I think I fear a lot of the same things as everyone else. For me, the most important thing in VDT is the theme of discovery and temptation. I really do not want that to be changed. I also hope they keep all of the Aslan scenes. I do not want Aslan downplayed the way He was in PC. Also, the un-dragoning of Eustace and his conversation with Edmund afterwards are very important to me. I hope they don't cut any of that out.

I also hope they don't throw in any unnecessary "Hollywood" attributes, such as pointless battles or meaningless crushes/romances. The whole unfathomable fate thing worries me a bit, as well, but I think I can swallow it.

As for Ramandu's daughter, I actually don't mind if they play that out a little bit, as long as they don't make it into a "Hollywood" romance. Seriously, I nearly gag just thinking about it. I hope it ends up being a really sweet romance, not gushy and sex-oriented (I doubt it, but worst-case scenario...*shudders*).

But, yeah, that pretty much sums it up. I have a few more fears, but I'll just have to wait and see how things turn out.

I really hope that the whole "Eustace's transformation and undragoning" scene goes nearly verbatim from the book. It won't be as long as in the book, because about a third of that scene (especially when it's just Eustace) is description. And also the "fight" on the beach and Reepicheep's single combat idea, as well as the conversation between Edmund and Eustace. I really hope that it is just them (I read somewhere that they are the "two black sheep of the seven friends of Narnia". Adding Lucy and/or Caspian would be just plain weird. I hope that the scene between Lucy and Coriakin (I misspelled his name, I know, but it's close!) emerges intact. Honestly, if the filmmakers stay close to the book, they will have a blockbuster movie, even from people who are unfamiliar with the books or VotDT. The book is just an awesome adventure- let the movie be that way too! You only need so much action in a movie. Let the characters tell the story. The MLG, granted, was a surprise, but I'll remain optimistic. That is, until I see the trailer and start ranting and raving about how they should have and could have made the movie better and/or closer to the book. ;) I could go on and on about the other scenes that I want to remain untouched, but you all have read the book- almost every single scene in there is awesome! If you haven't read the book, then I suggest that you do!
Another scene that is possibly my favorite in VotDT is the scene where everyone gets captured by Pug. Caspian rescues all. I'm fearing that if there is a Lucy/Caspian romance planned (that would be horrible!) then Edmund and Reep will remain at the slave market, but Lucy will be dragged off (not close to the book) and Caspian (instead of Edmund- I actually might not mind a lot if this did happen, but if it does, it should be Ed!) must ride off and save his fair queen! This is so disgusting that I want to... never mind what I want to do. But that would add some more Caspian/Edmund tension... hopefully Edmund will learn from his brother's mistakes and not be challenging! And I always thought that Lucy and Ramandu's daughter would be friends. That couldn't possibly happen if the said story took place. I sincerely hope that the movie is close to the book!
I agree with whoever it was that said that if they gave Ramandu's daughter a name, it would ruin the mystery shrouding her. In my mind, it'd have to be a pretty good name. Not "Starlight" or something like that! Look at Ramandu and Coriakin- they have different names. Let Ramandu's daughter remain a secret!

^I think they might have Caspian/Edmund tension. I mean there is a little in certain parts of the books, like Deathwater and when Caspian wants to go to the end of the world. Edmund blatanly states he's not Caspian's subject and he's brother to the high king, who rules over Caspian. They might expand on this, which I wouldn't be happy about since they had enough animosity between Peter and Caspian in PC.

I think they'll five RD a name too. It would be wierd to go around the whole movie calling her Ramandu's Daughter. People who haven't read the books would find it odd, probably.

1. I fear an added or unecessary character change, such as adding conflicts that are NOT in the book. Also developing the Caspian/Ramandu's Daughter romance into drastic proportions through the movie.

2. I fear excess battles, with the Lone Islanders or the Mer-people lucy sees.

3. ANY other drive or goal for the movie OTHER THAN finding the seven lost Lords. This combined with the quest to find the Utter East should be the true drive of their quest.

