In the new page revealed on Narnia.com, the one on Narrowhaven, one of the features that can be found is a water nypmh just on the right side of the boat (somewhere between the boat and the water).
It says:
These beautiful creatures are as mysterious as the ocean's depths. What do they portend for the voyage ahead?
They seem to look like the watery women we saw in the trailers, those which most people assumed were Sea people. But it seems not...
And even if they are nymphs, what are they doing in Narrowhaven? How so they tie in with the Lone Island plot?
Perhaps they are icluded here only for the sake of anticipation? - given the 'voyage ahead' comment?
And does it mean we will have no Sea people?

Wow. I didn't even notice the water nymph. Ha! Thanks for pointing that out Narnia_Maniac.
Actually that makes me feel better about the shot of Lucy waving at the water nymph in the trailer cause I thought it was supposed to be a mermaid and I loved the design of the mermaids so much in LWW, I was pretty disappionted. Nice to know this is something totally different.
It'll be interesting to see if they replace water nymphs with the sea people at the end of the voyage. If they do, it won't be a significant enough change for me to be bothered by it.
I'm worried how these nymphs will fit in, because obviously they were important enough to put online and in the trailers. You were right about them not being sea people, but really what can they add to the story without stretching its believability. I mean we're now pretty sure that Liliandil is going to be guiding them a lot through the journey, so does she use nymphs to help her do it? Where's Aslan in all this? Then again, they could just be like the dryads in LWW. Who knows, but I'm kind of nervice.
^^ if they are like the dryads in LWW, it would make sense!
just compare Lucy waving to the dryad in LWW to Lucy waving to the water nymph in the VotDT trailer!

Can't provide my opinion on the new stuff since narnia.com is telling me that Narrowhaven isn't available yet.
You should be able to see it if you follow the direct link from the article bookwyrm

That's kind of weird. Are there supposed to be water nymphs in the ocean?
However, I'd much rather it be a nymph that Lucy's waving to than a sea person. That trailer shot was all wrong for it to be the sea girl.
I hadn't thought about them taking out the sea people altogether, though. That would be very sad, because I always loved that part of the book.

The water nymphs definitely look different than I imagined them, but then again, so do the dryads. I suppose they are keeping the theme of making them made out of their element.
Seeking comic book artist, PM for details.
One of the things I was disappointed at in LWW was that they didn’t have Naiads, so as soon as I saw the Naiad in the trailer I was so happy!
I personally think that the Naiads will not take the place of the Mermaids.
Assuming the Naiads are seen at Narrowhaven, I think they could make an appearance in one of these ways:
1.Assuming there is a battle in Narrowhaven against the Slavers, maybe they pursue the Dawn Treader crew as they return to the Dawn Treader and the Naiads help the crew fight off the Slavers.
2.Or when MLG falls in the water, the naiads save her.
3.In the Book it says:
“ While all this was being done Caspian missed no chance of questioning all the oldest sea captains whom he could find in Narrowhaven to learn if they had any knowledge or even any rumors of land further to the east”
Maybe instead of Caspian asking the sea captains if they know anything, he asks the Naiads?
The Value of myth is that it takes all the things you know and restores to them the rich significance which has been hidden by the veil of familiarity. C.S. Lewis
^^ I like your theory on #2: "2.Or when MLG falls in the water, the naiads save her."
that could be so! but Rhince jumps in after her.....

I don't think they have taken the mer people out as I seem to remember a description being leaked from the movie about a battle with mer people taking place in the movie and everyone being annoyed as there was no battle in the book as the mer people couldn't leave the water. Then again was this a very early bit of information when the script wasn't finalised? Maybe it was scrapped if so!
Also, didn't early on we get some concept art from the movie, and one of them was of some merpeople?

Hmm, I think it's rather weird that a mysterious creature like a water nymph is just hanging around by the docks of such a populous island—in the books, they only seem to appear under special circumstances like coronations and festivals and such—and I find it especially odd that they would go anywhere near a place like Narrowhaven. I wonder if the nymph was captured by slavers, then freed after Caspian ousted Gumpas?
