I just saw VDT today. And one part that really stood out to me in a negative way was the scene where they send the prisoners/slaves in the boats, and the green mist appears for the first time and swallows them up.
For me, it just seemed like a really cheesy 90s-special effects sequence. I was literally trying not to laugh in the theater, and I could see a few people shifting around in their seats...
What was it like for you guys? Anyone agree/disagree?

Nobody seems to have complained any of the times I watched the movie.
Personally, I have no issues with it either.
The green mist looked awful in most of the scenes, especially that scene but I wasn't a fan of the green mist idea to begin with (still, they could've improved the quality of the CGI).
Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11
I didn't like that seen much- the mist just looked REALLY cheesy (And I'd still like to know WHY the people were being sacrificed at all.)
True. It was never really explained. . .

I thought the mist was okay except for the end when the people come back from out of the mist. Ultra-cheese. *thumbs down*

I have to agree, I dont understand why they were sacrificing people, that could've been explained better
Ya, the mist looked so cheeesy and fake and I'm sure there are ways they couldve made it alot better

I wanted to cover my head with a paper bag during that scene. It REALLY did make me squirm. I didn't even feel that way during the Magician's Island dialogue, so you can see that I don't easily react like that to a movie .
But I have to tell you, that Green Mist was really bothering me. It looked cheap and fake and chessy. Awful.
It also made me embarrassed to be sitting in that theatre when it wrestled with Eustace at the end.

I've said enough about how I think of the plot itself in other places, but the green mist itself did look pretty pathetic and cheesy. The scene really showed off the mist at it's worst appearance on screen, and a few other moments as well. Sometimes, it did look pretty cool, but other times I thought it could've looked way better. Come on, guys, if you have to put in a crazy plot like that, will you at least make the CGI for it believable?
I love that scene!

I did not really like that scene either..thought it was poorly done! Could have been better in my opinion!
"We have nothing if not belief"
I really hate that scene, the special effects are really bad and the entire feel of the scene made me feel as if I was watching the BBC adaptions
The special effects were TERRIBLE. I wouldn't hate that scene so much if they developed the whole idea of the green mist better. I walked out of the theater with a thousand questions about the abominable green mist.
I agree, Ithilwen! I'm not a fan of the special effects either.
The most awkward scene though, for me, is not when the green mists appear. It is when the dragon gets stabbed and some bolts of green lightning just come out from its body. I was in the theater and thought "Oh no. The film is ruined!".
Looks like the lowered budget really is a great constraint in making a fantasy film
*HE* has everything sorted.
