My guesses is if it's not in front of Iron Man surely with Adamson still being a part of Narnia and Shrek I don't see why not he couldn't promote VDT before Shrek 4.

NL101, I think you have great faith in Apted:

I do feel the Apted will take VDT in a more serious direction than the other two; perhaps emitting cheesy jokes, bad dialogue, etc.

Don't let your faith get you carried away, he's only human, and he's in the film business. ;)
oh... I just had a vision of a cheesy-joke free Narnia movie!! Now my expectations will be too high. sigh.

I think the talk of it being in front of Eclipse makes the most sense . . . even though i definitely dont want it to be that late. It is a similar genre and a lot of people will definitely be watching it. Makes the most sense other that Iron Man 2, but of course that seems way too early.

Further up, Further in.

Iron Man 2 is not too early to show the teaser. They've been in post production for months now, they can at least show a teaser. And they better get the advertizing for this film early. Most people don't even know its coming out.

Think about it. The teaser will come out in May.

During the Summer we will get the first regular trailer (infront of other fantasy films like Eclipse, and The Last Airbender).

During the fall we get the longer Trailer 2. This would show up during Harry Potter, and a few other films opening around Thanksgiving.

^^ that is how I hope it will be!
yeah, they need to start getting VotDT more publicly known.....I have talked to people who like Narnia and they have no idea that there is a new Narnia movie coming out! :-o we need to spread the word!

Ordinarily i'd agree with you. For a big December release you would normally expect the first trailer/teaser (however you want to refer to it) to come out in May.

But given how little "official" news Fox has released so far, and how little public media they have put out there (a total of 3 publicity stills) then yes, i might say Iron Man 2 is a little early for a teaser trailer.

I guess its not that unusual, but i would still find it a little odd if they went from absolutely no publicity to a big Trailer release just like that. We haven't even had a Poster yet - The Prince Caspian teaser poster was released 3 months before the first trailer, and whilst LWW didnt really have a teaser poster, they still had plenty of other official media releases prior to the first trailer (video blogs, publicity stills, concept art, etc). We haven't really had any of that for VDT so far.

I'm not saying it won't happen, but it would still seem odd to me if the Trailer were the very first thing they released in their publicity schedule.

I've been doing a lot of backtracking on Avatar news as that was Fox's big release last December so I can get some sort of idea as to what marketing scheme Fox might go with for VDT. I don't think it's a very good comparison as Avatar was the first of its kind, but it might surprise people to know that the first poster for Avatar wasn't released until Comic-Con (late July) and the first trailer for Avatar wasn't released until mid-August. The late huge push for the movie certainly didn't hurt its ticket sales any. :P

Now like I said, I really don't think Fox will mimic the Avatar marketing plan for VDT, but I DO think instead of what Disney did for LWW where they released all sorts of stuff very early on and strung it out as long as possible, I'm envisioning more of a really big push as late as possible for VDT. Lots and lots of hype, with no time for it to die off.

I really have no idea when they'll choose to release the trailer. I wouldn't be surprised if they release it in May, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they chose to wait til June. I definitely think it will be out before June 30th as that's when those clips go out in the VBS packet, but besides that, I've got no idea. ;))

I'm also gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that we may get something big at Comic-Con this year. Extended trailer maybe? A second trailer? Hopefully they don't hold onto the first trailer that long. :P

I only see one trailer for this film... MAYBE two.. but this big question: Will the trailer be in 3D in theatres?

Corazon, it will depend if the trailer is in front of a 3D movie or not, and if the footage has been converted to 3D by the time the trailer is released. If it is attached to something like Iron Man or Eclipse or any other 2D film than it definitely won't be in 3D. I would bet though that if it is attached to a 3D film than the trailer will be in that same format.

...The late huge push for [Avatar] certainly didn't hurt its ticket sales any...

Too true, too true!

I saw a trailer for Avatar in front of virtually every movie I went to last year, from summer all the way to its December release date. It'd be awesome to see that kind of advance publicity for VDT!

...I definitely think it will be out before June 30th...

That dovetails very nicely with the July 2 release date of The Last Airbender, another fantasy film. *crosses fingers*

I would bet though that if it is attached to a 3D film than the trailer will be in that same format...

I'd never thought of that (since this 3D craze is still rather new). The newest trailer for The Last Airbender indicates it'll be 3D. If the VDT trailer is indeed in front of it, I may see TLA in both 2D and 3D to look for differences in the VDT trailer's visual effects.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

I like that idea: a concentrated and sustained effort till the movie is released; after beginning at the appropriate date. :)

When the trailer does come out, we'll have to find out what are the actual movies it is showing in front of. I definitely want to see it on the big screen.

According to Box Office Mojo Link, Fox has released 16 of the top 100 USA moneymakers (in actual, not adjusted dollars). And I know that it has had at least three #1's over the years: The Sound of Music, Star Wars (now episode 4), and currently Avatar.

While it is highly unrealstic that VDT should reach #1, I think it will have a shot at the top 100; I hope. :D B-)

They are planning to show a trailer at the Biola conference, and that is today! I wonder if we'll get to hear something about the footage they show!

Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!
