[Closed] The Least of Our Worries: Small Changes /Annoyances

As far as I can tell there isn't a thread like this. If there is (or if this thread is too negative), I apologize.

As I watched the movie, there were several small things that momentarily bothered me or made me think "that is different from the book". These things didn't ruin the movie for me and in comparison to other things are hardly worth the mention - but what can I say? I over analyze. I am a NarniaWebber after all. :p I don't want to sound like I'm complaining or being super picky. Mostly, I'm just listing these for the sake of listing them (getting it out of my system). I'm also curious to see what others think. I also thought it would be nice to have a place to discuss small changes that really wouldn't warrant a thread of their own.

Do you have any little things that you noticed that weren't quite right but not major?

Here's my list:
1. Susan's horn was on the ship. It should have been with Trumpkin.
2. Eustace writes in his diary from the beginning. In the book, he only starts it on the ship.
3. The lamppost (I think that was what it was) that was on the desk when Susan was writing. It distracted me because I couldn't help wondering where in the world she got it and how she afforded it and it seemed too much like the filmmakers were trying to remind us of other films.
4. The picture of the Pevensies at the train station - I was wondering who took the picture and how they got it.
5. That no one woke up when the Dufflepuds were hopping around on the beach. (I actually got the idea for this thread from a comment someone made about that being the "least of our worries" ;)) )

@ Pattertwig's Pal. Interesting thread. Some of those things irritated me. Some I hadn't noticed such as the horn. It would have bothered me if I'd seen it.

I missed seeing Caspian overthrow Governor Gumpas. It was one of my favorite parts in the book and makes for good physical comedy in the BBC version.

I didn't like for the fact Caspian told Lucy he hadn't found a queen because no one could compare to her sister. But i'm kind of a little over it now because i thought to myself that he was probably looking for someone who had leadership or it is rather in character for him since in the book he sounded shallow when talking about the duke of Galma's daughter. Although he saw lilliandil and there's a reason he fell attracted to her so it doesn't bother me just was annoyed there for a while. :)

Something that really bothered me was the fact that we never find out that Coriakin is really a star...he's only referred to as "the Magician"...

"Susan's horn was on the ship. It should have been with Trumpkin."

I saw the movie on Monday again, and I thought Lucy said, "Susan's bow and arrows..." Was the horn really there?

Yes it was. I have a picture of Lucy saved to my computer with it in the background. I'm pretty sure it isn't mentioned in the movie, but it is displayed under a golden lion head.

I JUST ran across that image...I stand corrected. :) I'll look for it when I see the movie again.

This.

5. That no one woke up when the Dufflepuds were hopping around on the beach.

And this! It also bothered me that they didn't say that only a girl could break the spell. They point out that both Lucy and Gael are female, but they don't say why they need a female.

Another thing that bugged me was the fire in Lucy's cabin, during a storm no less! Fire at sea was one of things sailors most feared.

Yes! That annoyed me a lot.

What was equally annoying was the fact that Caspian and Drinian would allow everyone to just go to sleep on the beach of a completely unknown Island, without even posting a guard! Very irresponsible behavior from a King who has led guerrilla battles and an experienced sea captain. I'm not sure I'll ever get over it...

Annnnnd: Lucy never gets to use her cordial! :-o

can I have a link to that picture....?

Sure! Here it is. :)

Yeah. Just having them say, "Let's [kidnap] this one! She's female!" sounded really...er...strange.

One little thing that bothered me is that although Lucy and Edmund have been at Eustace's house for a ful 265 days, they somehow are only discussing the painting for the first time.
