[Closed] Things to be thankful for...

After watching the film I feel about the same as I did after watching the first trailer: initially disappointed, increasingly appreciative for the good bits. In order to start turning the discussion more positively, and as a way to recap the past 2 and a half crazy years, let us list a few of the nightmare rumors that didn't come true in the final film. Things to be thankful for:

1: There was no Lucy/Caspian romance (not even a hint).
2: Caspian did not mistake Lucy for Susan when they first meet in this film.
3: The White Witch is still dead.
4: Gael had a small role.
5: Susan and Peter were never in Narnia in this film.
6: There was no Lady of the Green Kirtle.

More?

7. Reepicheep sails off to Aslan's Country beautifully.
8. Reep and Eustace relationship was nicely done.
9. Jill Pole name drop was a nudge to the readers.
10. Eustace had his diary.
11. "There I have another name"

12. Definitely how Eustace talks of his un-dragonn-ing, and how he said he couldn't do it by himself, but needed Aslan's help. I think whether or not actually how they portrayed his becoming a boy again was done well (personally, I was fine with it), we can at least be glad that they said that it was only through Aslan's power Eustace could be changed.
13. Eustace himself. :) Capital acting and script work there! :)

Edmund_is_King please, this is to be positive about the film, not negative and rude.

14. Lucy's longing to look like Susan was excellent. Great cameos!
15. The crew of the Dawn Treader was mostly human! Only 2 other creatures besides Reepicheep
16. The theme of temptation was brilliantly played throughout the film. I don't think it was huge in the book but I feel like it saved the film from the "green mist" plot

17. Lord Rhoop was done just as I imagined it (or rather his character was how I imagined it)

Um, ok...

Caspian did not have strange dreams about Lilliandil.
Trumpkin and Cornelius were not aboard the Dawn Treader.
There were no underwater battles.
Gumpas did not have possession of the White Witch's stone knife.
There was no soul-sucking cave of doom.

All this is doing for me is taking a trip down the memory lane to the leaked script.

Hey, I liked the soul sucking cave of doom!

23. The White Witch is not the same as the Lady of the Green Kirtle and the White Witch is not the serpant.

24. The Dufflepuds were perfect replicas of their book counterparts.

25. The Ed/Caspian rivalry did not extend from what was written in the book.

26. Laura Brent was good as Lilliandil (just judging from the trailers, I thought she's be horrible, but she actually was exactly how I pictured her).

27. Eustace did not earn his undragoning.

28. Gael didnt fight and become one of those annoying kid's who are always as skilled (if not more skilled) then the adults and she didnt take away from the other characters.

30. Reephicheep and Eustace's friendship was definitely well done.

31. Edmund's line "He was just a kid, I should have protected him" about Eustace.

32. The water nymph returning to try and warn Lucy about the dead sea (when the dark island makes the wind go bye-bye?)

33. Caspian's temptation being somewhat subtle (until the end, but still)

37. Near the end when Aslan said the "...but there I have another NAME..." talk with the children. I'm so glad they kept that in. :)

38) Christian/religious/spiritual teachings- including the civilian identity ;)
39) Lilliandil's big role- including the fact that she has a name :)
40) Overall message that one needs to love and accept oneself as one is, since Aslan does :)

41. That Laura Brent was actually pretty good as Lilliandil. For some reason the trailer made her acting seem horrible, but she actually did great in the role.

42. Eustace had his line about the British Consul!
43. Eustace had his insect obsession like he did in the book!
