If, however, there were to end up being some sort of climactic EPIC!! battle at the end of the movie with the typical sword-clashing, I think I shall most likely be quite disappointed.
Scary thought! I'm afraid that at the end Digory and the Witch are going to have an epic sword fight at one point, and King Frank will raise up an army of Narnians to keep the her away.
But, I think it would be cool to show the war in Carn and Jadis terrizing London, just as long as MN remains more character driven than anything.

Yes, ouch. That's exactly the scenario I don't want to see!
why is action so bad? there's plenty of action in Narnia. there is action in some shape or form in MN anyway.....
There's not a problem with action when it's used intelligently. When it's used because the writers are too lazy or not skilled enough to move the storyline along with anything other than endless generic action scenes, that's a problem.
^ Yeah I agree. If we can see a 20 second flashback of the battle taken place in Charn it'll make me happy.
Long Live King Caspian & Queen Liliandil Forever!
Jill+Tirian! Let there be Jilrian!
Actually, I'd like to see a bit more than 20 secs shown of the battle of Charn (note I said 'bit' ) I'd like to see a shot of the witch standing in front of a huge black mirror and as she starts to describe the battle the camera fades into the mirror (glass wall, window idk - something large anyway) which then shows the events of the war - EDIT with the witch talking o/s of course. Something along the lines of the battle with Sauron at the start of the first Lotr movie would be good I think, although preferably not as long. In this way you can kind of *live* through the witch's actions and see the horror of it more fully - almost as if you were Polly and Digory.
As for the scene in London I think you have to make that pretty action packed in order to get the effect. I'd like to see people diving for cover, chairs and table getting scattered along the street and so forth as Jadis rides through town on the cab Having said that though I don't think it should go on for five minutes and have the army out or something to stop her
I don't know - just a few thoughts anyway. I think that while I'm the first to agree that adding unnecessary action scenes is bad I think that for these two scenes anyway a bit of action would be good.
Do you love "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes?
If so you might like to see my sister's dramatization of this poem through her photography!

I didn't read the thread, but i could imagine them having the destruction of charn happen when Polly and Digory show up there. Especially because it would be Tilda. I think they will completely rewrite the book like they did for VotDT. I don't understand that idea because if they think that MN is such a popular book then they should adapt the book not rewrite it.
There are no clouds in the sky. There is only the open sun and the Lord watches.
The war in Charn should be shown for longer than 20 seconds but I don't like the idea that the sisters should have swords. It doesn't strike me as compelling or true to her character in MN.
Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11
No, Jadis and her sister shouldn't have swords. Their weapons were distinctly verbal, and even in LWW Jadis' weapons of choice were her sceptre-like wand and her stone dagger.
Has anyone seen Pirates of the Caribbean: On stranger shores yet? I read in one reviewthere was a scene that was vaguely reminiscent of Magician's Nephew's wood between the worlds. And when I looked at this movie today, there is indeed such a scene.
There is a good reason why this thread should be taken heed of. A scene of Charn being demolished by Jadis is well and good. But we don't want action scenes in the Wood between the Worlds, a place of peace.
They can add an adventure scene when Digory is going to get that apple from that tree.
Action? That would be tougher.
And combat? Even harder.
I could totally see them adding in a fight scene between Digory and Jadis as he tries to escape the garden.

Then I hope that they cast a slightly older Diggory, because there is something about a ten year old beating a popwerfull witch giant that I feel may come with some cringy creesy unrealisticness (?)
Narnia is childhood...
Seriously, just give the kid the orange. He needs his vitamin C!
