"My sister Susan," answered Peter shortly and gravely, "is no longer a friend of Narnia."
"Yes," said Eustace, "and whenever you've tried to get her to come and talk about Narnia or do anything about Narnia, she says, 'What wonderful memories you have! Fancy your still thinking about all those funny games we used to play when we were children.'"
"Oh Susan!" said Jill. "She's interested in nothing nowadays except nylons and lipsticks and invitations She always was a jolly sight too keen on being grown-up."
-The Last Battle, Chapter 12
I really like this - it's very poignant! When I was a kid I couldn't understand how Susan could turn her back on Narnia, but now that I'm an adult I understand much better how the things of this world can so easily crowd out the child-like faith. The mix of colour and black and white in your piece really underscores that for me!
This is very nice, nz_narnia_nut. I think you translated Susan's character very well and that picture & quotations you selected certainly visualize that aspect of her. The blurred black & white image of her in the background is very effective and yet, I like how you included the colored version of her as well, to present exactly the self-absorbed young lady that she has become. I also really like how you added the letters & rose textures on the side because it also brings about an air of sophistication on Susan's part. It's quite a sad wallpaper actually because it reminds me so much of when I read through the Last Battle for the first time and how disappointed I was that Susan, particularly one of the four Pevensie's, had lost her faith in Narnia to the empty world of society.
Wonderful work!

Well done! kind of harsh for those who cherish susan from LWW.... but it does show us never to be like that! The quality of the is exellent, and the message clear.

Great wp nz_narnia_nut. The simplicity of it is so amazing, there is so much said just through the imagery. Coloration throughout works very well and I absolutey love the "fuzzy" effect to the BG image (seems to push ideas about Susan's character in a subtle manner). Text also works well with the overall concept of the piece. Layout, fonts, and coloration are also working well here. I really like the addition of the rose imagery in the lower right as well as the the overlay of letters for invitations (both add a nice finishing touch). Nice work .

as library_girl says, very poignant it's nice to see this issue delt with in a wallpaper, and I think it all works relaly well. the use ofblack and white is really effective, and I lovelove the rose and the letters on the side. only suggestion/comment I would make is that the quote at the bottom is a bi hard to read, but apart from that this is a super wallpaper
Grief for the movies made me abandon narniaweb...but I'm so glad to be back!
Many thanks to the wonderful Lady Eowyn for making my sig/av.
