I know this type of thread has been done before, but in light of the mixed feelings regarding the latest film (I don't even want to mention its name because I really don't think it deserves it) and with the recent article by Micheal Flaherty, I want to resurrect this question. This thread really isn't for those who think that the last film is good. To you this will make no sense. But, to us who think the latest film bad, do you honestly want the franchise to continue just for the sake of it to continue? I know, it was such a good thing, but now it isn't. I really don't want the bad it's become to continue even if it means giving up wild dreams about ALL the books being made into moves. Horror films have never been my cup of tea don't you know!

Its something I have been thinking about as well. I didn't vote beacuse I'm not sure. If all the films end up looking like VDT, I don't really know what the point of making the films even is. However despite my disappointment with VDT, I still have hope for the rest of the series.
Part of me wants to see more Narnia films just beacuse they are Narnia films, no matter how they turn out (unless they are REALLy horrendous)...
For now, I can't decide.

Interesting, someone on the fence. I hope you're comfortable up there, in the middle. But, you should feel honored. I've given a poll option for all those fence-straddlers out there.

Well, for me personally I liked 2 movies and strongly disliked 1 movie. I'm personally not going to write off the rest of the series because of one movie I really didn't like, though I know many others feel differently.
Do I want them to complete the whole series? Sorta of. It really depends on the movie and who's involved. Right now, I am getting a little excited about the Magician's Nephew. Why? Because I know the production is really excited about this one and they're (hopefully) not approaching it like they did with Dawn Treader. "Well, C.S. Lewis didn't write these books coherently so we're borrowing from the book he didn't write...."
If they were making The Silver Chair next, I can tell you I'd be a whole lot more apprehensive.
So I guess my answer is that yes, I'm looking forward to MN, but depending on who's involved with SC and every movie after that will determine whether or not I want them to continue after that. So how should I vote?
I guess you should pick the option I picked: That only the films get made if the filmmakers have a comprehensive knowledge of what Lewis was all about and a deep passion and heart for the content.
You believe that the filmmakers truly do have a passion for this next movie and also understand what Lewis meant by it, right? Then, that's how you should have voted.

I want quality films, but I think the threshhold for 'quality' is subjective. To me, VDT is a quality product, and I think that it is faithful to its source material. I guess Watziznehm's question is more along the lines of 'Do you want to continue to see the rest of the movies converted to film if they are as they have been?'.
I would NOT want to see Magicians Nephew made to film BBC style, thats for sure.. and I'm sure that BBC is faithful to its source material.
your fellow Telmarine
I can't decide. Since quality hasn't been a constant between films two and three, my hope for seeing all of them made includes giving them more chances to improve...if the next one bombs as well then I feel they shouldn't make anymore. I would give them one last chance.

I'd say I really don't know. I do want good quality-made films, but besides one film being badly done, I don't feel like I want to downplay any more films until I see them. I agree, one more chance is worth it. But even if I disliked MN and they made another one, I'd still probably be interested in seeing it. It really all depends, so all I can say is until I see MN, I can't actually know what I'd rather have. There is too many issues for me to even try to choose one or the other.
I honestly didn't vote for either, because I think that you need a 4th option. I don't think anybody wants them to do a film no matter what. For instance if they cut the budget way, way down. On the other hand, one could argue that neither of the last to movies really fit the second choice. However, many people believe that Prince Caspian was a very well made movie, though not true to the source material. I believe the same of VDT, however many would not agree with me. It would be nice to see an option for more movies, if they are well made, though not really true to what C.S. Lewis wanted.
Alright, your wish is granted. A fourth option has been added!
EDIT: Oy, I wish the results wouldn't get destroyed every time I add a new option. Well, unfortunately, we are starting over -- and I won't start the poll over again. It's the last time!

I want the films to be made well, and i don't really mind if they don't stay EXACTLY as C.S. Lewis wrote them. I liked PC and VDT and thet seemed to be the main complaint. But so long as They don't invent completely new storys and just keep the title, i'll be reasonable happy (Although it would be nice to have the films exactly as the books are) I love the Narnia series and I couldn't stand to see it abandoned, so if anything can be done to ensure films are made well so others can follow, i'll be supportive!
Narnia is childhood...
Seriously, just give the kid the orange. He needs his vitamin C!
Narnia is Narnia to me. I'm hoping they get the next one, no matter what it is, right.
"I'm a beast I am, and a Badger what's more. We don't change. We hold on. I say great good will come of it... And we beasts remember, even if Dwarfs forget, that Narnia was never right except when a son of Adam was King." -Trufflehunter
I voted the second choice. I really dont mind plots getting mixed here and there, just as long it does not corrupt and ruin the characters. I like and want the characters in character based on the knowledge that CS Lewis gave them in the first place.

I liked (not loved) LWW, disliked PC, and hated VDT. With every film I've seen the franchise collapse more and more. I really do not want ANY more movies. It hurts to see them ruin these beloved books by making any and all changes to it and taking out the profound messages that are in the series. I'd rather have no movies than bad movies. I mean, I can't even watch PC and VDT without crying so what's the point of having them, for me at least, anyway? I'm tired of them giving the wrong portrayal of the stories- by watching these movies, most people aren't going to want to read the books. They look like typical, cliche, annoying, Hollywood summer fantasy flicks. Very dissapointing.
Although I have to say, I know if they do make more movies, I'll see them. I'm going to refuse to be hopeful this time around, there's no point in getting excited about nothing, but if they slap a Narnia logo on the film, I know my little Narnia geek heart can't help but want to see it. Just to see for myself if maybe they got it right this time. or if it's tolerable at least. But I have no expentancy that they will.
