Right now, it's really make it or break it for the Narnia Series. Everything is riding on VDT. If VDT does great and SC does at least fairly decent at the box office, I think the rest of the books will be made into films.
If VDT does badly, I think we can say goodbye to the series.
As for Tilda Swinton, just because she has "no plans", doesn't mean she has no interest. Also, if/when MN does get made, it will be years from now, so anything could happen.
(On another note, I hope Andrew Adamson does NOT direct another Narnia film ever again!)
"Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you!"
- Dr. Seuss
If VDT does well I think MN will be made, unless SC loses money (I really hope that doesn't happen). As others have noted, MN is the one Douglas Gresham has been wanting to do. If human power can get that movie made he will get it made.
But assuming VDT does as well or better than we ever hoped, and SC is greenlit, you still have a problem. SC is the favourite since it makes the best use of William Poulter, maybe Ben Barnes as well, and decisively continues on from VDT. But Eustace and Jill aren't all that much older when the Last Battle comes around.
Um, yes they are. In LWW Lucy is about 8, which would make her nine in PC and ten in VDT. She did not start boarding school until PC. In LB Eustace says that he and Jill are the only ones still in school. I don't know how the British school system worked then, but I am going to assume that would make Lucy roughly 17-18 in LB. Eustace is a year younger than Lucy, which would make him roughly 16-17 in LB. I still think SC makes the most sense to come next, and LB has to be last, and I really want to see the other two made. Eustace and Jill can be much older in LB than they are in SC. The only wild card is Will Poulter is the right age to be filming LB now. But, as has been noted in other places, he looks younger than he is. So unless he ages quite visibly quite a bit, I don't think filming LB quickly is a problem, which leaves more time to film MN and HHB.

Absolutely, positively, 100% agreed!

I am seriously hoping VDT does well for that very reason. And it sounds like the plot will be good, so my only fear now is a lack of advertising, you know there are still people who didn't even know that PC was made. And then there's a situation similar to that of To Save A Life many of the critics disliked it, but if you ask any member of the normal audience, they loved it. My hope is that the critics biases (especially those geared toward PC) won't keep them from writing honest reviews or keep the audience from seeing it.
As for Adamson, I personally loved his depiction of LWW
"The mountains are calling and I must go, and I will work on while I can, studying incessantly." -John Muir
"Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed." -Richard Adams, Watership Down
I believe all the movies will be made but maybe not hhb. If it is made it will be filmed last most likley.
^^ I hope so!
and Andrew Adamson wants to come back to direct MN.....
I can just imagine what we'd end up with if he did. "My memories of MN from when I was of a child was of a massive battle between the Witch and the creatures of Narnia. And I remember Aslan making flying Minotaurs and Polly and Digory riding them to the Garden where they dueled the Witch and her niece, the LotGK."
I think MN will be made if VDT and SC do well. I hope it gets made, if they do it properly.
I really want LB before MN is made! I want to see more of Eustace and Jill and the Pevensies befoer I see HHB and MN!
My book on Amazon Kindle

The pevensies are as well in HHB, eustacegirl. But the thing with having LB first then MN will get a lot of non-readers mad because of the ending. It would be fresher if they did the correct order of the books with filming. The message will be clearer to people and kids if done that way.
Then again it's just my silly opinion.

yeah, I feel the same way! if MN ever gets made, then I would rather have the other stories be made first and have MN come out at the end (the way the books were published)!

MN was published before LB. The Last Battle is the last Narnia book in both the publication and chronological orders.
Yes either MN should come out after SC or HHB. I don't really care, but LB should be the last Narnia film in my opinion.

Based on Walden Media's commitment and it being a lifelong dream of Douglas Gresham, I'd say the chances are very good, as long as the films continue to be profitable.
That being said, while I, too, am excited about the prospect of seeing MN on the big screen... how in the Narnia will they capture the creation scene which is so surreal and almost dreamlike in the book?
Lost in the woods and weary he looked into the night sky and a voice spoke to him, "As long as the moon shines, I will be with you. The day the moon no longer shines, you will be with Me."
I'd been looking for this article for forever and happened to run across it today while looking for something else.

Has anyone discussed whether fourteen years from now there will be a movie seven and whether they'll walk back on?
Adamson: It's funny. Obviously no one knows. I think the studios will keep making them as long as people will keep coming to see them. It's interesting in that the end story probably wouldn't be the last one to tell. It'd probably be the fifth because it's a prequel, 'The Magician's Nephew'. I know that Tilda [Swinton] would be more than happy to come back and do that. It would be interesting. 'The Last Battle' would have some real challenges obviously if we did do it all that time from now. The kids are going to be pretty grown up and definitely discussed, not very seriously, the idea of shooting those scenes sometimes in the next few years, but I don't think it's really going to happen.
As an aside, I think AA got confused and thought MN was last instead of LB.
I would much rather SC to MN to LB to HHB. I'd rather have MN first because it's the story of how the world of Narnia was created and in LB we see it all come to an end. And by HHB we'll see the Pevensie's much more grown up and I think that this order could save the Narnia franchise too because they are all different and the front stories will have excellent trailers as well.

Wow, great question! For some reason, I think we will see the end of an Era to the Narnia movies. Maybe that's the chronic worrier in me. But it's no fun being glum all the time.
^^ I hope so!
