[Closed] The garden in VDT...and MN?

I was re-reading VDT yesterday when I came across something I had never noticed before. When Eustace has been "de-dragonized" and he is telling Edmund how it came about, he says that "So at last we came to the top of a mountain I had never seen before and on the top of this mountain there was a garden-trees and fruit and everything. In the middle of it there was a well." It just dawned on me that this is the very garden Digory plucks the apple from in MN and where the "Great Reunion" is in LB. I wonder of we'll have the same golden gates w/ the rhyme on them or if the peacock will be sitting in the tree above the well. Do you think they will really have this garden be the same one as in MN?

^I don't know if the director and producers will have noticed that. I never realized that until you pointed it out. I would love it if they had it like that though :) .

That's interesting.

I'd always assumed the pool was somewhere on Dragon Island, not in the Western Wilds.

Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

wow! I never noticed that! I always knew that the location in VotDT was in Aslan's Country! so that means the location in MN is in Aslan's Country as well! cool! great find!

Hmm..........I don't think they're the same garden. They sound similar, but I found these quotes: Everything was very quiet inside. Even the fountain which rose near the middle of the garden made only the faintest sound. MN An Unexpected Meeting (emphasis added)
"In the middle of it there was a well. I knew it was a well because you could see the water bubbling up from the bottom of it: but it was a lot bigger than most wells--like a very big, round bath with marble steps going down into it." VDT How the Adventure Ended

Based on those quotes, I don't think the gardens are the same. The fountain and the well sound completely different. I think the garden in VDT could very well be in Aslan's country, but the garden in MN is not.

It seems so wierd though. In MN Polly and Digory fly over mountains to get to Aslan's Country. In VotDT they sail to the end of the world. Idk. It's kinda cool all the same. It's probably somewhere you can get to from anywhere, spritually or something.

^^ Aslan obviously teleported Eustace to the garden, if you know what I mean. so it doesn't matter where Eustace was before he was with Aslan. do you follow me? :-

I'll go along with that. The garden on Dragon Island is on top of a mountain that Eustace had never seen before even though he had flown over the entire island. Aslan's country is a mountain. I don't know how high up the mountain Jill and Eustace were in SC, but it sounds reasonable to say the the garden in VDT is above where they entered in SC.

It seems so wierd though. In MN Polly and Digory fly over mountains to get to Aslan's Country. In VotDT they sail to the end of the world.

Polly and Digory don't go to Aslan's country in MN. The only time someone from our world entered Aslan's country before LB was in SC.

Would this topic be more appropriate in the book section since we seem to be discussing the books rather than the movies?

^I'm just saying it it was Aslans Country (if the garden was there, I mean).

Maybe it would be more appropiate for the TAN section...

I disagree. The fountain and the well sound extremely similar in my opinion.

I think the garden in VDT could very well be in Aslan's country, but the garden in MN is not.

The garden in MN is definitely in Aslan's Country; remember the garden in LB(which is undoubtedly the same as the one in MN, all the way to the peacock in the tree)? That was most definitely in Aslan's Country. Just compare Pauline Baynes's illustrations.

Yes, the garden in LB is in Aslan's country. That doesn't mean the garden in MN is in Aslan's country. In LB, they are in the new Narnia which they entered through the Stable Door. The new Narnia is part of Aslan's country. I forget who says it but that person says something to the effect of they loved the old Narnia because it sometimes looked like the new Narnia. The garden in MN is part of the old Narnia. The new Narnia has all that was good in the old Narnia. Lucy even sees her old bedroom in Cair Paravel when she looked out from the garden. In the old Narnia Cair was destroyed. The garden in LB is the garden in MN in a sense, but it's not actually the same garden, because you can go further up and further in--world within world, Narnia within Narnia. Does that make sense? :)

^well, sort of.:- But you're saying that the "garden in LB is the garden in MN in a sense" and then you say "Yes, the garden in LB is in Aslan's country. That doesn't mean the garden in MN is in Aslan's country" But if they're the same garden, in a sense, why wouldn't they be in the same place? So I'm a little confused. Please forgive my perplexity...I'm a blonde, what can I say? :p

Note to mods: If this topic is in the wrong place, I apoligize. What needs to be done to fix my error? :-s

Mod Note: A_Narnian_Ship has placed this topic in the proper section. Her questions was whether or not you think they will make the garden in MN and the garden in VDT look the same in the movie, not whether or not you believe them to be the same garden in the book.

I'll always be a,

@daughter of the King, thanks, that's a good explanation!

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
