I don't want the corridor or the mask to move either. I think things get less scary when they start to get weird. I also never thought that the hall got longer, but only that Lucy thought it did.

There are no clouds in the sky. There is only the open sun and the Lord watches.

very true, decarus. it would get weird. i like the idea of the hall getting longer, but not too much longer. The masks making faces is a little weird... i dunno. But they HAVE to have the bearded mirror!!!!!!!

I saw the movie....and was disappointed

I voted "Other things happen, please share."

I would like the corridor to lengthen because that would be nice and creepy, but I think the masks should not make faces.
It's too Harry Potter-like.

However, Lucy seeing herself in the bearded mirror and freaking out for a moment (like in the book) might lend some comic relief to a tense situation.

When do the masks make faces in Harry Potter?

There are no masks making faces specifically in HP, but it strikes me as Potterish because there are so many elements like that in the movies.

Consider the moving portraits at Hogwarts and the talking shriveled heads on the night bus.

I voted:Other things happen. In the magic corridor I don't want things to happen as much a Lucy should think things are happening. She needs to think the magic corridor is getting longer and that the masks are making faces rather than it actually happening. Lucy doesn't now as yet that the magician is good and that this is a "good" corridor. So if they showed her being really scared and suddenly looking at a mask out of focus, which appeared to be making faces until it came into focus; then, it would be shown that the mask had not been making faces after all. As far as the corridor I don't think it should get longer but rather reveal more of itself. At first glance the corridor appears to be only so long but once someone starts walking in it they realize that there was more to it than they thought. One the spookiest things for Lucy could be looking back to look at a mask or to where she came from and then turning around only to find that all the masks are different. Also I think the corridor should never appear to get longer but should never appear to get shorter. Lucy should be going along with the corridor looked the same as ever when all of a sudden she bumps her head into the end of the passage, the end which she never saw coming.

Oh, i see. Neither of these are scary. I was trying to think of scary talking faces on Harry Potter and didn't think of any. The heads on the night bus are not in the book, that is a film thing.

Actually, I had in mind a little bit of both ideas:
When the masks move, only the audience sees them and they stop when Lucy turns around. But when she turns back to go down the hall, it appears longer to both her and the audience.

It will be interesting to see how the screeenwriters and Michael Apted portray this scene. :)
