I'm also wondering what you mean by continuity. Do you mean that it has the same overall faithfulness as the other two films? (I wasn't pleased with LWW and PC in that respect) What does, "It feels like Narnia" mean, exactly?
Haven't seen the footage, but I imagine what he means by that is that the overall look and feel of the movie is the same as the first two. Even though there is a new director and creative team, it's still the same Narnia we're used to seeing.
adamie, I was going to quote you, but I agree with most of your post, and that would have been way too long!
I must say that this is a definite relief. Unlike some people, I really don't mind a few changes, as long as those changes remain faithful to the overall theme and spirit of the original story. I'm just glad that Tirian felt good about the changes.
I'm also excited that Fox has been interested in Narnia from the start. It shows that they are very committed to the story and aren't just doing it for the money (which, I'm guessing, was Disney's motive).
Okay, adamie, I am going to quote you:
5) Just the concept art that we were shown of Aslan at the end of the film made my heart catch in my throat.
I’m sure, without any doubt, that this is the best quote in the entire article. I don’t think this needs any explanation. Still, it was only concept art, now they still have to make that real in the film.
I totally agree! To me, the end of VDT is the most important part. I've been hoping that they do it justice. By the sound of what Tirian said, it's currently very promising!

I am really encouraged by this report; I was uber excited when I saw the news headline because I thought we might actually get some footage.
But anyway, I really liked what Tirian had to say; I kind of wish there were more spoilers, but then again I don't.
The whole "themes" issue got me to thinking about all the different themes for the films...obviously LWW was betrayal and redemption, PC was all about "a return to faithfulness and justice after centuries of corruption" etc. and I'm really liking the "theme" for VDT. Obviously, they took it from the scene with Lucy and the Magician's Book and expanded it a little. Which makes me think that perhaps Lucy will fail the "temptation test" of the Magician's book early on in the film, and then have a chance to redeem herself by refusing some other type of temptation. Which would seem to indicate that the Island of the Duffers would come fairly early on in the film, but then, this is all speculation.

Interesting Idea... I'm not sure I would like them to do that, but it's interesting non the less. I guess I don't want them to make an entire new temptation for Lucy. If temptation truly is the theme there after, it would be interesting to see how they make all the characters face temptation. I just hope it does not become too obvious, so that you'll start thinking: "OK, so Eustace and Lucy had their temptation. Now let's see what the temptation is for Caspian and Edmund." That makes the story feel like it is build around numbers. "One more down, two to go!"
^^I completely agree. I hope they handle the theme they've seen in this book well in the movie.
I think that basically as long as they don't go overboard with the whole "temptation" thing, everything will be fine. I like the whole idea of the theme being temptation, though I've never thought of it that way before--to me, VDT was more of a "discovery" kind of story.
Now I'm not quite as worried about changes/etc. anymore, and I'm even more excited about the movie!!
...Though, like a lot of other people, I was sort of expecting a trailer or something when I read the title. Oh well, a trailer can't be too far off!
^^ yeah, I see what you mean!
sure, some of the characters deel with temptation, but when you read the book, temptation doesn't over ride the plot, it just plays a small role in it!

^^it seems they're making it a bigger part of the plot though. I don't mind so long as they don't make it overwhelm the whole movie.
^^ I don't really mind.....they added stuff in PC too and I liked it, so I am not worried, especially after Tirian's awesome report!

^^I did mind most of the stuffed they added to PC. That's why I was pretty worried with this film. But I feel better about it now...
On the other hand, Tirian does describe things that seem like they could be big differences. We know Gael is talking to Lucy in one scene. Tirian also said that Apted's reasons for the changes made sense to him. That doesn't mean that there are therefore no plot changes, it just means that Tirian approves of them. There clearly ARE changes. I'm not trying to be a meanie, but I just think we should all take out our salt packets and munch a few grains .
As a seasoned salt muncher, I agree with you. I didn't really find much encouragement in this report. I also don't want to sound mean, but I don't know what Tirian's views about adaptation are or how he felt about the first two movies. Some people approved of the certain changes in PC and LWW while other people didn't. I prefer things to be extremely close to the book. It is nice to hear that "Goldwater," which I assume means "Deathwater" will be part of the film. I also find it encouraging that the entrance to Aslan's Country was mentioned. I really want more details and think we could have a few more without it spoiling much. I don't think it would hurt for us to know if consolidated means "cut" or "combined" and how that will play out generally of course. Considering how panicky and confused we have been about Gael, I don't think a few details about her would hurt either. At least when he mentions the scenes in the magician's house, he only mentioned Lucy. One of my biggest fears is that Gael would ruin Lucy's scenes in the magician's house.
I did enjoy reading the report and am grateful for whatever information I can get.

I love your play on the words "seasoned" and "salt" .
Also, "Goldwater" is not to be confused with the famous presidential candidate/senator from Arizona in the 1964 U.S. elections .

True, though I think Tirian himself was only shown what he told us was there. I think, when he said he didn't want to spoil it for us, he meant that he didn't want to overly-describe the scenes for us, thus ruining our movie experience with his interpretation/opinion.
I don't think he's holding out on some huge conspiratorial secret, but who knows .

Oh well, a trailer can't be too far off!
Sorry to disappoint you, but personally, I think we won't see the first trailer before July. A trailer is normally released half a year before the release, when it cones to big blockbuster Hollywood films, and Fox normally does it like that.
But that does not mean we cannot get some footage, a behind the scenes look, some interviews with a couple of shots from the movie in it, or a video from the poduction blog like with PC, ...
50est post!!

Well, I was gonna come in here prepared to be all disagreeing, but then when I went to look up examples of Fox's past December releases, I discovered you are right. The absolute earliest trailer I could find for one of their December releases was for Marley & Me and that was at the beginning of June. The rest were July or later.
Now, having said that, and this may still be my own wishful thinking, I still believe that we'll get a trailer for VDT earlier rather than later... no later than June.
50est post!!
Congrats!
Noooo not til June! I want to see a trailer so bad!!!
