Yes I do. But it won't be for several years and it likely won't be Walden and Fox.

ETA: glumPuddle and I are of the same opinion that whoever picks up the series will likely reboot it but start with The Magician's Nephew. We'll see if our prediction is correct. :P

I voted yes. I'm not sure who "they" will be or when "they" will do it, but I think it will be done.

I surely hope so is what I voted. :)

Lucy still had hope when the others didn't about Aslan, and look at what the turnout was. ;)

Ah yes, it may take some time, but hopefully a new caring company will come along and embrace the series and the fans.

Yes... most likely. Throughout the history of film, a lot of studios and filmmakers have turned to written works to adapt to film. Seeing as Narnia is a seven book series, even more reason to work with the series- seven books equals seven films.

Personally, I get a little anxious though. I think about the possibilities of the Narnia series being moderninzed or turned on its head into something that it wasn't meant to be. Or even worse, just creating the films "assembly line" style without much care for the property. Whoever takes on the project, I just hope that they respect the stories and approach the films with as much care and enthusiasm as C.S. Lewis did when he wrote the stories. It would be really uplifting to see someone create the films with so much respect and passion for the material using their own imaginations and with respect to what C.S. Lewis intended for the stories.

I don't think anyone could possibly argue with a fairly certain "yes" to the question of whether they will make further Narnia films. Since it was published in 1950, LWW has been adapted for film/tv in 1967, 1979, 1988 and 2005 - approximately 10 to 15 years between each adaptations. Therefore you wouldn't imagine we'd have to wait much more than another 10 years before LWW at least is being re-adapted for screen in some manner or another

The issue of the other books will always be a bit more questionable as they are undoubtedly less well known as stand alone stories, though again given how obsessed Hollywood is becoming with remakes, reboots, re-adaptations and the like, it isn't much of a stretch to realise that eventually someone somewhere will decide there is money to be made from the Narnia stories, especially as the relative costs of CGI production fall over time, making the Narnia stories ever more financially viable productions as time goes on and technology improves. Again though it's a fairly obvious "yes", but just a question of when.

However, if the question is whether or not more Narnia movies will be made as part of the current series, then it surely has to be a big fat "no". As i mentioned over in the "Reboot" thread, i just can't see why any production company would go about about securing the rights to the Chronicles of Narnia and then choose not to remake their own version of LWW. From a business point of view it would be financial madness.

And that is exactly why I voted a 'maybe'. The last series, if I remember right, should have begun with Magician's Nephew but Disney, for one, insisted that it had to be LWW, to take advantage of the surprise factor of finding oneself in Narnia, and the growth of the four Pevensie children.

Unfortunately LWW is the only Narnia story that any film maker is really interested in doing - for the money, and for the prestige of doing really well a classic and well-beloved tale.

That is not to say the other Narnia books aren't worth a try, in particular, the ones that weren't filmed in the last series. Just that unless a film maker is prepared to make a genuine attempt at filming all of the books, each as stand alone movies, without salivating over the prospect of making their own version of LWW, some, perhaps all but LWW, will never be made even once, let alone again.

Disney didn't have anything to do with the decision. They didn't even become involved until production on LWW was well underway.

The decision to make LWW first was made by Walden and the Lewis Estate because it's the most well known book and the one that was most likely to make a financially successful film. That's really all there is to it.

The only reason I believe the next Narnia movie will be MN is because I think the series will be rebooted sooner rather than later (3-5 years?). And whoever ends up making it will want to distinguish themselves from the Walden version. But if there ends up being a 10-15 year distance between film series, then I think it'll be LWW again.

Thank you for the link. I wasn't following the filming particularly well at that stage and should learn not to believe everything I thought I read in newspapers. =))

And yes, starting with MN would give a new film-maker a bit of time to work out how to tackle LWW.

I leaned between, "I sure hope so" and "maybe in another 10 years." I really would enjoy more films, if nothing else, to give all of us something to talk about ;)

Honestly though, I don't think we're going to see anyone create faithful adaptations of the films. If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride.

I think that simply the fact that there have been lots of LWW adaptions in the past doesn't mean another one will come in 10-15 years. There has been a recent explosion of movie adaptions in the past decade due to the fact that CGI has progressed to a point where most any story can be made into a film with enough money. It remains to be seen whether there will be any point in remaking these films in the future (for example, I can't see the current Lord of the Rings films being remade for at least another 50 years, if at all...).

If a studio were to reboot the franchise and start with MN, and have that be a success, the logical thing to do would then be to remake LWW. But since a high-quality production of LWW already exists, the remake would have to be drastically different in some way to even be worth the bother.

I think there will be more Narnia films, without doubt. The only question in my mind is when.

As it appears that major fantasy franchises are going 'out' (no more Harry Potter, Twilight, or Lord of the Rings, Hobbit aside), there probably won't be much of a push for major fantasy films anytime soon. When they're back 'in' studios will likely jump on the Narnia bandwagon again.

I'm going to argue that it will be at least 10 years until another adaptation is made.

Unless the series is made/marketed as a kids fairytale or cartoon, in which case it might get adapted sooner than that, and on a much smaller scale.

I'd say that there is no doubt that more Narnia movies will be made. While I don't even really wan't to guess who will make them, or if the franchise will be rebooted, I don't think it will take 10 years. I think more like 6-7 years sounds about right, and maybe even a little sooner if things go well.

Definitely. Remember, after Disney dropped the Narnia Franchise, their were also other companies interested in working with Walden Media, beside Fox. I thought Sony or Universal or something.
These are some of the most popular Fantasy books, just a matter of time.

I said "yes!" I have faith, although I'm not sure why, that one day they will return to Narnia and make another movie - if not all of them. I think they'll start with MN or SC. When? I say in the next five years. :)
