I thought it was funny and awesome that they kept the torch/flashlight. :)
By the way, in the book Caspian did keep Lucy's items (if not all) from what I remember...

Yeah I could understand the cordial being on the ship as its mentioned in the book, but the rest of the items maybe not as he was at sea and wouldn't he want to keep all of those things safe somewhere? The book says Caspian considered the cordial one of the royal treasures...
So the VDT is some sort of floating royal treasure museum and Caspian thinks all of those items are safer on a voyage with him where he might encounter sea serpents than at home! LOL ;)

I thought it was funny, but a bit awkward. I mean, he just gave Lucy her cordial and dagger and they saw Susan and Peter's Christmas gifts. And of course, Edmund hadn't any Christmas gifts, so it was like Caspian was trying to smooth that over with giving Edmund his torch. Which was weird, because it was like he was acting like it was Edmund's Christmas gift.

I don't know. Not great. Maybe it was meant to be a bit awkward?

I thought it was pretty funny and didn't mind it all that much, but I was a bit bothered by the fact that the battery still worked and how bright the beam was on the dark island. That thing had to be over 50,000 candle watts!

I think it was neat how the torch was in the film, as Edmund did not recieve a gift from Father Christmas, and therefor, did not have a gift that was taken aboard the Dawn Treader like his siblings' were.

Torches survive a lot longer in Narnia than in the real world. :D

I love it, thought it was funny and nostalgic. I just wish Caspian would say something funny about it, him not understanding electricity and all that. That would add more comic moments from the book.

I thought it was cute and funny, I didn't mind it in the slightest, and in fact I rather liked it :) I always wondered what happened to the torch :) now I wonder what happened to it after Edmund left, he didn't take it with him, I'm guessing he dropped it in the water or something :p

I loved how Caspian brought something of Edmund's to represent him, even though he didn't have a Christmas gift. That's what overjoyed me the most about having the torch there- the fact that something of Edmund's was there to stand alongside the others. Edmund himself might have appreciated his sword a bit more, considering what they ended up getting themselves into, but it was a nice callout to the fans :p

I was happy to see the torch back!
ok weird thing is this: ages ago, when I saw PC for the first time, I noticed that the last time you see Edmund's torch is during the Night Raid when he uses it to jam the dorr shut to keep the soldiers from getting to him. and Caspian inherits the castle when he becomes king. so I thought way back then it would be funny if Caspian brought the torch on the ship in VotDT!
and when I saw this picture:

I was like "NO WAY!"

I was mostly kinda surprised it was still working, since I figured the Narnian's wouldn't have been able to stop switching it on and off. ;))

I think the inclusion of the torch is just one of those parts of a plot that you don't think too hard about because it will make your head explode if you do. Too bad that was the case with 3/4 of the plot.

The torch will always hold a special place in my heart! I thought it was a nice way of bonding Edmund and Caspian when Caspian presented it to him, since Ed never received or even got to meet Father Christmas and neither has Caspian.

I do wonder about those batteries though. Deeper Magic much B-)?
