The Walden movies are good, LW&W was a great film of the book, PC one of the best fantasy films ever (if taken with a caveat for it's end army battle till the trees) and a great thematic adaption, & VODT is more of a mixed bag but STILL good enough to be enjoyable & relatable to it's book and the previous film adaptions, just missing the boat a bit more with it's middling plot.
It really would be a big waste if the Walden movies were not included, with their thematic arcs & Narnia feel, when a new hopefully Narnia movie gets made. From here on, while the books' themes combine in building to The Last Battle, Narnia is more episodic time/era wise, & a Magician's Nephew film would always be a re-boot & it makes sense to have a re-boot exactly half-way through the Chronicles anyway so i don't think it's all doom and gloom back to square one for a new movie.
Just needs a good MN film to re-boot the series when it happens & you could guarantee the dvd's of the first three films would start selling again.
"When" seems to be a matter of much debate. I too think that if anyone makes another Narnia film it will be The Magician's Nephew. I'm not so sure that anyone will try to tackle Wardrobe any time soon though.
Hollywood does seem to be bankrupt of ideas lately, so I suppose these days I wouldn't be too suprised to see a remake of LWW, but people tend to shy away from remaking classics for a few decades and I would argue that LWW has become a minor film classic. -I feel that people would be a bit daunted by the task of making a film to compete with Adamson's version. Too many of the images are iconic. (I agree that it would be a bit like remaking The Lord of the Rings, only to a much lesser degree. Return of the King won 11 academy awards. LWW only won one.) I do think that a remake will happen eventually though.
I disagree with the point made in an earlier post that fantasy movies are on their way out. Just because Harry Potter and Twilight have run out of source material doesn't mean that there is no longer an audience for fantasy films. Fantasy may no longer be a fad, but I think that filmmakers will continue to make fantasies for as long as audiences continue to watch them, -which they are. Also, as noted, The Hobbit is coming out this year, and that will likely spawn an aftershock of fantasy films. Also I predict that if The Hobbit does well, more films based on Tolkien's Middle Earth will follow, though most likely with a new director. If people continue to make Tolkien movies, I suspect they will continue to make Lewis movies as well.

I find it difficult to imagine no Narnia films ever getting made again. I'm just not sure if it will happen in 5 years, 15 years, or 150 years.
Here's just hoping it's not the latter...
I'd rather be alive so I can enjoy them
I'm hopeful... I just hope it happens soon
"The mountains are calling and I must go, and I will work on while I can, studying incessantly." -John Muir
"Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed." -Richard Adams, Watership Down
I think at this point it is a maybe. Although, if the time alotted before they can start on the next movie presents any advantage, it might provide time for the world to move on to a different genre other than fantasy. Which might help Narnia because, the director will want to make it so much that he won't care what the world is doing. It will become like what Jackson did with the Lord of the Rings.
That is a good point, Eustace. Maybe the problem right now is that fantasy is such a big and popular genre that Narnia really is nothing new. In that case, I can see the benefit in the delay of a few years to make more movies if it gives the fantasy franchise some time to simmer down.
I voted for "yes." I almost voted for Maybe, but then I considered how devoted Gresham and Walden Media have been to the series thus far. I'm hoping that once the amount of allotted time is up, they'll continue to pursue making these films.

Dadgum, this is more popular than I thought it would be
I agree with the whole waiting thing, take the world by storm with Narnia!
but on the other hand, fantasy is super popular too, and by waiting, people might get bored with fantasy so Narnia might not do as well.
but what do I know about marketing?

This year we have two movies based on Snow White, two upcoming TV series based on Beauty and the Beast (one on ABC, the other on the CW) and a Beauty and the Beast movie by Guillermo Del Toro in the works (not to mention the Beauty and the Beast movie "Beastly" that came out last year), an american TV series based on Sherlock Holmes to go alongside the currently running BBC series and the Robert Downey Jnr movie series also of Sherlock Holmes, plus two upcoming movies based on Peter Pan (one with Channing Tatum, the other with Aaron Eckhart), and no doubt numerous other overlapping projects of classic literature/fantasy/fairytales which i'm forgetting.... so i really can't see Hollywood leaving LWW alone when the rights come up for grabs, and it will probably be sooner rather than later that we see a Narnia film on the bigscreen again.
I'm voting maybe, because anything could happen, and maybe the rights to make another Narnia movie won't even be sold at all.

I voted maybe, I hope they take up the series again, but I don't know if I postively think they will, so I went with maybe.
I also think they will start with MN But I suppose only time will tell
always be humble and kind
I voted "Yes!". I think someday there will be another Narnia Movie. There is still good to great potential in the remaining stories (IMHO).
Perhaps starting up again when there is a lull in big fantasy movies might be the way to go.

There is definitely no "a" in definite.
The Mind earns by doing; the Heart earns by trying.
I surely hope so...
Eventally more moives will come out. As for wether they are by Walden and FOX or someone else, new moives are bond to come.
So then it becaomes a question of when the moives come out. My personal hunch is the Walden will make at least one more moive in the next seven years.
I would rather see the moive series scrapped than have them modernize Narnia, or turn it into something it was never remotely intended to be.
I can survive murdering the plot (just barely, but I would survive) as long as the central message and Christain influnce is still there.
memento mori
VDT is not a mixed bag, it's a lesson in how not to script a movie. As a movie it's painful, as an adaptation it's even worse. The message is humanistic, unlike the book. I really enjoyed LWW and PC but VDT really dropped the ball.

Doctor Who - Season 11
I think it will definitely be picked up again. I'm pretty sure it will be a reboot, which is sad because I couldn't imagine someone playing Lucy and Eustace besides Georgie and Will. I've pretty much excepted that Will Poulter won't be back for whenever SC gets made.
I think companies will want it because:
1. It's a series people know
2. There is already some sort of Narnia publicity from the current films
3. Hollywood is lazy and most movies nowadays are remakes, sequels, or based on books
I can survive murdering the plot (just barely, but I would survive) as long as the central message and Christain influnce is still there.
I don't think it is possible for that to happen. I think that if the movie clearly deviates from the plot, it will deviate from Lewis's Christian messages. Those messages are the heart of the story and the whole plot is based around it. I know that there have to be certain changes for the movie to work, but overall I don't think you could change the plot that much and still have the Christian theme. I think that's what happened with VDT. They changed the plot and thus changed the message. I just don't want to see that happen again. I would rather not have a Narnia movie than one without the central theme. Especially if it was SC because Puddleglum's speech is so important and it's so inspiring for Christians. If they messed that up, I would rather not have the movie at all.
I don't think it is possible for that to happen. I think that if the movie clearly deviates from the plot, it will deviate from Lewis's Christian messages.
Likewise, if it deviates from the Christian message, it deviates from Lewis's plot.
I definitely think the Narnia movies will be made sometime. Probably multiple times. Modern filmmakers seem to be so lacking in creativity and desperate for stories to make into movies, I don't think there's much chance of them leaving it alone. There isn't often a time (if ever) nowadays where at least 50% of the movies showing aren't either an adaptation, sequel, or remake.
I may get tomatoes thrown at me for this, but when we do get more Narnia movies, I hope it's a reboot. I'm not a fan of how they've handled the Narnia movies so far, and I'm not too thrilled about them continuing them the way they are. Plus, by the time they get made, the current cast will be too old. To continue where they left off, using new people? Seems kind of pointless, and I doubt audiences would be too thrilled with it. Better to start fresh, in my opinion.