Probably the "undragoning" of Eustace...I'm afraid they'll take out the spiritual implications that C.S Lewis put in. As well as the end with the lamb(aslan) giving them breakfast(for the same reasons)

I saw the movie....and was disappointed

Honestly, I'm probably going to be upset about anything they change since Dawn Treader has always been one of my favorites of the series. Still, since changes must be made, here are the things that I think should be kept the same:
1. Edmund and Eustace's talk needs to stay just between them; no one else should be there.
2. The Christian messages at the end need to stay, especially Aslan's words about how he has another name in our world.
3. No excessive fighting between Edmund and Caspian. There needs to be some of the arguing since that was actually in the book, but it shouldn't be overdone(*cough*like Peter in PC*cough*).
4. The part when Eustace attempts to fight the sea monster needs to be in it, too. I feel that this point is very important for Eustace's character.
5. The scene with Lucy in the magician's house needs to be kept as well. Once again, it is important for character development.

1 characterization changes
2 not including or changing the lamb to lion scene
3 including new major characters (I'll be okay with the MLG just as long as she isn't to big of a character)
4 Ramandu not being in the movie
5 major plot changes for abesolutely no reason, especially if they take away from the future books plot (ex. Susan/ Caspian thing)

Another thing I want to say here is that I hope Caspian doesn't mention a conversation about Susan at all period..

I dont want him sobbing about her like how Bella misses Edward and that the reason why he hasn't married yet is because of Susan. Nothing to do with her, it's been three years he should have moved on or else it'll come out cliche and will make him a cad when he meets RD.

If he must mention her it should be when Caspian asks how Peter and Susan are doing and that's it!

^Yes, I wholeheartedly agree with that, DamselJillPole! It's bad enough that Susan and Caspian kissed; if he repeatedly mentions her, it would make him a total hypocrite to fall in love with RD so easily.
A change I kind of fear is that they will make the swords subplot too big of a part in VDT. I hope it'll be just a sort of "oh, since we can't take the body, let's take their sword to remember them by" sort of thing. If they have to actually do something special or if finding the swords (and not the lords) is somehow turned into some big epic quest that has to do with the Fate Of The World, I would like the movie a whole lot less.

Caspian would not be a total hypocrite because he kissed Susan.

Guys have several different girlfriends before they get married and they usually kiss. Does that mean they don't love their wives and that they were cheating on them for being in a relationship earlier? NO!

And there wasnt even a romance between Caspian and Susan. There was a small crush and Susan impulsivly kissed him goodbye. THe kiss didnt start a relationship. It was her way of saying goodbye FOR GOOD, and it meant that they would never see each other again.

Just because Susan kissed Caspian in a last minute decision (and notice it was she who kissed him and its not like he's going to stop he, when he knows she's going through an emotionally hard time) does not mean that Caspian is to be forever tied down to her. It was a teenage puppy romance that in no way affects his relationship with RD.

I know this is a long post, but I keep hearing it over and over and its sorta ridiculous.

Heck, forget liking the movie less, I'll seriously consider walking out the theater if the swords are a part of some idiotic Save the World!!11!! plot.

Josh you completely missed the point on what I was saying and what Pyxis said.

I too get the point that it was not a romance between Susan and Caspian and that the kiss from Susan was only her way of saying goodbye to Narnia or just being the self centered person she turns out to be. But most hopeless romantics looks at it in that way when the fact is that Susan and Caspian will never see each other again. And even though it was Susan who kissed Caspian the attraction was on both parts not just Susan.

What i meant was that I hope the script does not make Caspian ponder, whine, etc about Susan throughout the journey of the movie and then stops when he meets RD. He'll come out as a cad and yes a complete hypocrite. It would ruin the movie if so and the plague of the dreadful Suspian's shall never stop!!! WAHHHH!!!!!!! :((

Suspian ruined the magic of the Narnian stories and Caspian and RD's first love for each other. please VDT crew fix it.

Everyone here has very good arguments and many well founded fears. There are just so many ways to continue to ruin the Chronicles (began with the Suspian thing as we all know) and may scenes they could get wrong. However in the last few weeks there have been some encouraging news. But still, we cannot be sure until we finally see the finished thing. So until then, I'm still in fear.
