Yep, that's right! After seeing so much Silver Chair art on here lately, I decided to draw everyone's favorite wiggle as part of Beginte's Fan Campaign for SC!
I was inspired by the illustrations in a book called Leviathan to try out a new drawing technique. I sketched it out in pencil first, then scanned it and colored digitally using different shades of grey. I think it turned out looking pretty neat (not to mention the greyness sort of adds to his glummy personality ), so I might play around with this technique some more.
I decided to make him fishing for eels, just as he was when Jill and Eustace first met him. He looks somewhat younger than what I was imagining, but I ended up not minding much. And as for the pointy ears...well...I just sort of felt like it.
Comments and criticism are loved! I admittedly am not the greatest at backgrounds, so if anyone has any suggestions, they'd be much appreciated.

I LOVE this picture, Silver! you did an amazing job with it!
See the armies so arrayed,
Line on line, ten thousand strong.
See the Dragon King’s sharp blade,
Rising to a song!
See his enemies laid low!
Hear our voices sing:
Let glory crown the victor’s brow,
In the Hall of the Dragon King!
*Squeee*
I love this. I love everything about this. I love the fact that he looks youngish, his hair and his outfit are cool, and for some reason I really like the way you drew his nose. The only con I see is that his face might not be long enough to match up to Lewis's description, but all in all, this is an awesome drawing. You're amazing.
Hey Sliver,
I really like the detail you put into this drawing. But then again, I always love all your work.
Great job,

Amazing job Silver! I Love it!
The details are awesome, and really Love the detail in his hands!
I also love the scene you chose, that’s the first scene I think of when I think of Puddleglum! Great Job!

wow awesome great job, I really like it, I love the greyness, it really does bring out Puddleglums character
always be humble and kind
I agree, it does look like a young Puddleglum. I like the twinkle in his eye. Much to happy for a proper marshwiggle and I shouldn't wonder if he catches a giant eel and falls in and drowns. Or it'll rain just when he tries to light a fire to cook his dinner...
I like what you did with the colouring. It looks particularly good on Puddleglum. The folds in his clothes are very realistic and give his clothes a feeling of substance. I do think you might have wanted to use a smaller brush for the reeds in the background; they're quite thick and stick-like.
All around, an excellent drawing.

I love it! The grayscale definitely adds to the gloomy feeling of the characters, very nice! And I think the background is just perfect - matches the style in which the character is drawn and just the right amount of detail - enough to make it a particular background, but it doesn't take attention away from Puddleglum He looks perhaps too pleasant, but it's hard to draw a character as perfecly gloomy and brooding as him I really adore it and yay, welcome to the campaign!

Thank you, Elle! I'm glad you like it!
You too, Rose! Thank you! *bows* Haha, you're right about his face, though. It was long(er) before I put his hat on...or then again, maybe it wasn't!
Thank you so much, Windsong!
7, I'm glad you like the scene I chose! That's the first one that comes to mind for me as well, when I think of Puddleglum. Thank you!
Thanks, wild rose! I'm glad you like the greys - I thought they were very Puddleglummy.
Thank you very much, Mel! Now that I think about it, this easily could be a young Puddleglum from before SC! Thanks for the tip about the brush - I was sort of in a hurry to finish up the background. But it'd be easy to go back and redo the reeds if I ever felt like it.
Thanks, Beginte! Yes, emotions are a bit tricky for me yet, something I have to work on. But I'm glad you like the colors and the background! Thank you for letting me join the campaign!

Oh, I think the emotions worked out great, I'm just saying it's hard to draw a face as perfectly gloomy and huffed as Puddleglum's! The background is simply 100% perfect, so well balanced in amount of detail! Oh, it is I who thank you for joining the campaign, I didn't think anyone would

Ah, I see. In that case, yes, I agree. What I meant was that expressions are one of the things I'd like to improve on in general. I had look at so many different reference pictures to get this one to turn out.
Your campaign is a neat idea! Now I just have to think of what to draw next...

Yes, expressions can be tricky sometimes... for me it's odd, in some cases I need reference, and in others, even the most intense expressions, they sort of come out on their own, without any examples for me
Oh, I know, I'm wondering what to draw next, too... apart from coloring my two sketches, the Black Knight and the symbolic drawing. Rilian I will leave as a sketch. Oh, I know - Rilian on Silver Chair (duh ), I just remembered an elderly sketch I made in Photoshop, I'll get to work on it soon!
By the way, the sharpening tutorial for you is ready I hope I managed to be at least somewhat coherent, if there are any doubts just let me know!

Oh wow! this is amazing! I really love the shading, it is so real looking, and I really love your interpretation of Puddleglum. He is a really amazing effort, and the background is perfect, I don't know what you were worrying about
