I working on a wallpaper and I would like to use pictures of Peter's sword, Susan's Bow and Arrows and Mriaz's sword without any people in them. Does anyone know where I could find such images. I have done some looking on SpareOom and NarniaWeb but I haven't seen anything. (I could be looking in the wrong spots). Thanks!

NarniaWeb's costume site is a great place to go!
For Miraz's sword, it's on this page. Peter sword is on this page. And Susan's bow and arrow are on this page.
Hope this helps!

I need someone to help me with the signature. I have the pic but I have no idea how to edit it.

Do you mean edit it in a photo-editing program or do you mean edit as in changing the image in your current signature to something else?

I want a signature of Becoming Jane but I don't know how to edit and make it into a signature format.

A great way to get started is through a photo-editing program called GIMP. It's free and a lot of people here on NarniaWeb use it. I myself use Paint Shop Pro X and Photoshop 7.0.
You can go here to learn more about GIMP.
I can help you get started, but I'll need to know what program you will be using. I know a bit about GIMP since that's what I began with, but people like MissAdventure, flambeau, and Djaq know a lot more about GIMP. I'm more used to Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro.

Also, you'll need an account on some "Photo sharing website" for lack of a better word. I use photo bucket photobucket.com, it free and fairly easy to use. (I know some others use imageshack) That's the only way you'll be able to use it on this site and other forums.

Hello! I have a couple of questions.
I was browsing through the brushes and textures thread, and some of those textures are really cool! I was just wondering if there's a special technique for making them. Do you just take pictures and play around with them on photoshop until they look cool? Or do you somehow draw them yourself? Are there tutorials on how to make them? I'd like to know since I'm interested in making graphics, but I really don't have much experience.
Also, some of the fonts I see on people's signatures and avatars are really neat as well, but whenever I try adding text (I have Photoshop Elements 7) it turns out all grainy. Is there a better way to insert text?
Thanks a bunch in advance!

As for making textures, there isn't really a specific technique I use. I just mess around until I get what I want. My favorite thing to do when I'm making textures is to do a gaussian blur on a stock image. Some people draw textures themselves, but I typically use stock images or scans that I do myself.
In regards to text, one problem that you could have is that you may be saving it as a jpeg, which typically makes images very grainy. If you aren't already saving it as a png, I highly recommend it. Other problems could be with your text settings. I have Photoshop 7.0 and Photoshop Elements 6.0, but I have no idea how similar Photoshop Elements 7.0 is to those. In 7.0, there are settings for text such as sharp, crisp, strong, and smooth. Messing with those settings could make your text grainy. If you could give me specifics on what you do when you are using text, I may be able to help you more.
Hope this helps you a little bit.

Thanks so much, Wunder, that's very helpful! I already figured out what was wrong with my text - I had disabled the anti-alias setting by accident Whoops! I redid my siggy and I think it looks a lot better saved as a png. I would have never known that, so thanks again!

I've made a wallpaper from one of the new VDT screen caps, but am having trouble with artifacts appearing in the final image when I save it.
Upon viewing in Windows Photo Viewer, the entire image seems faded, and a large greyish smear appears on part of the image. This happens whether I save as JPG, PNG, or TIFF.
I'm using GIMP, but the same problem occurs when I save the wallpaper in PSD format, open the PSD in Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2, and save to PNG from there.
When I open the PNG version in GIMP, or my web browser, however, the image looks fine -- nice and vibrant, with no smear!
Have any of you run into this problem? Thanks!

Okay, my brother recently moved and only took one of his computers with him. He left the one that has Photoshop on it and challenged me to use it since I use Picnik a lot. There's one small problem: I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing. I opened up a picture and just started playing around but the only tool I figured out how to use was the blur. I'm not even sure of what each tool does let alone how to use it. What is a "layer"? What does the "magic wand" do? What is the "curves" tool? etc. I tried browsing through the Help page but was completely lost. Also, I'd love to try my hand at making some graphics, but have no idea how. Do I need to download images to my computer? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
Hail, daughter of the King!
I use GIMP (a free image editor which does Photoshop-like stuff). However, some things are pretty standard no matter what you're using. Here goes:
1)Think of layers as transparencies. It's just a way of separating the different parts of your final image while you're working on them. For instance, if you want to make a signature banner, you can have the base image on the bottom layer, and place your text on a layer on top of it. This way you can work on the text (move it, apply effects, etc) without touching the base image underneath.
2)You can find a brief overview of the magic wand here.
3)Curves are kind of advanced... I'm just getting the hang of them. They can be used to define a custom curves, which can then be "stroked," or turned into a coloured, curving line. [See correction.] You probably don't need them for now.
Correction: As flambeau pointed out in the post below, I should have said paths, not curves. In addition, coloured lines are not the only thing you can do with paths. Sorry for any confusion!
Final advice: If you don't know what a tool does, try Googling it! You could also try searching for Photoshop tutorials, which you can then work through to get the hang of different tools. I'm a GIMP user, so I can't really help you here. Have fun!
