thank you Windsong, Libby and Narnian_Archer :)

here's a poem written from Susan's point of view, we all know that Susan stopped believing in Narnia and stayed back on earth when her sibling and friends went to New Narnia, now time has passed and one day she stops to think....

Memoirs
The Autumn wind is blowing strong
The october leaves are falling down
And they join the multitudes
That are rotting on the ground

How like the leaves upon the dirt
Are my dreams from yesterday,
Today I've done a dangerous thing
And took a stroll down memory lane

I went back to a world I once knew,
Back to a life that was once mine,
Back to an innocence I once had,
Innocence that was bliss and kind

Back to the days when I was young,
Back when I had the faith of a child,
Back to when I was queen of Narnia,
And was known as gentle, meek and mild

It seems...it seems so long ago,
And indeed, perhaps it was,
Then I was different girl,
And the difference was because...

...was because...

Oh Aslan, tell me, was it because,
Because I had once believed in you?
Were You really always there,
And was Narnia really true?

I had come to think it folly,
I had come to think it child's play
So I threw it from my heart,
When perhaps, I should have let it stay

But now Time has blown away
The leaves and dreams of my youth,
And I wonder could it be,
That I had strayed from the truth?

But now the lane has ended,
And I come back to reality,
And to the life I am living,
And to the person that is me

Yet, a part of me is saying,
'Remember, remember the days of before
'And to look forward to a day,
When hearts will be mended and dreams restored'

('course we will probably never know if Susan started believing in Narnia and Aslan again, but I wanted to end the poem with a note of hope :) )

always be humble and kind

Dear wild rose,

I really enjoyed the rhyme scheme of this poem. I can see Susan watching the autumn sky as she laments the innocence she has lost and the realities of her decisions. Very well written.

Imagine a young mother in Narnia, singing her firstborn to sleep

Winter Lullaby

The wind is howling all around
With it's thin and wailing sound
The snow is blowing in the night
Clothed in eerie, pale white

But you, my treasure, rest your head
As I gently rock your bed
You are safe from winter's charms
Here within my loving arms

The wind may howl, the snow may blow
Yet you needn't fear them so
Sleep, for you are safe inside
From winter's chill and icy pride

The wind may knock upon the window pane
But do not stir, for you are safe
Sleep and listen as I sing
Of the great lion, who is King

He is strong and very wise
With fierce, yet gentle, smiling eyes
And has a golden, flowing mane;
Aslan is his noble name

In Him is all the good and true
That the world had ever knew;
He is highest of all high kings
Son of the Emperor beyond the sea

He is the one who made our land
The forest green and desert sand
He gave the wind its changing song
And taught the birds to sing along

He is the one who gave you day
In which you love to dance and play
And the night is His gift too
Though it is little loved by you

For you, my heart, are still young
And only want to play and run
But you must stop and rest your head
And snuggle in your warm, soft bed

Let the wind howl and howl away
You cannot hear it anyway
For as I lean and kiss your cheek
I see you have drifted off to sleep

sleep my treasure, my heart, my own
And let the wind aimlessly roam
Allow the snow to whip the ground
For you, my child, are safe and sound

always be humble and kind

Hey wild rose,

It is wonderful to read such a heart-felt poem from a mother to child. It adds a deeper dimension to the Narnia world by highlighting the untold stories and bringing them to life. Excellent poem.

A poem to Lucy, who is crying for she just saw Aslan killed by the White Witch

Dearest Child
Sweetest child, dearest one
Wipe away your little tears
Dry you eyes, do not weep
Even though you are young in years

Sweetest chid, dearest one
Trust me, you will soon know why
Why he had to do what he did
Why he had to die

Sweetest child, dearest one
It was for your brother and for you
That he came to this stone table
And sacrificed his life for you

Sweetest child, dearest one
Lift you gentle sad eyes
Look up to the east
Where the sun doth rise

Sweetest child, dearest one
Smile through the tears you cried
Look he has risen from the dead
There He stands, He is alive

Hey wild_rose,

I really enjoyed reading this poem. It reminded me of a lullaby that a mother would lovingly sing to her child. This is one of your best. :)

So this is a poem about a young girl who is in love with a sailor who had chosen a life at sea and has decided never to marry. I'm not too impressed with the poem, I think it could have come out better but my sisters encouraged me to post it so here it is :)

To The Sea
The sun is sinking down below
As I stand by the oceanside
The sea gulls soar overhead
While I watch the rising tide

I listen to the crashing waves
As they beat upon the shore
I drink the salt spray of the sea
And hear the desperate wind that roars

The ship, it sailed far away
Carrying with it the one I love
He sailed to help find the lords
That our king had spoken of

How slow it seemed the weeks have passed
Since the day the ship set sail
And I stand and tell the waves
Of my sad and sorrowful tale

"A sailor must never marry"
Are the words he spoke to me
"For he is married to his ship"
"And his first love is the sea"

And so I watch the waves crash
And they beat upon my soul
He has sailed far away
And never will return I know

Oh his ship will return to Narnia
And he will walk upon our shore
But then the waves will call to him
And he will follow them once more

He had dreamed of a life at sea
Twas what he always wanted to do
And I must be happy for him
That his dream finally came true

I pray that his life is always filled
With gladness and joy
For it is a life he wanted
Ever since he was a boy

I pray that Aslan will keep him
Through the storm and waves
And he will always have faith
To sail onward another day

I can hear the roaring wind
And watch the rising tide
And though I will never be with him
I pray Aslan will be by his side

And I will forever love him
Though he will never return to me
For he is married to his ship
And his first love is the sea

Hey wild_rose,

I really enjoyed reading this poem. I could visualize the image of the DoR standing at the edge of the sea thinking about Caspian. You conceptualize your artistic visions very well.

