[Closed] VODT is a girl's film?

In an interview recently, Apted said,''"Dawn Treader" will have more appeal to girls than the previous films.''
What on earth does he mean by that? Is he referring back to when Adamson said about Prince Caspian,''"This one is more of a boy's movie.''
Does he mean it is not like Prince Caspian? Does he mean that there are more romantic scenes with RD and Caspian? What does he mean?

Well, I hope it means we see more of Lucy truly being the "Valiant". That she is seen as more of a role model to girls, like Dorothy is considered in The Wizard of Oz, in the sense that she can single handly save the DT crew by making the Dufflepuds visible. Also, I hope it's because there's less of the battles seen. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for them, but there's no need for one big battle to save all in VDT. We've seen it over and over in LWW and PC (as was needed), VDT doesn't need it too (non-book followers are going to get bored).

I really hope it's not because they've upped the romance side of things. Only because of the whole Susan and Caspian bit in PC. As of right now, I don't think we can know 100% of what Apted means by this statement. Seeing the whole film will let us know.

I got the feeling he meant there was more Lucy and less battles.

I agree, I think it boils down to increased humour, increased adventure, increased elements of romance and attraction, less battle and less verbal and phsyical conflict.
Although I think that VDT already appeals to a broader range of movie and reader audience memebers than PC, but I htink that they will emphasize that even more due to the poor boxoffice performance of PC and it was a very conflict focusssed movie with a long battle scene.

I think he was refering to Lucy and how she discovers her true beauty and how that will relate to girls more than boys. I dont think that means it wont appeal to boys, but that girls will have a big chance of liking it too :D

6 I agree with joy93! And I also hope it's a mixture with Caspian's relationship with Lilliandil! :D

Josh, you should have no grounds on which to worry. Can you imagine Fox, Walden, or any of the big-wigs involved suggesting, "let's cut off half of our audience for this film by making it a chick flick."? :| No! All that was said is that this film will appeal to girls more than the previous films, nothing more. He didn't say that it wouldn't appeal to guys as well. I mean, come on, there will be an epic battle with a sea serpent at the end!

Haha, i don't think (fear) Narnia is becoming the new Twilight.
It will just be a bit more kid-friendlier than Prince Caspian, and the relationships between the characters will be central in the story, not the epic battles.

Pay this comment no heed. He's just doing what Fox and Walden and everyone involved with this production have been bending over backwards to communicate to people: VDT will not be like PC.

I think he just means that it will appeal more to girls than PC did. I don't think he means that more girls than boys will be interested in seeing it, but that the ratio of boys to girls will be more even than it was for PC.

Did someone say there was a part where Caspian confuses Lucy with Susan in the trailer? I watched the trailers today but didn't see that scene. And if this turns into a chick flick, I will be very disappointed.

"Why? Do I look older?"

I'm not worried about Caspian mistaking Lucy for Susan - after all, he did like Susan (boy to girl stuff, not grand romance), and this very wet person with her long brown hair stuck to her head looks quite a bit like Susan - she has grown up to look more like her 'sister'. Caspian will no doubt still be pleased to see little sister Lucy. It does also plant the idea for us that Lucy looks like Susan, to help us understand the magic book picture of her looking just like Susan. The non-fans need help to understand it too!

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
