wow, they are all the same height!
Or Georgie was standing on a box… Filmmakers will often adjust people's heights by having them stand on boxes.
Following on from yesterdays information indicating a possible VDT Shopping Mall Exhibit in the USA, another snippet of information possibly indicating a series similar Shopping Mall "Character Meet-and-Greet" events, this time in Malaysia.
The following job advertisement has been posted in a few places, and is seeking foreigners in Malaysia to play the roles of Caspian, Lucy and Edmund in a series of special character appearance and photo oppurtunity sessions at The Mines Shopping Centre in Malaysia.

The email address for the job posting seems to indicate the promotional event is being organised by a company called My Partners, a "marketing and communications agency specialising in lifestyle and youth marketing" based in Malaysia. Of course, whether or not the events go ahead would seemingly depend on the results of their job advertisement
I would have to say as well that i think the marketing team in Malaysia are excelling themselves so far - that's the second really cool promotional thing on this thread to originate in Malaysia, whilst most other territories have barely got started yet.
In more magazine news, as i'm sure you've all seen by now, the next issue of SFX Magazine is set to feature an article on VDT containing an interview with Michael Apted, the preview for which has recently gone online. The magazine itself, issue #203, is due out on November 17th in the UK. Here is a shot from the current issue of SFX magazine (#202) indicating that the Dawn Treader article is set to appear in the next issue:
Also, the two main UK movie magazines, Total Film and Empire have new issues out on October 28th and November 4th respectively. These realistically present the last possible opportunity for either magazine to do a sizeable preview or cover story for VDT before the movie is out (the subsequent issues should be out around November 25th and December 2nd, which would probably contain the final movie reviews, and would surely be too late for any significant preview or big cover story)
ADDED: Industry publication "Animation Magazine" is set to feature a behind the scenes look at the VFX of Voyage of the Dawn Treader in issue 208, due out on December 3rd

No idea though if it's the sort of thing we'd be able to get our hands on - maybe they might have some element of the article on their website. We haven't had much in the way of behind-the-scenes technical information on this movie - the official blog turned out to somewhat of a bust this time around.
The Official Voyage of the Dawn Treader Facebook page has today confirmed the US Shopping Mall exhibit i mentioned on the previous page:
Experience The Voyage of the Dawn Treader this holiday at Ice Palaces at select Taubman malls nationwide 11/12! Details to come soon.
"Ice Palaces" seem like an odd fit for VDT though. It is interesting that much of the marketing strategy for the movie so far seems to be "market it as if it were The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, and hope that no-one notices that the movie is actually completely different"

Exactly. And I'm getting tired of it. We can return to the magic of LWW but VDT is a different movie! Themes, plot, characters, etc!
Question: Narnia France posted this two days ago on their website. They say ToyDirectory.com is their source but I can't find proof of it on TD anywhere! Can somebody help me?

Google translation:
New Narnia figures available for Christmas!
From Toy Directory, despite sales shy and several product lines suspended after the failure of "Prince Caspian", Jakks Pacific and its subsidiary Play Along renewed acquisition of Narnia license to develop the new range of figurines and playsets inspired by "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader".
Faced with a box-office year-end of the busiest this new range should share the shelf with other large behemoths like "Rapunzel" and "Tron" from Disney, Mattel Toys and Spin Master, and "Harry Potter " Warner, Tomy and Lego.
Expected for the film in theaters, these new figures should be available for shopping / ordering Christmas in the month of November.
In France and Europe, distribution of this new range should be assured by the Italian Preziosi.
That's rather odd, since i contacted the Consumer Relations people at Jakks Pacific several weeks ago, and was told that they no longer hold the license for Narnia and would not be producing any products for the upcoming movie.
Back before Prince Caspian even came out we got wind that PlayAlongToys were developing action figures for Voyage of the Dawn Treader as well, but like everything else it seems that once Disney pulled out of the project, all the prior merchandising deals that had been in place with Disney Consumer Products were cancelled - such was the fate that befell the VDT Video Game.
I know Fox's Licensing Department were keen to acquire new licensee's, and were reported to be pushing the movie quite heavily at one of the big Licensing exhibitions early in the year, but since then i have yet to hear of a single company announcing it had secured a licensing deal for Narnia. Given that it's only 7 weeks till the movie is out, and only a few weeks more than that till Christmas, i can't honestly believe there are too many companies out there waiting to spring a last minute surprise with their announcements - it would make absolutely no business sense whatsoever.
Here it is: http://www.toydirectory.com/monthly/article.asp?id=4324
Personally, I have already searched everywhere but did not find anything yet... Too bad cause I would love new figures!
More promotional competition news.... Manchester based radio station Key103 is running a competition for tickets to a gala screening of the movie, plus an overnight trip to Bristol to visit The Matthew, which from the sounds of it will once again be decked out as the Dawn Treader in the coming weeks.
To enter however you need to be present at the Christmas Lights Switch-on in Manchester (UK) on October 28th from 5pm:

No word yet on wether the ship is going to make it's way all the way to London in time for the World Premiere events as has been rumored in the past, but its clear that the Matthew's voyage as the Dawn Treader is not yet over
@iFaun: Love the username! Welcome to the forum!
Thanks for posting the TD.com link. But it makes the story more confusing. Because Cyclops at AslansCountry.com contacted Jakks Pacific yesterday and they confirmed what icarus said: they didn't have the Narnia license anymore and wouldn't be developing any new products. Confused? So am I!
Just when I thought I had this movie figured out...
...Weird...
The first one looks cool, but of course they had to put the WW's head on it! And now I noticed they didn't even put the whole sail on! Ugh!
The second one made me blink five million times. Aslan's picture looks neat, but the when I saw six figures on the ground, my jaw just kept hanging! At first I was like "Did they seriously put doubles of Lucy and Eustace on there?!" But then, I noticed the one that's second from the right is wearing high heels, and realized the two strangers are no other then Susan and Peter! Whoever makes these things sure love to show returning characters like the WW, Peter, and Susan!
As much as I hate the WW being in the movie, I do like the symbolic imagery of her being the evil opposite of Aslan.
Btw, does anyone think that maybe...just maybe...Tilda is playing "The Blue Witch"? She's blue in all of the posters and there was talk about there being a "new witch".
Winter Is Coming
^^ Except that she shouldn't be the evil figure in the film. They could have had darkness or even dragon Eustace opposite Aslan. Now Eustace himself wouldn't combat Aslan However Aslan does defeat his sin. I also don't like the DT in poster one. However the second poster is nice.

-Thanks :]
Keeper of the Secret Magic
No, Josh, I think you will not find her playing a new character.
Nice try!
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
