I am very intrested about how they will make puddlegum look. He is a weird looking thing.
I also have no other problem w/ Johnny Depp except that he doesn't not look like how I pictured Puddleglum.

I think Silver Chair could be the turning point for the series. Honestly, I think general audiences are tired of seeing the Pevensies. I think with the new cast (besides Will Poulter as Eustace, who everyone loves, and the unrecognizable Ben Barnes, as well as small parts like Drinian and Lilliandil), people may be able to embrace the series once again.
With that being said, the one thing I am worried about are the underground scenes. I have a fear that the underground world will too closely resemble the cave from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The sad thing is, that is the way I always imagined it, and I think the filmmakers will want to make their cave look different, so that's out of the question...

Nah, I don't think Underland is in any danger of being compared to that, if done right. Especially since a larger part of the story happens in Underland, whereas in HP it is just a chapter's worth. Underland has a lot more space to establish itself as different.

The key for me in looking at LOTGK is that she has to be very, very beautiful. Now beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Still she has to appeal to at least 90% of the people watching. I am very much against Helen McCrory playing this part. She is not nearly beautiful enough. I Google imaged her and she has more of a girl next door look. She, in my personal opinion, is the least pretty of any actress mentioned. I'm still a supporter of Natalie Portman for this role. I like Emily Blunt to. Also I never imagined puddleglum as being super old. So for me Bruce Spence doesn't cut it. Johnny Depp, or Rupert Everett would work. I just think that if we are to see the books other then the Magicians Nephew we need for this one to really do well. That's why we need the buzz that big name actors can provide.

Bruce Spence isn't actually old, he just plays an old man in a movie .
Beauty is indeed in the eyes of the beholder. Emilie Blunt is only so-so for me, while Helen McCrory has a mystique about her. True, in most of the google pictures she is in disarray mode, but in HP 6 she was quite beautiful as Narcissa Malfoy.

Well, according to imdb he is 65. Now while that isn't super old, it is allot older then I have always imagined Puddleglum. I always thought of him looking to be in his 30s or 40s at the oldest.
I disagree... I always pictured Puddleglum as being in his late 50s-early 60s... which is exactly where Bruce Spence is!

Well I guess it's all a matter of opinion. Every person has there own imagination. I can't find a reference to Puddleglum's age in the book. However, I still think it's unwise to use an actor who has already been in the series. It would make the silver chair look cheap. Like they couldn't afford another actor. AKA BBC series. Even if he was not recognizable, critics would notice. He played enough of a part in VDT that he shouldn't be in this one!!
Dream Cast:
LOTGK: Natalie Portman or Cate Blanchett.
Puddleglum: Bruce Spense or Rupert Everett. Thought I don't really care as long as it's NOT Johnny Depp.
Jill: preferably somebody un-known.
Rilian: Orlando Bloom. *preparing for shower of tomatoes *
Director: Adamson or Peter Jackson.
Run Time: at least 2hrs! preferably 2 hr. 15min. or even 2hr. 20min.
Release Date: Summer 2012. (can't be christmas because of Hobbit)
Budget: 200million.
NO 3D! Please, no 3D. Put that money to good use!
Rating: whatever it takes to make the story right.
Scenes they are NOT allowed to cut under any circumstances: Caspian being ressurrected, and the dance of the Narnians when Jill comes out of the tunnel. They have yet to do any of the "dance scenes" in any of the movies and I'm just dying to see one.
Johnny Depp cannot play Puddleglum. He is a comedian. Puddleglum, although a funny character, is much much more. He is humerous and serious. He is a pessimist and an optimist. He is a whiner and an uncomplaining hero. Contradictory? NO. This is Puddleglum. Depp cannot pull off such an amazing, wonderful (and deep) character.
Burton must not direct this. He is a dark, creepy, director. His films that I have seen seem evil, dark, and creepy. Not at all what Jack had in mind.
So who should direct? Andrew Adamson maybe. I don't know. Someone who loves and respects Lewis.
I honestly can't picture Johnny Depp ever playing Puddleglum. He's just lacking Puddleglum's unfogettable qualities and mannerisms, and, I can't see him being able to play the part too convincingly. But just my opinion

How to make a film succeed in Australia:
Have Nicole Kidman as the Lady of the Green Kirtle. She'd be just perfect! Excellent manners and all. (evil grin). Guaranteed publicity as well.
I think that the best two actors to play Puddleglum are either Alan Rickman or Bruce Spence, if his bit part as Lord Rhoop isn't held against him.
I really hope Johnny Depp does not play Puddleglum. I don't think I could even watch...
I mean, I love Johnny Depp. But he. is. not. Pudd. le. glum.
I would love to see Cate Blanchett play the LOTGK however!
Jill should be an unknown, or else someone who's played only small parts in other movies. Or big parts in lesser-known movies. If she's someone we know too well, we won't think of her as our Jill.
As for director, *loudest sigh ever* I wish Peter Jackson would do it!!!!! But I'm afraid he is much too busy with his Hobbit films ( ) to do Narnia too. And I'm not sure he would accept the job anyway. But yeah... he would certainly make a success out of it if he did do it.
I really wouldn't mind Andrew Adamson coming back. As much as I hated PC as an adaption, it was a very good stand-alone movie. And LWW was excellent. In both movies, he really captured the love Lucy has for Aslan, and Aslan's Christ-like-ness, like I think no one else can.
For arguments sake, what kind of Narnia director would Tim Burton make?

I hope so much to see SC get made! I love the changes thus far, so if there are changes in SC I would not mind!
*ducks to avoid rotten tomatoes*
Its good to hear that everyone wasn't booing in the theaters. I also am much more open to the changes.
I am happy with 90% of the changes in LWW, I am happy with 100% changes made in PC and 80% if the changes in VDT).
I think that there is less of a need for change in the SC and there is less to butcher so I am more confident going into the SC than I was with VDT.
I am excited for the underground city and how they will design it and the castle. I also really am excited for how they design the gnomes.
I saw VDT for the 5th time today and I took a group of seven.
