I'm starting this thread to discuss updates on the Official Website now that there is one again.
I must say, I don't miss the large amounts of flash that made page loading times take forever.
I'm so happy that it's back up, but like i said in the comments section for the News Story, I'm not too thrilled about the sparkles, I don't want another Prince Caspian-esque DVD cover for VODT...
I absolutely love it, sparkles and everything! As I also said in the comments, it just seems so much more magical, which is so much more in the personality of VDT. The sparkling actually reminds me of Coriakin or Ramandu, because it reminds me of a star! I don't think it's going to be childish or anything though, it just seems magical. (like LWW! )
I appreciate the page not taking soooo much time to load like the old one; of course, that could yet change. My 1.5 GHz G4 could not run the old site at all.
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
I heartily echo those who say they are quite glad that the longer loading times are gone, very nice indeed! I actually like the sparkles- just because there's sparkles on the site doesn't mean we'll get another PC-like cover, of course, and it makes me think of an adventure fantasy story (moreso than a darker action fantasy such as what I think PC is), which is what VDT is after all.
Dear days of old, with the faces in the firelight,
Kind folks of old, you come again no more.
(Robert Louis Stevenson)
I had dialup so couldn't really access the site. Now I've got ADSL but the laptop is five years old so it's slow.
But not having to wait ages is definitely an improvement!
I look forward to seeing something else in it.
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
I'm not too thrilled about the sparkles, I don't want another Prince Caspian-esque DVD cover for VODT...
I don't think there's is any reason to be worried about a PC-esque DVD cover for VDT at this point. Just because there are a few sparkles on the website does not mean they'll be any on the DVD cover.
I quite like the website. It's very simple and it doesn't look like they're trying to hard, which I like. Of course, I definitely hope we get a bit more later on, but for now it's nice.

The sparkles are very simple yet very entertaining. How clever. Much more enchanting than the sensory overload that the old Disney site had. There was way too much to look at and click on all over the screen. I hope than once Fox's site is fully up and running it won't be too complicated and cluttered.
I'm so happy that it's back up, but like i said in the comments section for the News Story, I'm not too thrilled about the sparkles, I don't want another Prince Caspian-esque DVD cover for VODT...
I heartily agree that the Prince Caspian DVD cover was tacky. They went overly fantasy on the cover when they knew that the movie was "darker." Terrible inconsistency. Plus it just looked bad. But I disagree that the sparkly website for VDT bodes ill for the new movie. The titles have always been magical as they've assembled themselves onto the logos. Rewatch the trailers.
Movie Aristotle, AKA Risto
I like the simplicity of the new site, though that might change once we get closer to the movie release date. I personally like the sparkles, especially since (this sounds rather childish, but oh well) it's the only thing to play with on the site currently.
I didn't notice anything wrong with the DVD cover for PC.
The site for PC was a bit of overload and took too long to load.
I like the little things that follow the mouse around. It is very entertaining. It really doesn't take much to get me interested.
I thought it was puffs of smoke following the cursor around. I figured that was because of the dragon in the movie.

I didn't notice anything wrong with the DVD cover for PC.
I agree, what was wrong with PC? Granted I liked the LWW one better, but that's just cause of the coloring.
Anyway I'm so glad the Website is up. I was just thinking about it too, and then I read the news article... talk about timing. I like the sparkles too
"The mountains are calling and I must go, and I will work on while I can, studying incessantly." -John Muir
"Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed." -Richard Adams, Watership Down
I don't think there's is any reason to be worried about a PC-esque DVD cover for VDT at this point. Just because there are a few sparkles on the website does not mean they'll be any on the DVD cover.
That's probably true, I'm just paranoid I guess
I didn't like the PC cover b/c it didn't match the movie and made it look way too kid-ish I guess for the actual content of the movie...
The loading time was a bit long and I do love the sparkles...so cool! Cant wait for it to be really up and running!
"We have nothing if not belief"
It loaded well on my computer which is 6 years old so that's impressive!
I don't mind the sparkles- they're not as intrusive as some mouse accessories.
Has anyone noticed the gleam that begins on the bottom of the R and continues on to the I's dot?
I like the aged look, but if this decay continues exponentially we may not have a logo at all by the time LB rolls around!
Quod Erat Demonstrandum
I like the new website. I don't think there is much to comment on it yet, since it has little content, but I do like it.
I don't think I remember the PC website. But I can imagine how full it would be.
Also, if I may add, there was nothing wrong with the PC cover IMO. Even if I did think that there was something wrong with it, I shouldn't get upset about it - it IS just a cover, after all. Definitely no big deal.
