Eustace vs. Sea Serpent
Hb and 2b pencil
Just a quick sketch after seeing the newest trailer. I think it has inconsistent lighting, and if the mast is actually centered the Dawn Treader would be pretty narrow.
Enjoy! Other thoughts and criticisms welcome.

I enjoy all your illustrations Meltintalle! All your lines simply flow!! I love Reep in this one! He's so determined looking! Nice picture!!

:music: risk it all cuz I'll catch you if you fall... if my heart was a house you'd be home :music:
Oh I love it! That must have taken a while! I love the way you added so much detail to the ship and the waves! I also love the expressions on Reep's and Eustace's faces! Reep's is determined while Eustace's is more like a "What am I doing?!" sort of expression! Good work!

Check the gate, Watch yourself! Check the gate, show m' what ya got! And check! Love it Skandar and Georgie!
This is lovely work, Meltintalle! The details, coloring, and the scene are all portrayed so well. I like the angle you drew it from, since it displays only part of the sea serpent and focuses on Eustace's & Reepicheep's reactions. I particularly love the way you drew Reepicheep-his sword and overall look are so realistic! Very nice!

I love that picture! Great job! That's one of the best parts of the book, in my opinion.
You're a very good artist. Did you learn how to do it in art school, or is it all raw, natural talent?
It's amazing!

Awesome drawing Meltintalle, Your lines are perfect and the facial expressions are spot on!
I also think you did great on the angle of the drawing as well!
Your drawings remind me of storybooks, which I Love!

Neat! I love the many details in your drawing and the perception of it! I think it is beautiful, great job!

Thank you, Doe, Pepper, Narnian Dreamer, and Quinlin! I was hoping Reep looked determined and maybe a little speculative, like he's just figured out what needs to be done to defeat the serpent. I think it probably took three hours to draw, not counting the thumbnails to figure out the angle.
Eustace + Jill, it's one of my favourite scenes as well! I've taken a few art classes, but I think a lot of it is just practice, practice, practice.
Aw, thank you Seven Chronicles! I love storybook drawings as well.
Thank you, DamselJillPole!

Wow Meltintalle, great job! Like others have said, I really like the angle you drew it from. Perspective is a tricky thing. I love the detail on the mast!

What a cute Reepicheep (though I can't figure just how he's holding his sword) !
I like how the sea serpent looks actually round, not flat. The details on the ship are great, as are Eustace's clothes. But isn't Eustace's head a little too large, compared to the rest of him? I know that he is physically rather weak, but still the body could be a little larger or the head a tiny bit smaller. But I really like the drawing, especially Reepicheep's feather, the sea and the ship . And most of all the 3-D look of the serpent!

Thanks, Silver.
Mehinen, Reep's sword is still on his belt, which is invisible behind his shoulder and under his fur... I think Eustace's neck is too long, thus making his head look bigger than it actually is; also there was supposed to be a bit of foreshortening going on. If one looks at it in proportion to his hands, which are supposed to cover... 3/4 of the face, heel of palm to chin and fingertip to forehead... I think it works. Maybe. What do you think? Thanks for pointing it out and making me think about what's going on there.
