Since we now know that it could be who-knows-how-long before Walden Media makes another film, we could talk about possiable companies to pick-up where Walden left off. I personally think it would be really cool if the same company who made, Facing The Giants, Fireproof, and Couragous, make the rest of the movies.
because, they are clearly a christian company, they will have more respect for the films. Any other thoughts?

Sherwood Pictures isn't a good choice because:
A.) The actors they choose are incredibly cheesy
and
B.) They generally make low-budget movies.
I would say Warner Brothers would be a great choice.

Warner Bros. is my choice. Maybe since their Harry Potter franchise is over, maybe they'd like to pick up another popular fantasy series. I think WB would give the films a lot of promotion and appreciate the source material.

Personally, I found all the behind the scenes stuff to be much more interesting and real than Sherwood Pictures movies. Yes, they're a Christian movie but they also don't make good quality movies.

Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11

but what other companies would be good? besides WB I mean.
hmmm.... I DO NOT want Disney! [-( Sorry to all the people who do but they won't do a good job! I mean sure, they are popular but they might screw up the movie! (Again...)

Who would you guys want to take on the franchise?

My vote is for Warner Bros. With their Harry Potter franchise over, WB might be willing to work on another fantasy series. Also I think I'd trust them with the source material more than Fox. ;)

What do you NarniaWebbers think?

Warner Bros. could work. They have great marketing strategies sometimes, and they at least know how to make good films even if they are not great adaptations. Something I do love about Warner Bros. I'm discovering is that they are willing to take big risks on things. Where the Wild Things Are, a movie produced by them, was delayed for a year because they director felt that there had been some scenes that hadn't "felt right" to him. Warner Bros. allowed this to happen, increasing the budget up to $100 million, if I'm recalling this correctly. Where the Wild Things overall ended up a flop, just exceeding its hefty budget. Even with this, the movie got good reviews, and even though the movie would seem targeted to families, it was more of a film for adults than children, although all can enjoy it. :)

But I think I would like a different company to try out a fantasy series.

New Line Cinema has been suggested by some, but with them making LotR, and many people accusing Narnia of being a kid's version of this fantasy epic trilogy, yeah... probably not a good idea.

Another suggestion from other Narnia fans I've gotten is that Sherwood Pictures should try them, after many of them have liked their other films, like Courageous especially. Sorry, I really would rather not have Sherwood pictures try this. In fact, if this were to happen, I would probably wait for the DVD to watch a Narnia movie by them. I think Sherwood tends to focus too much on Christian themes in their films, from what I've heard, despite the fact many people, not the critics, have enjoyed them.

Narnia is much more complex than just having a Lion who we know as Jesus in this world. Lewis has many themes weaved into the stories that are very dire to the books. I'm afraid Sherwood would put too much emphasis and cut down on subtlety when Aslan was on screen. Think of the scene in Walden's VDT when Lucy says, "You've just got to have faith about these things.",but in every minute of the movie. Hearing this line just once in a movie like Narnia is fine to me, but not every single scene. %-(

Well, we'll just have to wait and see what happens I guess.

I think with Sherwood Pictures you would definitely get films that were closer in content to the books (which would be a major plus) but I don't think they have those kinds of funds yet.

I really have no idea who would be best to take over - I'm just hoping that they stick closer to the source material than PC or VDT did.

Further up and further in!!

If Sherwood Pictures made the rest of the Narnia movies, I doubt I would even bother to watch the trailer. I think those of you suggesting they take over the franchise are wildly overestimating the talents and funding available to that particular production company. Their films are all made on a shoe-string budget and filmed locally. They've yet to do so much as break the 50 million dollar mark in the box office. And, quite frankly, their films are filled with cheesy, hamfisted, cliched writing and the acting leaves much to be desired. I'd rather never have another Narnia movie again than have another wretched abomination of an adaptation that will make the franchise that much more of a laughingstock.

That exactly would be the problem with Sherwood Pictures.

Normally for me a film's special effects or budget doesn't matter; it is rather the story itself that I depend on. However, Narnia on the big screen would require a larger budget if they wanted it to look like a serious movie. Sherwood Pictures would probably make Narnia look like another of the BBC Chronicles.

Now Courageous has been a surprising success for its minimal budget. Even with that, I think that Sherwood could at least try to find better actors and scriptwriters and crew and whoever else is involved in movie production. I sure hope that they can, if there were a chance they decided to do the Narnia films. If the special effects can't save the film, can the acting and script please do it then? I can't see the point in hiring the same old script writers that cause your movies to be panned by the critics. It is my worst fear for the Narnia series at this point that Sherwood Pictures would make a Narnia movie, so cheesy with its acting, script, and special effects that I would even believe that this film came from a great book series.

If this happens, I won't even try to watch the trailer.

I'm a Christian and I love Sherwoods' movies but I would not want them to do Narnia.

One thing no one has mentioned is what about the BBC? What if, with modern technology, they filmed the remaining books that they didn't do? It'd certainly be better than their past Narnia films. Although, they might have a word-by-word adaption. 8-|

Interesting thing you being up about the BBC. Perhaps if they did a reboot of the Narnia series, it could actually work well, or better than the 1980's series.

Technology has definitely changed in the media. Doctor Who, for example, (They do Doctor Who, right?) has been rebooted, and has very good quality special effects. Maybe a new Narnia would work better technically for the BBC, as opposed to having a 10 foot tall Mr. and Mrs. Beaver struggling to walk through the snow? :p

Another good thing that could come of that is Narnia is rather episodic in my opinion. Instead of rushing through scene after scene, themes and ideas could be better expressed.

However, a problem with this for me is that I live in America, and I don't get BBC America at all on my TV. :p

As for going word-for-word, I think the BBC would actually avoid that now. The BBC productions were on a very limited budget, bear in mind, and they weren't going to hire BAFTA winning scriptwriters to do the script. Now of course would probably be a better time to have a better script and effects.

Cool idea, but not without flaws.

Lionsgate definitely not, they make horrible movies, such as that Conan the Barbarian remake and Hunger Games looks just as silly.
Disney was perfect, they gave good budget to the filmmakers, alas the boxoffice dropped drastically.
I've no idea who could replace Walden Media and Fox, maybe Universal or Sony, a filmstudio that doesn't have a big franchise on his own (cause otherwise the Narnia series will be just one of the many franchises, and easily cast aside if it doesn't make tons of money). What matters most is a good, reasonable budget, good script writer and passionate director.
