I know this may not be the proper place but I wasn`t sure where else to put it. Does anyone know if their going to make any sort of Narnia convention to help promote the release of VDT? I guess its kind of early to be asking, but I was curious. I know a year or so ago there was one in California but that was sponsored by another Narnia fan base like this one I think. Also , Disney put together something in New York . It was a event where Ben Barnes , William Mosley and the actor who played Trumpkin were asked questions by fans and the press. I wondered if Fox or any Narnia fan bases out there were planning anything of the sort for this year?
As far as I know, there is nothing in the works on the part of the fansites.
This may not be quite what you mean, but I'm keeping my eye on Comic-Con which is coming up rapidly (next month in fact) because Fox did a lot of promoting for Avatar last year, so I'm hoping they'll do something for Dawn Treader and Gulliver's Travels this year.
And any other promotions like the one you're referring to are still a long ways off. I wouldn't expect them until late November, early December.
Where is comic-con going to be held at F_K? i hope it's in Los Angeles. I'll be there then!
Long Live King Caspian & Queen Liliandil Forever!
Jill+Tirian! Let there be Jilrian!
Comic-Con is held in San Diego (isn't it usually there? I can't remember)
Preview night is July 21 and then it runs the 22-25.
No schedules yet though, so I don't even know for sure if Fox will have something there.
Shoot! I will be out of California around then. I'll be there around the 9th-17th. I hope they change the date around the 10th- the 16th. I'm hoping. Please please please.

I guess there will be no second LionCon then. The original one was awesome!
I'd be interested to see whether or not there is a specially dedicated VDT panel at Comic-Con this year, given that Fox have thus far being going very strongly for the Family/Christian markets, and might perhaps see Disney's previous attempts to capture the hearts of the more adult movie geek fan community on Prince Caspian as being something to avoid this time around.
Not only that, but they have been keeping things very close to their chest so far, and there has been very little officially released material so far on this movie, so they might not be willing to give too much away at any Comic-Con panel.
That said, here is our first DawnTreader related piece of programming from Comic-Con:
Movie Designer and Illustrator Panels at Comic-con 2010
Have you ever wondered how the fantasy worlds in your favorite movies get designed, who thinks up the look of that spaceship? Well, at Comic-Con this year the people who do that very thing—production designers, will be on a panel revealing all and answering fan questions. They include Barry Robison, the man who designed the soon to be released “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader;” Kirk Petruccelli, responsible for one of the “Fantastic Four” movies and “Lara Croft,” as well as “Blade;” and Oliver Scholl, who designed “The Time Machine” and a little film called “Independence Day.” For something a little different there’s Mimi Gramatky (“Lost”) who is currently filming 12 eight-minute webisodes of “10,000 Days,” probably the most ambitious film in the genre ever made. Its many sets represent the world 10,000 days after a comet strikes the earth in 2011, leaving just about everyone burnt to a crisp or frozen solid. This show will eventually be a TV movie and hopefully a theatrical film. Mimi will show a clip from the film. John Muto, who designed the Terminator 2: 3D show, will moderate. All this takes place on Friday (7/23) at 1:00 p.m.

According to the official website, the full schedule should be posted about ten days to two weeks prior to the show, so that would be anywhere between the 8th and the 12th of this month. Hopefully we might even know a little sooner than that if we have anything substantially Narnia related to look froward to, as several of the major studios have already revealed their line-ups.
The full Comic-Con schedule is now out and predictably, but still disappointingly, there is to be no dedicated Narnia panel at Comic-Con this year. In fact, there isn't even a 20th Century Fox Panel this year, which even more odd, given that you would think they would want to build up some early buzz amongst the comic book fans for their soon to be shooting X-Men First Class movie, but no.
I guess we shall have to be content with the Production Designer panel mentioned above, and whatever may be on the exhibition floor - Fox Home Entertainment have a stand at 4313 and HarperCollins have a stand at 1318. Both long-shots perhaps given that Fox Home Entertainment are primarily focused on DVD and other home releases, and HarperCollins are more likely to be there to promote any graphic novels and such they may publish - but we can always keep our fingers crossed.
Disappointing. It's an interesting decision by 20th Century Fox not to have a panel this year, seeing that Comic Con is a great way to build early buzz for upcoming films. Hopefully this decision doesn't come back to bite them, as there are panels for both Harry Potter and Tron: Legacy, two films that could end up being VDT's biggest competitors come December.
I was also really, really hoping to get some new info on X-Men: First Class
Things looking up a little bit... a hint at a second panel with Narnia-related interests.
First off read the following from the schedule for Saturday.... no mention of Narnia right?
1230 Costume Designers and Costume Illustrators: Designing for Feature Films
Costume Designers work in collaboration with Directors, Production Designers, Directors of Photography and Actors in creating fantastic and memorable stories told via moving images. Characters created by writers and Comic Book Illustrators are made real for the screen via the artistry of Costume Designers. Moderator Susan Nininger, Costume Designer (Bodyguard), and Member of the Costume Designers Guild, Local 892, hosts Costume Designers and Illustrators from CDG, local 892: Michael Wilkinson and Phillip Boutte Jr. (Jonah Hex), Christine Bieselin Clark (Co-Designer, Tron) , Ha Nguyen (Priest), Laura Jean Shannon (Scott Pilgrim), and Shawnelle Cherry (10,000 Days). Room 5AB

