I discovered earlier this week that VDT will have a special premiere on February 13 in Japan. The theatrical release is still February 25. And Ben and Georgie are attending. It's supposed to be a contest - just like the Operation Narnia thing on December 9 here in the US. The contest has now ended. But this is all I know. And it came from Fox Narnia - Japan [see the link below]. Google won't translate text inside an image. So can anyone read Japanese? Thanks!
I live in Japan, but I think by the time I found out about this, the contest had ended.
Anyway, the big writing at the top says (which you can probably tell) "The Chronicles of Narnia 3: Aslan and the Magical Islands" (I still hate how they had to call it that. )
Then below it's saying that there are 100 winners to the contest, in pairs of 2, so 50 pairs.
I can translate the text below if you'd like, but it's really just a summary of the movie, explaining how this is a new adventure into Narnia's unexplored seas, in 3D like "Avatar" for the first time, how there is a greater threat than the White Witch, the "Fog" , which they must fight against. You get the idea.
It doesn't seem like there's any more information about the contest, really. Sorry.
EDIT: I was looking around on the Japanese website, and found a little more info. The premiere opens at 4:30, and the movie starts at 5:00, ending around 7:30. As well as Georgie Henley and Ben Barnes, it's being attended by several of the actors that did the voice dubbings for the Japanese version. It doesn't sound like it's too big of an event, that the actors will be talking on stage or something, and then they'll all go and watch the movie, which is the dubbed version.

If the movie begins at 5:00, why isn't it ending earlier than 7:30? The movie wasn't even over 2 hours long...
that's a bit strange...
"I'm a beast I am, and a Badger what's more. We don't change. We hold on. I say great good will come of it... And we beasts remember, even if Dwarfs forget, that Narnia was never right except when a son of Adam was King." -Trufflehunter
Yeah, I must have misunderstood it - it isn't very clear. I think the entire event is from 5:00 to 7:30, and doors open at 4:30. Somewhere else it states that the movie is 1 hour 52 minutes long, so that fits.

Aslan and the Magical Islands? Aslan is only like 4 minutes in the entire movie
Thanks for the info, Aslans Country!
It may not sound like a big event, but it's still Georgie and Ben promoting the movie in Japan. So far for this movie, the Narnia actors have only appeared in the US and UK. The schedule is similar to the US and UK premieres: appearing on stage, watching the movie.
Aslan and the Magical Islands? Aslan is only like 4 minutes in the entire movie
My understanding is that the marketing of the movie tailored to each country. Fox must have done some reseach that concluded that Aslan is a major draw in Japan - hence "Aslan" in the movie title.

Out of curiosity Aslans Country, how is the book title of VDT translated in Japanese? Normally for Asian character-writing they have to pretty much match the "spirit" of the title. I guess picture characters would maybe translate as "Journey of the ship that sails during the dawn" or something like that?

220chrisTian, yeah, I wasn't trying to downgrade the importance of the event or anything , I just got that impression from the text.. and I don't know too much about premieres.
And you're welcome.
stateofgreen, I haven't actually read VDT in Japanese, but the title, roughly translated, would be "Dawn-ship, to the Eastern Sea". Since Japanese isn't solely made up of 'picture characters' (for want of a better term) and has a phonetic script as well, they can manage to translate fairly accurately. "Dawn-ship" is "The Dawn Treader", and yes, it sounds more natural in Japanese.

EDIT: we have video as well
You'll come back when they call you
No need to say goodbye
I wonder if there'll be a Japan press conference soon? After all, that's what they did for LWW and PC.
