It almost seems like the "Chronicles of Narnia" logo is hurting the films as people have lost interest in the series.
Maybe Silver Chair would do better if they just titled it "The Silver Chair" and promoted more of Jill, Puddleglum, Rillian, and the Lady of the Green Kirtle as opposed to Caspian and Aslan. That way people would be more willing to give it a try as something "new". Of course I want Will Poulter, Liam Neeson, Ben Barnes, and Laura Brent to reprise their roles, but I think the Silver Chair should be filmed as a stand alone story rather then "another Narnia sequel'.
Same with the Magician's Nephew. Honestly, they can advertise them film as a drama with magical elements. They could show a lot with the rings and jumping into the wood between the world's. And I actually think it would help for them to NOT promote Tilda Swinton as the White Witch. I think she should be shown in the trailers, but only as the antagonist with no obvious statment of her being the White Witch. When the audience then watches the movie it could come as a surprise to them that they are watching a prequel to the Narnia series.
Winter Is Coming
Nope. On the contrary, they would do worse. The Narnia title is a big attractor- especially since the Pevensies may not be in the future movies.
I'm sorry, but I completely agree. The "Chronicles of Narnia" logo's absence would make those movies not even feel like Narnia movies.
"I'm a beast I am, and a Badger what's more. We don't change. We hold on. I say great good will come of it... And we beasts remember, even if Dwarfs forget, that Narnia was never right except when a son of Adam was King." -Trufflehunter
I'm sorry, but I completely agree.
No need to be sorry. I'm just tossing out possibilities.
Winter Is Coming
From an artistic standpoint, i think that is something that might of been worth considering at the start - to view the books as seven separate stories which just happened to have have certain elements in common, and to have adpated them as such, releasing each one as a unique movie in it's own right, selling each story on its own merits and not having to worry about the dreaded "franchise" word.
However from a commercial point of view i don't think there was ever any way they could of got away without using the Narnia name to sell the movies. I don't think having them branded as such hurt the movie in any way, and in fact its probably the only reason we've got as far in the series as we have. Everyone knows the name "Narnia", regardless of whether they've read the books, and the name is without doubt their biggest marketing asset.