But then read the associated autograph signing event that is occuring more or less straight after the panel:
Costume Designers & Costume Illustrators: Designing For Feature Films
Michael Wilkinson, costume designer, Jonah Hex, Tron Legacy; Phillip Boutte Jr., illustrator, Jonah Hex; Christine Bieselin Clark, co-esigner, Tron Legacy; Isis Mussenden, costume designer, Narnia; Oksana Nedavniaya, illustrator, Narnia.
Saturday AA1 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_autographs_grp.php
Two extra names appearing on the list - Isis Mussenden and Oksana Nedavniaya both of Narnia costuming fame! Seems unlikely they would both show up just for the autographs section, so perhaps they were just unfortunate to get cut off the synopsis for the main event due to word limits? Or maybe they are special guests of the main panel and so weren't mentioned in the main synopsis? Or maybe even they are up to something else??? Either way, positive news!
The Barry Robison panel also has its own associated Autograph signing after it
EDIT:
Don't know why i didn't think of doing this before, but in a quick search of other Narnia related people who may be appearing at Comic-Con for other projects, i found that Howard Berger is on a panel as well...
530 The Winston Effect
Creature and VFX luminaries discuss Stan Winston's impact on the art of character creation -- past, present and future. The panel will include messages from Jim Cameron and Tim Burton about a thrilling new Stan Winston endeavor. Panelists include John Rosengrant (Stan Winston lifer and co-owner of Legacy Effects), Shane Mahan (Academy Award nominated co-owner of Legacy Effects), J. Alan Scott (animatronic effects supervisor and co-owner of Legacy Effects), Alec Gillis (Academy Award–nominated co-founder of Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc.), Tom Woodruff, Jr. (Academy Award–winning co-founder of Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc.), Howard Berger (Academy Award–winning co-owner of KNB EFX), Van Ling (VFX supervisor), Alex Alvarez (founder and president, Gnomon School of Visual Effects), and Matt Winston (actor and co-founder of SWSCA). Followed by a Q&A session. Room 7AB
Whether or not he would get a chance to talk about anything to do with Narnia on a panel dedicated to Stan Winston is another matter, though you can always rely on Howard Berger's enthusiasm for Narnia to produce at least something Narnia related to comment on
Anyway, there might even be more Narnia related individuals buried away in the Comic-Con schedule just without any specific Narnia reference attached to them.... Someone should look, though not me, i need to get some sleep
I don't know how I missed the bit about Isis and Oksana. I searched all of the pages for 'Narnia' and somehow that one didn't come up or I skimmed right over it.
I did find Howard Berger but didn't add him to the news story because the panel he's part of is talking about Stan Winston. I didn't think it was likely Narnia would come up there.
I remembered a story today that i had about Oksana Nedavniaya which i thought was amusingly appropriate, given she is set to appear alongside Isis Mussenden at Comic-Con this year.
Anyway, according to an article i read a while back, Oksana first met Isis at the autograph session for the Costume Designers panel at Comic Con back in 2006. Apparently she went along to the autograph session with her costume illustration portfolio in hand and Isis was so impressed with her work that she brought her on board for Prince Caspian. And now they set to appear alongside each other at the exact same Autograph session, pretty cool huh?
Anyway, article here:

And another article which i found whilst looking for that article here:

Did I miss something?
Fox: From 20th Century Fox, watch for a presentation on "Machete" with star Danny Trejo and director Robert Rodriguez, a Comic-Con favorite. Fox will also be pushing this winter's "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" and possibly its more comedic take on "Gulliver's Travels" with Jack Black. Is it too early for anything on next summer's "Rise of the Apes" and "X-Men: First Class"? Probably, but don't be surprised if some "X-Men" cast announcements are made official during the weekend.
WHERE are they going to be pushing it? At their booth? In a panel that wasn't talked about? MORE INFO PLEASE FOX!!!!!
About that 20th Century Fox presentation for "Machete" with Danny Trejo and Robert Rodriquez... according to Aint It Cool News, they are doing the presentation (which includes exclusive footage and everything else you would expect of a Comic-Con panel) on Thursday night in a special built Taco Truck located outside in the Car Park (seriously). It actually does sound kind of cool though:
http://www.aintitcool.com/node/45855
So that explains why that Fox Presentation didn't show up on the official schedule of Comic-Con Panels, so perhaps MSN had some prior information on that and may actually be correct on the VDT part afterall (assuming they aren't just assuming that Fox will probably do something for VDT too)
