I just heard listened to all 3 versions of this song and I have to say Joe McElderrys is by far my favourite Theres just something pure and innocent about his voice that lends itself to the song................
Then again, I'm british so maybe I'm being subconsciously patriotic! lol
But its just been confirmed another of joes songs will also be used in the movie Which I'm very VERY happy about.
Heres the song-
... re=related
Apparently a different arrangement is being used though
Anyways..................................Hi!!!
Welcome Starlight-Starbright! Enjoy your stay!
Really? Interesting, although I'm still trying to figure out what it's meaning is...Eustace, perhaps? Hmm...
I don't know about this song yet... I really love Carrie's song, but this one now feels way too out of place for VDT. But, then of course, if he's doing in differently for the soundtrack, and it sounds less "poppy," I think I might like it better.
By the way, I love your screen name, Starlight-Starbright! It reminds me of a Christmas song I'm learning! Very cool!

Well I haven't heard it personally, but I've been told by a VERY reliable source that it fits the scene its used in perfectly, and is indeed "less poppy!"
And thank you very much
Starlight-Starbright, welcome to Narnia Web ! May I be so bold as to ask who or what your source is? Because I, for one, am very concerned about that "poppy" feel. That feel just doesn't belong in a Narnia movie.
I saw the movie....and was disappointed
I voted for "I Kinda Like It". I think Carrie Underwood is a marvelous singer. Her voice is real, unlike some of the singers these days who use computers to touch up everything to make themselves sound good. She really does have raw talent, and I think this song relies more on the vocals and instrumentals - which is what I like most about it. The lyrics could be more profound, but actually like the country twang more than I would like a "poppy" feel.
(Although, I'm still secretly hoping that they'll realize the genius that is Scott Krippayne's "Voyage" and use it somehow )
Av and Sig by Aravis Autarkeia
Amen to using Scott Kripayne's song! I don't like his voice a lot, but the song is just SO wonderful.
The lyrics to "There's a Place for Us" seem rather cheesy to me. I'll have to listen to the actual music to make my final judgment.
"Let the music cast its spell,
give the atmosphere a chance.
Simply follow where I lead;
let me teach you how to dance."
She's a decent singer but the tune is bland and the lyrics are beyond generic. They're not cheesy, they just don't show any artistry.
Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11
I agree with Warrior. They're not really that cheesy. They're just sooo generic. You could almost stick the song in front of any film.
Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

Where was this confirmed? As far as I'm aware, this is one of the songs from Joe's CD, released in October - nothing to do with VDT.

No problem Joe was at an event yesterday and a fan asked him. She passed this on to me over twitter and I emailed a friend of mine who went to a screening of the movie in the US and she confirmed that its true, but that if you weren't listening for it you probably wouldn't know it was that song as the arrangement has been changed and it is not "poppy"
Its actually his next single too Its released on the same day as the VDTsoundtrack (which is why he was asked about it)
Hello, I'm new here.
Anyway, I'm from Britain, and I have heard all three versions of the song (The swedish band's, Joe McElderry's live version and the short snippet of Carrie's version) and I like both Joe's and Carrie's.
I've heard about Joe's song being on the film aswell (I'm on Joe's official website) and someone on there who saw the screening said it was with a different arrangement.
I'm afraid my opinion still stands after hearing the Carrie Underwood version (I hate it). While I'm not knocking Carrie Underwood or people who are fans of her and I appreciate that she's a very popular and successful and talented country music singer I just can't see this sort of song fitting in with the ending of the film. I agree 100% with those people who say the words are terribly cheesy.
Interesting info about the song possibly being less "poppy" in the film version with Joe McElderry. I hope this is the case.
Btw welcome to pinkpeach112 and Starlight-Starbright!!!! Love your usernames and I hope you have a great time around here!!!!!

Personally, I like it. Not the ideal, but a pretty good song and wonderful vocals

He still believes in you.

Listened to the full version and I like it! It doesn't sound country to me. And yah, the lyrics are a little sweet, but in my experience most 'happy' songs are and it's not more saccharine than some.
Still think 'Voyage' would be a better credit song, but I really don't have anything to complain about with this one. I think it's a a good thing we had the boy band version first, because Carrie sounds a *lot* better in comparison.
