I just saw the description of VDT on the Official Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader Facebook fan page. The unfathomable fate has disappeared!
In this new installment of the blockbuster “The Chronicles of Narnia” motion picture franchise, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their cousin Eustace and their royal friend King Caspian, find themselves swallowed into a painting and on to the Dawn Treader. As they embark on an incredible adventure of destiny and discovery, they confront obstacles beyond imagination.
Obstacles beyond imagination certainly sounds better than unfathomable fate, doesn't it?
By the way, to help spread the word about VDT, join the official fan page here:
this is good news! "obstacles beyond imagination" sounds a lot more like the book! yay!

Ha ha, I read "adventure of destiny and discovery" and for a second thought it said "dentistry and discovery"...
That's interesting that they would use a different summary than used before... I guess we won't know for sure what's going on until we see a trailer (hopefully). 'Obstacles beyond imagination' fits with the book; but then why were we hearing about the unfathomable fate before? It's not like they could change the entire plot of the movie in post-production. But, perhaps the "Fate" summary that we've seen nearly everywhere was never correct to begin with. Who knows? I'm certainly glad to see a plot summary without it.
"Of course we've got to find him (if we can). That's the nuisance of it. It means a search party and endless trouble. Bother Eustace." ~ Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

I think it was just dramatic but vague, and I'm hoping to find it didn't really mean all Narnia was in danger. After all, it was in danger in the last two films!
I'm very glad to lose that phrase!
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
This does sound promising! Hopefully the next time we see a plot summery it will continue in this new vein. That will be even more promising.
"Obstacles beyond imagination" is slightly cliché, but an unimaginable fate is even more so!
"In the end, there is something to which we say: 'This I must do.'"

Yay! It's gone! I hope this movie is going to be good!!!
I'm feeling much better about VDT now. I don't really know why. (Maybe it is because I no longer have to fear an unfathomable fate?)
Movie Aristotle, AKA Risto
I'm thinking that this might have been changed by the blog and not changed officially. This may just be pessimism, but it sounds like sort of an abrupt end to the synopsis with just those words changed.
Rejoice! This is really relieving news.
The "unfathomable fate" was likely just a left-over from a previous script as others have suggested.
Meh, I'm not going to start celebrating a successful adaptation yet because a few words on a website were changed.
Yes this certainly doesn't guarentee a successful adaptation, but it's pretty safe to say all of Narnia isn't depending on the voyage.
Yes just b/c the phrase is changed doesn't mean the movie is going to be any better, but it gives us a little more hope
I'm pretty optimistic that the "unfathomable fate" thing has finally gone away, though I guess we can't be sure until a trailer comes out, and we really can't be sure until the movie comes out (only ten more months! ). But I definitely like this new description better.
"Obstacles beyond imagination" could just mean that "they have to save Narnia(again)and it'll be really, really hard this time."
^^true.....I hope that's not what is is, though, 'cause if they keep doing that with the movies, it's goning to get redundant!
