Besides, viewers bought in by Peter and Susan's apparent appearance in Narnia are likely to be disappointed, not watch it again and deter others from doing so. Though they will, I'm sure, be in it the people I refer to would have been led to believe they had a larger role.
I'm surprised Paul thought it was flawless - he must have a very positive personality. I don't think it's flawless but I love it all the same even for it's differences. Interesting he said it was a moving scene, I'll have to think over that. I also think it's likely they appear once as in the trailer and also back in England as implyed by their clothes in the poster.

I never knew Paul Martin said PC was flawless, that's about 98% incorrect in my perspective. But everything else before the trailer was very positive. I might be going to VDT's comic con so I'll try and find out something.

^ PC is far from flawless. But it's a very underrated adaptation. They took an incredibly uncinematic book, took it apart, and put it back together into a coherent movie without totally losing the essential themes. I'm working on an hour-long video analysis explaining why most of the changes were necessary, and how others really enhance the themes in the book. The challenges they faced when adapting PC were very complex.
Paul is a very passionate Narnia fan. But yeah, we disagree on a lot of things. I think he's just excited about seeing Narnia movies at all.
Caspian and Susan kissed. Aslan was a mess. Some bad dialogue in some key scenes. The duel was terrible. The end felt unresolved. I just can't agree that it is a good adaption.
It is very hard for me to pick apart the film and say the parts i like about PC because the romance completely changed Susan's character and infects multiple scenes. Even the scene where Aslan is speaking to Susan and Peter for the last time. Even that scene is infected by the romance.
PS. I know we have had this conversation before GP and it has been easier. I watched PC last week after having not watched it in quite a long time and it was easier to watch the nonsense then it was at first. I still don't think it is a good adaption or even a good film. That is why i don't think it made a lot of money. It wasn't good enough.
There are no clouds in the sky. There is only the open sun and the Lord watches.
I'm not necessarily saying it's a good adaptation, but because of the extremely difficult source material, I don't think it could be significantly better. They got the essential themes down pretty well: The sadness of the old days being gone and the hope that they might return.
With VDT, so far, I'm feeling like they just don't get it at all. It's about the longing for one's true home and ultimately the joy of finding it. It's not about saving Narnia from some unfathomable fate.
Um, we are REALLY off-topic here guys. If we could get back on-topic, that would be awesome!
I do agree that VotDT is about the longing for one's true home and the undragoning scene is very important. I don't know if they get it or not either.

^^ but Lucy and Edmund are wearing the clothes they are wearing on baord the Dawn Treader! so.....it must be something else, right?

^ Ditto to Libby. I can only still think about the library in the Magician's House where Lucy is reading the spells. Susan looked like she was mad. Probably something with the beauty spell and Lucy sees herself getting the popularity or something similar. That, or just misleading marketing that wont be in the film.
BTW, lucy is the only one smiling in the Pevensie walk. Another coincidence pehaps?

wait! this may be totally far fetched, but maybe that scene does have something to do with The Magician's book. I'll explain my theory:
remember how in the book it says that Lucy is seeing in the book what would happen if she said the beauty spell? remember how it said that after she saw herself being faught over by the kings of all the world for her beauty - and then she is back in England and is beautiful beyond the lot of mortals and Susan looks plain.....
could this be part of that?

^ That's my theory on it too! It has to do something with the beauty spell.
