[Closed] VDT Quote in Calligraphy

Hi everyone!

Our art class recently did a calligraphy project, where we each chose something to write in calligraphy. I chose a quote from VDT, which happens to be my favorite Narnia quote. :D

Normally calligraphy isn't my strong-point - I much prefer drawing. But I thought you guys might like to see how it turned out.

http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/3786/vdtcaligraphy.png

It reads:

Except from
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
by C. S. Lewis

"Are you there too, Sir?"
said Edmund.
"I am," said Aslan. "But
there I have another
name. You must come
to know me by that
name. This was the
very reason why you were
brought to Narnia, that
knowing me here for a
little, you may know
me better there."

Like I said, I don't normally do calligraphy. But comments and criticism are always welcome. :)

Hey Silver,

Very nice work. My writing is terrible. I'm impressed with your efforts.

:x Beautiful!

I'm going to assume you used a pen instead of a calligraphy marker? In my experience, as pretty a result as one can get with the marker, the pen is just classier all around. And this--this is elegant. The delicate trailing off of the letters, and the font fits the quote so well... I love it!

The writing does look a little cockeyed to me. Not sure if that's the camera angle or not though... But if it is, it looks otherwise even so that you could rotate the paper and trim the edges to straighten it out if you were so inclined. :)

That's amazing Silver. I too have horrible handwriting, although I would like to learn how to write in caligraphy some day.

Wow, that's amazing!
I didn't get it at first, haha. I was like, "So you typed up a passage on the computer and printed it out. So what?" And then I was like, "Wait, Calligraphy?" Then I realized you had actually written that, not typed it out on the computer and printed it out.

Amazing!

This is lovely. I actually like to do calligraphy too... but you're way better. I'm jealous. ;)

Anywho, the part of this I like best is the swirly flourishes on the letters. And your S in Sir was very pretty. :) I'm constantly expirimenting with new fonts, so I may use this.

Thanks for posting; I enjoyed it!

*Gasps* That is beautiful! Oh, what I'd do to be able to write like that! :D

The quote you picked is very nice. But the font in which you printed it, and how nice and neat it is! It's just gorgeous! :) It really reminds me of how those who live in Narnia would write. The royalty and such. It's truly Narnian! You did a really good job!

Thanks so much, Windsong! :D

Meltintalle, yes I did use a pen for this. Which explains some of the ink blotches I had to scratch off with a razor blade. Oops. ;)) And I did notice that it seems to be a little, erm, tilted. I suspect I might have put my guide lines on a slight angle. But yes, trimming the edges would solve that problem quite nicely. It's a good thing I mounted it to the yellow paper with rubber cement, so it'll come back off easily. Thank you for your compliments! :)

Thank you 7chronicles, wolfloversk, and Riella! My handwriting isn't always like this, I promise. :p

Thanks Tarkheena! The alphabet I used looks a lot like this one here, if you're interested to know. :)

And thank you, lover of narnia! Really, I'm tickled that so many of you like it! If I ever make any more Narnia calligraphy, I'll be sure to put them up.

You have very nice handwriting. Mine always looks like chicken scratch.

I think its beautiful. Maybe you should consider sticking it onto a nice backround or something. Good job. :)

And yes, you should consider putting up more calligraphy. I think we would all enjoy that. =]

This is very beautiful, Silver the Wanderer! I love the style of the letters and the details on many of them. I love writing calligraphy myself! I also love, love, love the quote you selected to write...it gave me chills just reading it again. :)

That's positively wonderful, Silver the Wanderer! I, too, enjoy dabbling in calligraphy, and the capital "N" you scripted for the word Narnia immediately caught my eye. Absolutely gorgeous, and all very cleanly executed. Well done!
