I'm surprised no one has started a topic on David Arnold's musical score for this movie. I personally love it. I intentionally kept away from the score until I saw the movie and I think it is a fantastic depiction of the magical and fantasy elements of the story. It does go back to LWW style and gives you a really good feel for the adventure and discovery. Among my favorite tracks are entering Narnia from the painting, introducing Dragon Eustace, clearing out the slave traders, and the Sea Serpent Battle.

I liked it, but I liked the music in LWW and PC better. The music was a little too "jingly" for me (is that even a word? lol.)
Well not all the songs on the soundtrack sound that way, but for much of the movie, I felt it was.
I liked the "High King and Queen of Narnia"best, probably because it is so similar to LWW. Although, I don't like that title too much.

I liked the score, but not as much as the two Harry Gregson-Williams composed. I'm not sure what it was, but the previous two had more...body to them, if I'm explaining that right. Dawn Treaders was wonderful in it's own right, but for me I don't think anyone can beat the original composer of the films.

The more I listen to Arnold's work, the more I like it.
That said, I don't think I'll ever like it as much as I liked the previous two. There is a notable lack of continuity which I dreaded, and my fears were confirmed. Whether it was a copyright issue or whatever, I was still saddened not to hear Reepicheep's theme from PC, or Lucy's theme.
Also, I felt like overall, the tracks did not tie together very well; with HGW, you could listen to one track and know that it was on the same soundtrack because they flowed together, meshed very well. Not so much with Arnold.
I love the music! it's amazing!

Not as much of the VDT score stood out to me as the PC and LWW scores, but I liked it all the same. I especially liked the times that Arnold used the same Narnia theme... oh I also liked the music during Caspian and Edmund's duel.
The score felt short for me. None of the tracks were as inmersive or unique as opossed to LWW or PC. I rarely even noticed the music. It blended well with the background and it wasn't out of place which is good, but doesn't stand out on its own. Sure, some tracks are good to listen and some have a nice touch of mystique, but the films score doesn't have as much of personality as LWW and PC had. Those had each a unique sense to them that allow you to identify and relate each soundtrack to each movie. I'll probably check the soundtrack later though, because it wasn't bad either.

I thought that the music was nice, though I did agree that it didn't have the depth of the first two. I did like the jingly part, unlike some others.

I'm okay with it. I like it, even if it isn't as good as the music from LWW. I bought the soundtrack, so I listen to it regularly. And it's nice, although some of the music does seem a little flat. I really like Dragon Attack (I'm listening to it now), Lucy and the Invisible Mansion, Duel, Into Battle, and others. Funny thing is, on iTunes, for "High King and Queen of Narnia", which almost everyone says they like, it says the composer is Harry Gregson-Williams! If it's not a mistake, then that's probably why everybody likes it so much....

I'm annoyed with i-Tunes for only allowing Into Battle being buyable with the whole album. I too am listening to Dragon Attack now.
I do agree that there is no real unified theme in the Narnia except the few excerpts from LWW/PC and the "Opening Credits Themes". But at the same time, the island to island adventures each deserve their own themes so for the story, it makes sense. Is the score perfect? Could be better overall, but I like it. I think I may buy the whole album because there may be other tracks that I like more than I recall.

David Arnold did great with the music! I still like Harry's score, but David's was something new and really added something different and unique to the movie. I don't know if he'll come back for SC, but I'll be happy is he does!
I thought it was dull and forgettable. It didnt move me or stick with me like the music in LWW and PC.
Winter Is Coming
I think David Arnold added some new textures and different instruments in the soundtrack that possibly HGW wouldn't have used. Arnold also did the scoring for the recent Sherlock BBC TV production (which I loved).
I actually preferred Arnold's VDT score over the Prince Caspian soundtrack. For the Dragon Treasure track I like the fairytail-ish sound--it fit with the sparkle of the treasure in that particular scene. I like the opening tracks and Reepicheep's theme and the Duel (folksy jig feel) theme and the last three tracks were especially moving. For me the soundtrack sometimes resonates more if the script is good. For VDT it was the opposite as Arnold's soundtrack gave the poor script/and movie some much needed lift, so I appreciated that it was trying to make up for what the story lacked (in a way)....which was depth and emotion.
Sweetwater I love a lot.

The music was ok. Maybe not as good as the two precious films but worked fine for the movie. Only sad thing is that the music while Eustace dragon is dragging the ship is missing on the soundtrack CD.
I listen to the soundtrack sometimes. Gotta love the "ship to the shore" track. Its a bit on the sad and uplifting side.
The more I listen to the music the more I love it. It is a great score but it isn't as unique as HGW's work for the first two films. Those tracks were all so unique and different, and more lengthy and the tracks for VDT are short and not as original. But I love it anyways and still listen to it nearly everyday. The music is uplifting, cheerful and has a little magic.
