I was encouraged by the fact that Tirian said the fans are going to love the movie! I hope I'm one of those fans.

Wow, I feel a big burden has suddenly been lifted off my shoulders!!!!!!! I am so encouraged by this report! I can't wait for VDT's trailer! I'm so glad the film has the same feeling as the first two but is more magical and best of all they focused on the characters!!!!!! I Hope and Pray that VDT truly will be better then we ever could have imagened!

So what do you guys think about his vision for the story? He says the movie is about temptation, and learning how to overcome it. What do you guys think about it? Do you feel that is a legitimate thing to take from the book?
I had never really thought about it before, but I think that sums up many of the lessons learned in the Dawn Treader quite well...actually very well!

Good report. Comforting. Relieving. I was feeling very discouraged about the quality of this movie up until now.
I still wish there was no new character such as "Gael." Her addition frustrates me, despite the comfort this report brings.

The movie sounds awesome! I am much encouraged by this report (though I am jealous)! Hopefully, it will be released on the net soon! Also the tweet seemed to indicate 'scenes' rather than 'trailer' but either way, at least he saw something!
Michael's vision for the movie sounds quite in line to how NarniaWebber's feel. I have seen him and talked with him about the movie (though my report was littered with spoilers so it couldn't be posted). He does seem very passionate about it and was eager to talk about Narnia and how the movie was going. I totally agree (from what I know) with where Michael is taking the movie.
Further up and further in!
Go Marina Erakovic!
I've met Michael Apted!!!

Why can't anyone say what was seen? Was there some sort of agreement at the conference not to talk about the details of the trailer?

I concur ,FriendofNarnia2! You take almost every instance, or should I say Island, in VDT and you will find a struggle with temptation. Eustace gets tempted with the riches on Dragon Island. Edmond and Caspian get tempted with the same thing on Deathwater. Lucy gets tempted while reading the Magicians book. All of these circumstances make for a good story and, what's more, an excellent film!
What is also interesting to me, now that you prompted me to think of it, is that after being tempted so many times they get tested with faith on Ramandu's Island. When they get to Aslan's table all the food looks just great, but they are so used to being tempted that they actually back off from eating it. As you know, the faith of Reepicheep shines through because he was the one who had the faith to try the food first! Cool, eh?
In conclusion, I would like to say that I really hope this movie is a real upset on the international scene. I not only hope that it will preform good at the box-office, but that is will surprise the critics as not being a LOTR/HP knock off. Probably some of you know that one critic has already dismissed VDT as a "LOTR/HP knock off". I know I don't speak for the critics, but just that one review gives me the impression that the critics are like cats ready to pounce. Hopefully they will pounce on air and only have the satisfaction of seeing VDT sailing off to high box-office earnings and on into history!

After the Mojo Box Office report and then the recasting of Reepicheep I was beginning to feel as if this would be the final Narnia film and it wasn't going to do as well but after reading this report I am feeling very good about the film again. I think this will truly bring back the magic of Narnia that LWW brought us.
Whatziznehm,
Loved your whole post. Agree with you about the Temptation theme in VDT. If you care to discuss further, I made a thread called "When Characters Are Wrong." I'd love to hear your extended thoughts.
And I really do hope VDT sails past the competition this year.

Is there anyway we can have more details? Which islands are the five? What scenes did you see bits of?
There are no clouds in the sky. There is only the open sun and the Lord watches.
Recently, I'd still been unsure if I wanted to help promote this movie, since I had no idea if they were going to be true to C. S. Lewis or the book's Christian roots. From this report I now see that they will be true to both. I now have a reason to help hype this movie and to "bring my friends, and my enemies."
Several things in this report make me happy: First, the fact that the scenes were very touching. I want to be moved to tears while watching VDT, like I am when I read the book. It sounds like I will be.
Second, I'm glad that they set up an event specifically for Christian leaders. It looks like Walden has remembered that the primary audience for Narnian films is the Christian community. Hopefully this means that we will again see marketing targeting churches like they did with LWW. Perhaps we will get another inspired by Narnia CD for Dawn Treader?
Third, I'm glad to see that Elizabeth Gabler and Fox have a passion for these stories. I think the Disney folks lost that.
Fourth, Apted again tells us that this is a character driven story, which we doubted for a while. (Who can blame us when we hear stories about battles, dragons, and unfathomable fates?) Tirian seems to be convinced that this is a character story, and that is good enough for me.
Last, I appreciate the fact that they said this movie still feels like Narnia. With so many new people on this project, including a new studio, I was starting to worry that the old Narnia would be gone forever. It sounds like we shan't have to worry about continuity.

I to am glad that they seem to be taking the same marketing approach as LWW, and a new inspired Narnia CD would be awesome! Especially if TobyMac was on it again!

Same here-- hadn't thought about that before, but it certainly seems about right. And "overcoming temptation" doesn't soften out the theme to something less Christian and more 'modern,' like "believe in yourself" (the theme that I think I remember Ben Barnes and some others giving PC).
He's not a tame lion, but he's good.

I don't see how all of you could have missed the theme of temptation in the book!
I think the Latest News link to 'The First VDT Footage' page should be renamed 'Tirian's First Look at VDT' or something along those lines. Otherwise people will be expecting to see actual footage or photos.
