleam of soul and personality in his eyes, while the shape of his head and nose is much more to my liking, altered delicately. I like the colourless version more, by the way, but only because I never was a fan of 'colour splash' effect, I think it takes away from the pencilwork... I like a good balance of pencil and colour, or wholly colour, or wholly pencil
Once again, amazng job!

7Chronicles, I've got to hand it to you: You're a great artist. I wasn't expecting to click that link and actually see something of quality- too many artists have drifted towards comic work or manga and to find someone who actually appreciates sketching and excels at it is wonderful.
That said, I have to agree with everyone on the color effect. I don't think it works out well with the black and white drawing, as it detracts from rest of the photo. However, a full color version might be something to see.
To critique the drawing itself is a hard task. As I said you did a great job. Two areas I would work on, though small, are the tail (it looks a tad curved wrong) and the sword hilt.
Have you taken a look at Pauline Baynes work?
@Lion’s Emblem: Thanks for taking a second look! I’ll see about maybe changing the foot, I think it’s a good Idea! If time permits me I’ll go back and see what I can do.
@Beginte: Thanks so much! I did noticed that my picture was a little different from the original when I put them side by side, I’m glad you like mine even though it differs from the picture! And I’m also glad you feel I captured his character, that means so much to me!
@ericnovak: Thank You! That means the world to me! I love to sketch! My two favorite artists are John Howe and Alan Lee their drawings blow me away, I hope to one day be able to have the skill to draw with the detail they do (God Willing) , I’m thankful that God has given me a love for art!
I see what you mean about the tail and the sword hilt, Thank You so much for taking the time to look at it!
I Love Pauline Baynes Narnia illustrations, though I haven’t really seen anything else of hers, I would love to be able to color they way she did the Narnia books!
Thanks so much again to everyone!!!!

Excellent work! I really like how realistic the fur looks, and how you have paid so much attention on details (the sword belt, sword, the nose, whiskers, "fingers"...). The feather looks amazing, and it's hard to draw. The eyes are very dark compared to the rest of the mouse and draw attention to the face. They also seem to somehow show Reepicheep's personality ! I know nothing about a mouse's anatomy, so I can't say anything about it, but as a picture it looks very good . I prefer the colored one, but they're both good.

Thanks so much Mehinen!
I’m really glad you like the fur, I think it’s the best fur drawing I’ve done so far.
Usually the fur I draw comes across very straw like so I’m very glad you like the way it looks!
And I’m also glad you like the eyes I love to draw eyes!
