[Closed] A Holly Dryad

It's been a very long time since I posted here a drawing! I got an idea of drawing a dryad with computer (easier to mix the colours) from Lewis' description in PC. This might turn into a small series or not, I don't know.

I didn't know what a holly looks like, but could remember a female holly dryad being dark and having bright red berries as a decoration (didn't have the book at hand to check, either...). So, here it is :D :

Oooh! You did a very nice job with this, Mehinen! :D The shading and proportion are both excellent! I love how the colors of her dress and hair go with the tree. The holly berries in her hair are a nice touch! You have just the right amount of detail in the background - enough to apply that there's some greenery behind her, yet not so much that it takes away from her. I really like the whimsical feel that your piece has.

Again, fantastic work! I hope to see more of your art sometime. :)

This is most lovely, Mehinen! :) I love this drawing of a holly dryad and I think you interpreted her very well. I really like how smoothly the drawing turned out and how all the colors just flow into one another. The greens behind her intertwining with the brown tones are sunning!! This almost looks like a watercolor. The holly herself has such pure and gentle features. I love her eyes and sweet smile! Her hair flows so nicely around the frame of her face. She looks so woodlandy, especially with the brown dress she is wearing and the little red berries within her hair. The whole drawing just has such a magical and beautifully soft air to it!

You did a wonderful job!

very pretty! :) I love the color scheme and the layout. Nice job on the hair and the dress! The soft feel of the folds in the dress is a nice touch. What program did you use to draw it? and did you use a wacom tablet? :)

Would love to see you turn this into a small series! I'd love to see you draw a water nymph (hint hint :p).

Thank you, Silver the Wanderer, Quinlin and Aravis Autarkeia! Nice to know you liked it :) .

Yes, the tablet was Wacom's, and the program was Corel Painter Essentials 2. The program actually came with the tablet, so they are quite easy to use together. Water nymph? That could be quite interesting... :p .

Ooh, a Wacom tablet! :D I have one of those, and I use it all the time. I used to use Corel Painter Essentials a long time ago, but the version I have no longer works on my computer so I've switched over to Photoshop. I do have something called Corel Painter Sketch Pad (which in fact came with my tablet!) but I haven't had much chance to play around with it. I really should try it out...

;)) Sorry, I just got a little excited at the mention of Wacom tablets. :P

I love the background colors. Very Narnian and woodsy looking! Great job!

Oh very pretty! the hair has good texture, and I like the subtle background. Her expression is good and her hair blowing gives it a dreamy effect. Nice colorse too!

You draw so well on a tablet! I have a Wacom tablet (which also came with Corel Painter and Photoshop) I can't draw on it to save my life LOL! :p
