The movies are what prompted me to read the books. I read LWW before seeing the movie, but it was the trailers for the film that made me want to read the book. After I read LLW, I read the other six books. So I probably would be of fan of the movies even if I had not read the books, but I would not be nearly as big of a fan. I would have seen both of the films, but I might not have bought the DVDs if I didn’t love the books so much. I love both the books and the films, but I like the books better. I wonder sometimes if I would have like PC the film better if I wasn’t comparing it to such a high standard of the book and just judge it like any other movie.

Another way of saying it might be: Would you be a fan of the movies if you hadn't read the books?

I've thought about this a lot since you started the topic. And I think my honest answer is that I would be a BIGGER fan of the movies if I hadn't read the books. About 90% of what bothers me in the movies are changes to the characters from the books, but other than that, I love the movies. And had I not had the books in the back of my mind, then the character changes certainly wouldn't have bothered me at all.

I am a fan of both, though are parts of the movies I simply cannot stand just as a movie goer. But I do not think I would be as much of a fan of the movies if I hadn't read the books, certainly not enough to go the theater and buy the special edition of the DVDs. LWW was a good family film, but the story lost some key elements that would have made it stick out more. I actually find PC quite boring in some parts. And no, not the slow bits like the dream or Cair Paravel. The action is what bores me. Everyone does great big action and epic battles nowadays. And after forty plus minutes it starts to drag. So, I think if I had not read the books the movies would be on my "get out once every year or so from the library" list.

I'm a fan of the movies because of the books.

If I had not read the books, I doubt I would have ever seen the movies, at least not in the theater, simply because I don't watch many theatrical movies.

I am a fan of the movies. Before watching LWW in 2005 I had only listened to the FOF audiotapes. Watching the movie made me interested in actually reading the books. But I really did like the books (audiotapes) before, just not as much as I do now.
