The problem is that the "hero" of the piece is attacking a girl. Although, I agree it would be less of an issue, or even a non-issue, if they toned it down. Perhaps, have him hold her in place without actually hurting her.
When reading the book Polly seemed to me a spunky little feminist herself. She really stands up for her rights and fights back at Digory. I was surprised at how she and Digory talked to each before that skirmish. They could definitely tone it down some so that they keep that tug of war struggle between them before Digory rings the bell.

My question about MN story wise is how they will add the back-story Charn into the flow of the story. Will they add it at the beginning? I don't think so, as this would ruin all the suspense of Digory and Polly going into Charn. Will they have Jadis tell the children it as a story? If Walden can figure some way to do this without it being cheesy, then that would be fine. Flashbacks could also work, but I'm not sure how and when they'd work flashbacks into the story line.
But I think we do need to see how Charn was destroyed, and it gives Walden a chance to show an epic battle, really the only opportunity in the book to do that.
I don't want to think of how Walden will Hollywood-ize MN, though, after what they did to VotDT. I can see them adding a chase seen between Jadis and Strawberry, Digory, and Polly, when they see Jadis on their way to the garden. They'll probably use Jadis's "blasting" power on more than one occasion where it wasn't in the book.
I think the singing at the creation is fine as singing as long as they don't make it overtly cheesy. The way I always saw it was Aslan begins singing, and some kind of light, like an electric current, shoots out underneath him in all directions, to make somewhat of a circle, and fades away as things, like the stars, come into existence. The light would continue to radiate from Aslan, and the color of the light would change for every object, like green light for grass, and so on. If Liam Neeson can't sing, I'd be happy with someone replacing him just for the singing.
This was my first post for a while, which is probably why it was so long. The lack of news is driving me crazy.
