I'm sure most of you have heard about Carrie Underwood writing a song for Voyage of the Dawn Treader by now. There is a video of it being performed on YouTube:
So if you've had a chance to listen to the song what're your thoughts?
I voted "Ummmm, it's nice. I guess. Maybe. Kinda." because the lyrics are kinda lame, IMO. I mean,
"We can be the kings and queens of anything if we believe.
It's written in the stars that shine above,"
eh? that bit sounds cheesy, IMO.....
the songs not too bad though. there are some lyrics that are good:
"a world where you and I belong, where faith and love will keep us strong,
exactly who we are is just enough
yes there's a place for us, there's a place for us."
and
"where your heart is free and hope comes back to life,
where these broken hands are whole again,
we will find what we've been waiting for,
we were made for so much more"
are pretty good lines.....
I want to hear Carrie Underwood sing it. maybe she will make it sound amazing!

I wasn't sure what to put. I put meh: I don't HATE it, but I don't really like it. If I heard this on the radio, I would change the station if there was a better song on.
(Well except for the fact that this song is associated with Narnia so I would listen to it if I heard it on the radio. But if it wasn't, I would change the station.)

I voted 'I kinda like it'. I think it's a good sign that the lyrics have spiritual connotationsa and the music itself is not half bad either. Besides, this is the the song that rolls after 'THE END' is announced, so to speak, so it doesn't really bother me that much.
Also, if you'll excuse my going slightly off-topic, here is one quote from Carrie Underwood herself which I found extremely interesting:
[There's A Place For Us] says that for everybody, there’s a place where you’re powerful and where you belong. The movie and song are about finding that place where you fit in.
If this is true, then that means that they've got one of VDT's most important themes, which is of course fantastic! =D

He still believes in you.

Um, I don't know, I couldn't catch most of the lyrics, but I'm sure that if Carrie sings it I'll understand it, since I mostly listen to country...
I voted that I want to hear the other versions.
"The mountains are calling and I must go, and I will work on while I can, studying incessantly." -John Muir
"Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed." -Richard Adams, Watership Down
I voted I liked it, but only because I'm 99.9 percent certain that Carrie (or this other guy they're talking about) will sing it better than the slightly off-key boy band.

I love it! That might change when I hear more of the lyrics, but at the moment, I love this song's meaning, and I think with Carrie or someone else singing it will be great!
I think with Carrie's voice and slightly different instruments, the song will be perfect.
Winter Is Coming
I voted "Other". I haven't heard it, nor will I hear it until the movies is released.
After listening to it for awhile, it has started to grow on me...a little. I think I would prefer to hear Carrie Underwood preform it, as I didn't really like the singers' voices in the youtube video

...meh. It sounds a little cheesy right now, but I imagine it'll sound much better with Carrie Underwood singing it, and some better instrumentals.
For me, I am driven by two main philosophies: know more today about the world than I knew yesterday, and along the way, lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you. - Neil deGrasse Tyson
This is not my type of music at all so maybe I am biased but I just can't see this working for a Narnia film. Its far to cheesy and I really can't see it working with the ending of the film, especially if they are trying to bring across a religious, peaceful atmosphere. I hope Carrie Underwood's version is much better than the one on youtube but even then I don't think I'm going to like it much. Personally, I thought the "The Call" was pretty corny at the end of Prince Caspian, and it sounds as though this is going down the same route
Do you love "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes?
If so you might like to see my sister's dramatization of this poem through her photography!

Um.. that was bad.
Like someone else said, I'm pretty sure Carrie and Joe will sing this better than those guys just did. I must desperately hope so.
As a song.. I guess it's okay, I'm not too keen on the melody or anything. Who knows, it could end up amazing in the film though. (I doubt it. )

Meh. Kinda pointless lyrics. Cheesy, as some have said. Hopefully/possibly the final/official version will be different in small but meaningful ways. And there may be two or more versions of the song. After all, This is Home is different on the soundtrack from what you actually hear with the credits.
"In the end, there is something to which we say: 'This I must do.'"

Meh. Not impressed and don't quite like the lyrics. Though, I would like to hear Carrie Underwood sing it.
