For all you people out there who couldn't enjoy the second trailer due to all the heinous plot changes, I created a version of the the international trailer without any indication of major plot changes.
Answers to some questions you might have:
The song I used was "Conviction" by Groove Addicts. It was also used for part of the VDT trailer that appeared on the Diary of a Wimpy Kid DVD.
I mirrored all the clips that I could because I found that when I watch clips mirrored, they look very different it feels like I'm watching them for the first time. I wanted to recreate that in my fan trailer, so that the clips you see look different than you've ever seen them.
The sound is different than the original VDT trailers because since I was using a new song, I couldn't include the original sound effects of the clips in almost every case. So, I had to recreate them as best I could using free sound clips online and modifying them. This was what took by far the longest.
I have to admit, I'm okay with plot changes, as long as the characters themselves are still the ones I love. Don't kill me!
That aside, however, your version of the trailer was still hugely impressive! The sound effects you re-did were perfect -- I could hardly hear the difference.
December can't get here soon enough!

I really like this! It just felt so... right. I loved the music you used. The way you laid it out seemed fresh, different, and new, probably due to the way you mirrored the clips. That definitely added a new perspective, and I really liked that. This trailer renewed my excitement for the movie in a way that I haven't had since we've had all these weird trailers coming out.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not as much of a book purist as I could be. I enjoyed PC in spite of the changes and I'm positive about VDT. But I definitely like this trailer a lot in comparison. Don't ask me why.

That's really great, MinotaurforAslan! The music you chose fits the trailer well. I would say you certainly attained your goal, this is exactly the sort of trailer a book-purist would get excited about (and I'm 85% purist myself). The editing from one scene to the next was a bit choppy in places, but other than that, marvelous job!

Loved it! Great job adding the sound effects. They fit perfectly with the shots and the music. The transition between clips was very smooth. You did an awesome job integrating all the parts together! And I loved the epic feel that you gave the trailer.
Hmm, maybe Fox should hire you as their advertising agent!

I love it! Great editing, too! If I hadn't known better, I would have thought it was the real trailer! (Some audio problems, but that's not your fault. )
Question: Where did you get those clips of Eustace and the dragon gold, as well of the scenes with Caspian and Edmund on the rocky cliffs? I don't remember that from the original trailer...did I miss something?
Love it! I feel excited for the movie now!

Nice trailer MinotaurforAslan. This is a trailer that makes me actually want to see VDT and not be worried (as compared to the "official" trailers). Editing and flow of clips works well. Personally, I would like to hear a bit more dialogue spoken, just so it feels more like a trailer rather than a string of clips or fan trailer (I like that Aslan's dialogue is included, I just want to hear a bit more spoken). However, the balance of SFX works really well and you have done a superb job in syncing up your "found" sounds (I couldn't make a distinct notice of a difference to the real thing). The pacing of clips with the music also works out pretty nicely (with starting off a bit "calm" and working up through intense moments of the clips). Nice work .

I got those clips from the Focus on the Family Dawn Treader themed mini-VBS. It had some exclusive clips from the movie.

I agree - I wish I could have had more dialogue. The problem is that almost all of the dialogue in the trailers has music playing in the background, and it sounds weird when I place that on top of different music. I haven't figured out yet if it's possible to edit out background noise.
However, the balance of SFX works really well and you have done a superb job in syncing up your "found" sounds (I couldn't make a distinct notice of a difference to the real thing).
Thank you! It feels great to know my hard work was appreciated. I got all the sound effects from SoundBible.com.
What program did you use to make it? Just by looking at the picture it's a way different one then what I use! And I know a way to edit out background music and sound but I don't know if it's the same for your program! Great job by the way! I love it!

I love, love, love that trailer!
Did you flip some of the scenes? They look like they are at opposite angles than the originals...

Well, actually, it would be my fault, because I did all the audio work. What audio problems did you notice? (Constructive criticism is always helpful!)

I used Final Cut Express. What program do you usually use?
And I know a way to edit out background music and sound but I don't know if it's the same for your program!
Please tell me how you do it! I might be able to replicate the process on FCE.
Did you flip some of the scenes? They look like they are at opposite angles than the originals...
Yes, I did. I explain why I did this underneath the video in my original post.
Well I normally use Windows Movie Maker but I think I'll try using Final Cut Express! I think I'll take a picture/videotape me taking out the background sounds. It may be easier then explaining how! But if I do videotape it I will still write down the steps! Hopefully that works!

Wow Minotaur, nice job with this!!! Wonderful editing! It looks so professional, and the music really goes with the scenes. I really enjoyed watching this. I wish I could make trailers like this, but my computer's too slow for the software and freezes whenever I try editing videos...haha.
Anyway, awesome trailer!
