[Closed] What was the cheesiest line in the movie?

If the delivery was better, the line would have worked just fine. The problem is that Georgie's grin was completely unbelievable.

I guess...her grin was annoying...I'll have to think of another cheesy line now! lol jk

I thought Reepicheep (in VDT) was just one big ball of cheese. He seemed so sappy, and his voice had this sweet tone about it that didn't fit with my idea of the character. There wasn't that dangerous edge about him that he had in the book and in the PC movie. It's as though, in the intervening 3 years, someone took Reepicheep to the vet and had him fixed. :( But, I don't know if his lines were cheesy, or if it was just the way Simon Pegg delivered them. Eddie Izzard was so much better.

=)) about Reep. I think they toned down Reep with the script and Simon Pegg was limited to play him soft. Both he and Izzard would have been okay voicing him, it's just how they were written for each movie. Part of me liked the soft side being shown for Reep....though if they could have made Reep sincerely as unflinching and edgy as the book and then softened him after they softened Eustace with the undragoning....it would have been the more uncheesy thing to do. In addition...I don't really think the "I'm a boy again" line is so cheesy in retrospect. They use that line in the BBC audio drama of VDT too...but when they use that line there it makes more sense because it's an audio version. Anyway...it's not as cheesy to me as Lucy's exaggerated grin about Susan's letter.

I love this thread! :D

Okay, the letter. The line really could have worked! But, Georgie's unbelievable grin and the way she holds the letter for about 20 seconds with out saying anything (as if Apted is giving us time to read the address) is really fake and silly looking. :-

What about Georgie's "Do you think I look like Susan?" line. Where did that come from!!? And Edmund says nothing in reply! Cheesy! 8-}

"I'm a boy again!" Thanks, Captian Obvious.

Yes, Reep was really quite annoying! "Extrodanary things happen to extrodanary people." =)) Like you think Eustace is extrodanary? He he he. That line made me gag.

Just like Lucy's "Be just like you" like to Gael. (-| We've heard this so many times!

"That's pretty!" was also pretty terrible... the line wasn't that bad in itself, but the way it was delivered was just painful. ~x(

That's after Reep sings his song, right? :)) What made the line cheesy to me was... even if I liked that song (which I don't) I would never call it "pretty". ;)) Lively, maybe. Classy, perhaps. But pretty is more... Tumnus's song. Not Reep's Fred Astaire-esque song. ;))

I agree that that line was cheesy; but I think that's really how it would be said, in real life. She's trying to start up a conversation, and he's singing a song. :P So it made me wince, but if you think about it, it's kind of natural. :P IMO. Confusing much?

It made me wince, too, but you're right, Elanor, there is really no way to make that kind of line sound natural.

Even saying, "That's a nice song" would have sounded better, in my opinion. A Fred Astaire style song, although it is out of place in a Narnia film, could still be called "nice", I suppose. It's just... the word "pretty"... It didn't fit. [-( ;)

I don't know how many times this movie made me cringe at it's dialogue. It seemed like those old, cheesy attempts at medieval movies. :P

All of those you mentioned I felt were cheesy. (Except the second-fiddle thing. I didn't love the line or anything, it just didn't bother me.)

"I'm a boy again!" ? Pinocchio, anyone? :P

It totally threw me out of the moment and made me think of Shrek.

=))

"Extraordinary things happen to extraordinary people!" is a cry for varied vocabulary.
Lucy's little perky lines meant to cheer everyone up kind of made me cringe sometimes...

The American words (I still can't believe the "period" thing! It should really have been "full-stop" if they absolutely needed to put that in the movie.) and the modern-ish words/humour that typically would not be used in the early 40's and especially in Narnia bothered me.

Ooh! Another one! Lucy's overreacting somewhat at when the dufflepuds kidnapped her was really....dot dot dot.

And.. yeah, "EDMUND, what did you THINK of?!" I mean...come on.

The content of some of the cheesy lines wasn't actually the problem, just the words used, the rising inflections chosen, and the preachiness of them kind of turned people off, I think.

I agree with narnian_at_heart, this thread is hilarious. glumPuddles' Drinan saying "pure evil"... :))

In the first place what Reep is singing is not pretty, and in the second place Lucy sounds really forced and dishonest about it.

Rofl.

I think Lucy was talking about the lyrics, not the way Reepicheep sung the song.

I hope so. ;)) At least it would make more sense that way. If she was talking about the tune, she has an odd sense of beauty. 8-}

Oh and don't forget the way every other line was Lucy screaming "EDDDMMMMMUNDDDD!!!!11!!" or Edmund shouting "LUUUCCCYYYYY!!!!11!!" I read a review in which the author claimed if they hadn't known better, they would have thought the movie was shipping the two of them judging by the way they were constantly screaming each others names a la cheesy action movies with the star-crossed lovers being torn apart.

#1 Cheesiest line(s): "Susan's bow and arrows. My healing cordial and dagger." ~Lucy
"Peter's sword." ~Edmund
Well, DUH!
#2 Cheesiest line: "We did it! I knew we would." ~Lucy
#3 Cheesiest line: "Look!" How many times did Lucy say that (or some variation)?? Upon seeing Lilliandil, Gael, and the painting, for starters.
#4 Cheesiest line: "Lucy, we could be so rich. No one could tell us what to do." ~Edmund

I actually liked the second fiddle line.

That didn't bother me at all. If I had an older brother and we were being kidnapped by slave traders, I'd be screaming his name. I think it showed how Lucy relies on Edmund and the responsibly he has to protect her now that Peter isn't in Narnia with them.

Just my two cents. :)

I've seen the movie...
LWW - 17+ (lost count)
PC - 7
VDT - 5
I loved them all!