Bravo!

This poem is from the point of view from the stag who carried the news about Rabadash's invasion of Archenland to Cair Paravel in 'The Horse and His Boy'

Thoughts of the Stag
A boy came from the mountain
And carried with him news of woe
This news must be taken to the king
So off to the palace I will go

I must run as fast as lightning
Like the wind my feet must fly
I must use all my strength and swiftness
If I wish to make it in time

Prince Rabadash of Calormen
Has devised an evil scheme
He will attack Archenland
And wants to kill its king

Then no doubt he will attack
Our beautiful Narnian land
And will steal out beautiful queen
This could be part of his plan

High King Peter I will not find
For he is away at war
The giants of the north he is fighting
They are causing trouble once more

Queen Lucy is at Cair Paravel
I will tell her the news
And she will look to Aslan
About what we should do

Perhaps if Aslan wills
King Edmund will have arrived
And queen Susan will be with him
For Rabadash she surely denied

No matter what will happen
Aslan will be our guide
He will helps us fight this foe
He is always by our side

We do not fear Rabadash
We must run to King Lune's aide
We must stop the two hundred Calormene
From their treacharous raid

Off to Cair Paravel I swiftly run
There is no time to lose
I must hurry to the palace
And relay the important news

always be humble and kind

Hey wild_rose,

Very nice poetic narrative from the talking stag. One could feel the tension inside of the hooved beast when reading the poem.

Fine effort,

One thing I enjoy writing about is Narnian life, little things that would happen in the land of Narnia, so here is a little poem (or not so little :p ) about two swans courting each other on a spring afternoon

Courting Swans
In the lands of Narnia
Spring has filled the air
The sun is smiling warmly down
And all around is green and fair

In the northern part of Narnia
At a mighty mountain's base
Two swans swim shyly in the water
Of a large and crystal lake

(cob)
Today had started out so usual
But now what is this I see
A swan is floating in the water
As pretty as a swan can be

So pure and elegant
Filled with poise and grace
And her eyes just seem to sparkle
And adorn her lovely face

(pen)
I do believe there is another swan
Out here upon the lake
And strange that he should be here
For the hour is noon and late

He seems so strong and valiant
His eyes clear and beak so black
And I cannot help but wonder
Is that me he's gawking at

(cob)
I would like to know her name
Yet I seem so strangely shy
Now I could swim closer to her
I don't suppose she would mind

Perhaps she will notice me
And be the first to ask my name
Then I will gladly give it
And ask her to do the same

(pen)
Good grief I do believe
That he is swimming my way
How on earth should I act
For I don't know what to say

I'll just pretend that I don't see him
I'll look over on the other side
I'll pretend I didn't notice
Which way he happened to glide

(cob)
Bother, I don't think this is working
No reaction from her can I see
Can it really be possibly true
That she did not notice me

Perhaps if I swim in circles
And try to catch her eye
Then she ask me for my name
Well, it is worth a try

(pen)
Why he is trying to impress me
At least this is what I think
Oh dear, could have I imagined
Or did he really look up and wink

Now I am really awkward
So I'll just look the other way
I have no idea what to do
And am tongue tied anyway

(cob)
No this is not the answer
Just swiming to her will not suffice
I wonder why is it always us males
Who have to be first to break the ice

Come now, gather your courage
This is such a simple task
It's not like there is a law
Forbidding a name to be asked

(cob to the pen)
Fair swan if you please
I should be delighted to know
If you would only honor me
And tell by what name you go

(pen, to herself)
what a rich voice he has
And he is so very brave
To come up right to me
And kindly request my name

(pen, to the cob)
Noble cob, I do truly admire
Great courage it must have taken you
But giving my name to strangers
Is just something I never do

(cob, to the pen)
Then fair pen may I request
That you and I take a glide
We could swim across the lake
And get aquainted you and I

(pen, to the cob)
That is such a lovely idea
I can not turn your offer down
We could swim the lake together
And talk until the sun goes down

The cob was pleased with this idea
So they swam with great delight
And they did talk till the sun went down
And the moon came with the night

They are still swimming on the lake
But I think we must be going
For they might take offense you know
If they find we saw them courting

always be humble and kind

Hey wild_rose,

I love the originality of your poem. The world of Narnia allows for many stories...great and small to be told. The swan courstship was wonderfully written and filled with the grace and elegance one would expect from two swans in love.

Bravo!
