Wow, it's been forever since I've been around...I need to check in more often!
I had a very slow year for editing trailers last year apparently...it's been forever since I've done anything Narnia! Anyway, I set out to make a trailer fro The Prestige the other day, and ended up making this instead. :)

This is an amazing trailer, 2nd to One! I love the scenes you chose to use throughout! As Aravis Autarkeia already mentioned as well, the music and film clips work wonderfully together! Lovely! :)

That is AWESOME!! :D Your editing is superb, and I LOVE how the music corresponded with each clip and effect. I love your choice of clips, each one really building you up until the end. I had a very exciting feeling after watching it! :D

You must tell me, where did you get your video for it? I've been dying to make some fan vids. :)

Awesome work 2nd to One! :D I Loved it!
That could have easily been a trailer for PC! :)
I Have the music you used and I love it, you combined it so well to the clips! Wonderful job!

Thank you, everybody! It's very encouraging!

lover_of_narnia, I got my video from the dvd. I use a trial of a program called DvDFab to rip the video. :)

7chronicles, I know, Guardians at the Gate is great, isn't it??? I heard it in the trailer for The Conspirator, recently, and knew it sounded really familiar...then it dawned on me, Avatar! :) I watched that trailer, and sure enough, that was the music, so then I went after it. :)

Thanks again, everybody!

Happy New Year!

Nice PC trailer 2nd to One. Overall editing works great. Your strongest bits of editing, I feel, are through sound, both in dialogue and SFX. The most effective: Caspian' line of "taking back what is ours" and then eventaully working to where Caspian drives his sword towards Miraz with just the sound of the sword "slash" on black. If this were released before PC, it would certainly put the idea in one's head of what Caspian did (when you pair the visuals and the dialogue along with the uncertainity of the black screen). This is also a really effective way to end the trailer before moving into the title credit at the end.

On sound, some of the editing does feel a little choppy. On the Caspian note, it's comes off a bit odd to the ear at 40 when Caspian starts his line, is cut off a bit, and then picks it up again. It very much feels like a time cut. Not to mention the line starts off in Georgie/Lucy's section of film before Ben/Caspian's. I would suggest moving the entire line into Caspian's section, even if you have to extend a bit of his footage. Another part that I find odd is Miraz's line at the beginning (04). I think it might be because it jumps right into the titles towards the beginning of the line, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it's just me though.

However, I really like the intercutting between Cornelius telling Caspian what's going on mixed with Miraz being crowned. It just has a sense of "eeriness" to it (and I mean that in a good way) with the line of "Narnia is need of a new king" on black screen. I also like the editing on the main character clips, with their actor portrayal name, followed by a close-up clip and an action clip for the character. This works well showcasing each character. I might add, on Liam Neeson's portion, "as the voice of Aslan", but it's subjective. The editing of clips with the intensity of the music also works really well within these particular clips (as well as the rest of the trailer, I might add).

Nice work .

That was great, especially the part that had Susan's name and as she shot the screen 'shot' to the next name. Very epic!

Pretty epic, 2ndtoOne. Nice job with the structure of the trailer and making some clips fit together, like Peter's line and Trumpkin's "probably".

A few things I would suggest is that when mining shots from the movie, always cut off your clips at least 2 frames from the next shot to prevent shot spillage like at 0:45.

The audio sounds a bit warped because the background music from the movie is playing alongside the score you used for the trailer. There is nothing you can really do about this except to only use dialogue from scenes that have very quiet/no background music.

The white flash was not in the same aspect ratio as the movie. To solve this problem in my fan trailers, I created a blank white image the same aspect ratio as the movie on MS Paint and flashed that on screen for about 2 frames. It works the same as a white flash on a video editor and can help a fan trailer seem more professional if everything is contained inside the same aspect ratio.

The titles also felt too stationary compared to all the movement and exciting music in the rest of the trailers...having them zoom in a little bit can make them much more dramatic.

And I don't mean for my post to look like one big criticism...overall I did like your trailer. I always appreciate it when fan trailer creators take the time to edit competently and produce an interesting and watchable product. :) Those are just some suggestions I have.

Thank you very much, Lucy of Narnia and Narnian_Archer, for the kind words! I'm glad you liked it! :)

Lion's Emblem and MinotaurforAslan, I really appreciate both of your in-depth critiques, a few of the things you pointed out I had noticed, and a few had slipped by. I don't know whether I will do another render of this particular trailer, but your thoughts do give me ample amounts of things to keep in my mind on future editing projects! Let me just say, I have great respect for both of your opinions, and I appreciate your time in pointing these things out!

Happy New Year!
