Question for those of you who have seen the VODT trailer theatrically, before Toy Story 3 or whatever... Did anyone notice any reaction from other moviegoers? Or hear any comments made? I'm curious about how this trailer is being received out there...

I've sent the trailer link to three friends online. The responses I've gotten are "it looks really good," "looks like it could be the best of the three," and (from a friend who has only seen LWW and fell asleep during PC) "wow. it doesn't look terrible." (it looked better than she was expecting!)

So far... pretty positive!

EDIT: I hope this post is OK, even though it's not a theatrical audience.

"Oh telescope, keep an eye on my only hope,
Lest I blink and be swept off the narrow road.
Hercules, you've got nothing to say to me,
'Cause you're not the blinding light that I need.
For He is the saving grace of the Galaxies."

I had some of my family members watch it but they wanted to know where Caspian was and why Susan and Peter were there. I told them it was an awesome trailer and towards the end they were confused and thought the trailer was weird. When i showed it to some of my friends who haven't read the books said the trailer gave no story whatsoever and looked dumb and didn't like how they only marketed a couple of spots with effects and familiar faces just to drag audiences in. All 8 friends of mine said similar things like this. I have yet to see TS3 and see some of the other audiences reactions.

I always try to listen to peoples reactions after trailers, so naturally I was all ears after the Narnia trailer when I saw Toy Story 3. :)
I heard the guy behind me say “ Oh cool, I thought they weren’t going to have anymore”. So he seemed happy about it.
The overall feel after the trailer in my opinion was positive, my sister sat like five seats away from me and she too said everyone sounded positive behind her! :D

I'll be honest with you: Most of the negativity about the teaser trailer seems confined to some of the posters on this forum and the YouTube accounts of news posters. Outside of that bubble, I am running into a lot of positive reactions.

I haven't seen it in the theatre yet but I have also been looking and youtube and such. It seems most of the negativity comes from these forums, though there were some negative comments on other sites as well. Most were good. I have shown this to my mom, my sister, my neice, my nephew and my boyfriend and they all like it. My niece, who is nine and hasn't read the books yet had a few things to say.
1. Why is she there? I thought she was dead.
2. I thought those two weren't coming back.
3. #:-s That looks awesome!!!

Despite a few grumblings from us hardcore fans, everyone I've shown this trailer to (who generally know very little about Narnia) has had a very positive impression of Dawn Treader. I sent it to my mother, and she's going to take her class to it for their winter class trip!

So basically people who know nothing about Narnia love it? Um, yeah. /:)

Um, no. People who saw either LWW or PC or both and/or have read the books. One need not be totally ignorant of the franchise to appreciate or find several positives in the teaser trailer.

The overall reaction to the trailer, I feel, has been overwhelmingly positive. I saw TS3 on opening night and the VDT trailer played in front of it. It was just about the only trailer that the audience remained quiet through, which I think is a good sign. After it was over there was a lot of whispering, and I caught the guy behind me telling his friend that LWW was a good movie, and he sounded pretty excited about VDT. Not sure if he even realized PC had been made, honestly.

I've also got many friends coming up to me and commenting on the trailer, which never happened to me with LWW or PC. The majority of the comments were really positive. I even got a positive comment from a friend who loves the books and didn't care for the first two movies.

Admittedly I have had a few friends ask me why Peter and Susan are in the movie. Of course, I explained to them that I had no idea, except that we've been told multiple times that they do NOT appear in Narnia.

So yeah, I think he fact remains that, while I don't care for the trailer much, I think it has successfully captured peoples attention, which I'm glad about.

I'll always be a,

The vast majority of negative reactions I've seen have been on this site. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

But outside of NarniaWeb, the reactions have been VERY positive. Even on AICN, the comments were probably 2 good, 1 bad (and that's VERY high for that site). The number one comment goes something like this...

"I really hated PC, it was a terrible movie. But this looks awesome."

...except that we've been told multiple times that they do NOT appear in Narnia.

Correction. They do not RETURN to Narnia. That's a very important distinction to me.

My dad is a big Narnia fan, but he's not an obsessive fan of the NarniaWeb sort and he was disappointed in the trailer. He seemed more disappointed than I. Perhaps it was because I knew some of the changes they were making so I was prepared. But he didn't understand the return of Susan and Peter and in general found it confusing.

Other friends, however, seem to really like it and find it exciting. People who like Narnia or remember it from childhood, but haven't read the book in a while seem to like it. They probably expect changes and are just excited to return to the magical Narnia they remember.

My mom is exactly the same Kate. Her biggest disappointment was seeing the white witch.... again. My dad thought it looked awesome though. ;))

My six year old Narnia loving daughter's reaction (and I might add, a six year old who has watched the BBC's Dawn Treader and is familiar with the story) said:

"Well, that was weird."

LOL

She liked the Dufflepuds though.
