It was a lot of fun being on the bus ( those are my pictures) but very hot, blazing hot day for the Santa Parade here in Auckland. No air conditioning,I had to keep saying to my daughter just smile and wave, smile and wave ;;)

Yay, welcome back, Wingles!!

And here's the link to the other site you shared with me today:

Narnia at the Auckland Zoo

I want to come....but I am not in Auckland.

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

Nobody who I've talked to, even if they liked Narnia, had any idea that a 3rd film was being made. Testament to the terrible promotion of the film this time around.

I am just waiting to tomorrow about midday. That is when the Royal premier will be finished for sure, given the time lag between here and UK. It seems that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, themselves, are going to attend this do. Not just any minor royal. ;) In Friday's Australian, Queen Elizabeth was photo'ed in the Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi, so she has been doing some travelling lately.

I just hope everything goes the way I hope it will. :-s

I just saw another TV spot (and it's funny when we only have the TV on for maybe an hour a day that I would see it!). I thought it was a good thing, considering all the publicity there's been for Tangled and Tron lately. (This time, it didn't catch me at all surprised, because I was hoping I'd see one. ;) )

There were no new shots except for

Spoiler
a shot of Dragon Eustace flying through the air and being on fire! :-o
I've read hints throughout other parts of NW forums about that, but I never wanted to see it until the movie. 8-|

I saw the same TV spot. I've also seen the film. That scene you describe is not what you think it is. :D

A few interesting things i saw today:

1. I just saw an advert on TV a few seconds ago for a competition on the Channel 5 website giving away a trip to White Island in New Zealand which provided the location for Goldwater Island in the movie!

http://win-narnia.co.uk/

2. I've seen quite a few banners on the side of the red double-decker buses around London, but haven't yet managed to catch a photo of one. They aren't quite as cool as the NZ bus with the all-over promotional design, but its nice to see nonetheless.

3. The front page of today's Times has a banner indicating Free Narnia stickers inside. Perhaps not the greatest of freebies, but its still front page exposure on a National newspaper which is always good.

4. The Narnia world premiere is being featured on tonights episode of the X-Factor, as most (but not all) of the remaining contestants attended the premiere as celebrity guests. In addition, a TV spot for Narnia was featured during the show which had an added bit on the end informing viewers that the soundtrack features music by Joe McElderry (the winner of last years' X Factor show). Anyway that's 15 million odd viewers right there, so big exposure as far as the UK is concerned.

Incidentally, its worth pointing out that the UK version of the movie does feature the Joe McElderry version of "A Place For Us" on the end credits, though it seemed to be a slightly less-poppy and more orchestral performance of the song compared to the single release of it (or rather its the B-Side to his regular single "Someone Wake Me Up")

There is a promotion at Hungry Jack's for VDT. I believe that in USA Burger King is roughly synonymous to Hungry Jack's, an Australian rival to MacDonalds. Children get plastic toys and a free ticket to the Zoo with their cheeseburgers or other kiddie meals.

I went to the trouble of skipping breakfast so that I was hungry enough to bite the bullet if not the hamburger, and got a Tavros keyring for my trouble :D They let me buy the three other toys which were: a Reepicheep keyring and two models of the Dawn Treader and of Aslan. This is why VDT had to be PG, I expect.

Oh! Good find waggawerewolf! :D I think we had all been so focused on the thought of McDonalds Happy Meal toys we failed to consider the possibility of Burger King. I recall my friend came back from Australia once with a Hungry Jacks t-shirt, which kind of blew my mind as its the same logo just a different name - they are as you say more-or-less the exact same company, just branded differently for various reasons. I really do hope the promotion translates across to Burger King over here as well, that would be very cool. :)

Anyway, i found a short advert for the promotion which shows the toys you described:

Oh, wow! I really do have to update my list of VDT collectibles now. Those are cool! I love the Reepicheep keyring. I hope I'll be able to get hold of these. :)
