When I saw the LWW trailer. That was pretty cool, kind of a "whoa there's really gonna be a movie, and good movie too" moment
I would say the first set pictures...the beginning of a masterpiece!
"We have nothing if not belief"
For me... it was probably when the Pevensie actors were announced (July 2004). I had known they were making the movie for about two years, but actually seeing the flesh-and-blood actors who would be playing the parts... amazing moment for me. I remember calling my brother and shouting that they had finally been announced. "Once there were four children whose names were Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy."
Wow, that brings back a lot of memories. NarniaWeb was very different back then. I had only been a NarniaWebber for two months!
Great idea for a poll/thread! I can totally relate to it. It's one thing to know in your head it's gonna happen. But every so often, it hits you that it's for real.
EDIT: Dug into the image gallery to find the first pictures of the four Pevensie actors we ever saw. Wow, what a day that was! I remember pausing for a few minutes to memorize their names, one by one. Isn't that bizarre? There was a time when I actually had to learn their names!
Heh, it was kind of a slow process for fully realizing Narnia was actually going to be filmed for me. I had always loved the books, and Mom was ordering the full collection of the FotF recordings (we had only borrowed half or so from friends before). The woman on the phone taking Mom's order was chatting with Mom about the fact the CD's were a good sale and nonchalantly added that there was a movie in the works. This was around April or May of 2005. I geeked out and threw myself into reading every single Narnia-related book in our library (trust me, there were a lot ). I found the Narnia.com site, yet never found NWeb (that wasn't until around fall of 2007).
I can't recall if I saw the trailer or the production book first, but I do vividly remember the first viewing of both. And both were very awe inspiring moments—the colors, the details, the CGI work.

Good, Good memories! @glumPuddle I'm glad you posted those pictures, those were practically the first pictures I had ever seen on NarniaWeb, it's hard to believe it's been five years.
Then again it's hard for me to believe that it was nearly nine years ago since The Fellowship of the Ring came out, feels like yesterday!

For me it was NarniaWeb. I had heard rumors of a movie, but was not convinced until I read the stories and had seen the pictures posted on NarniaWeb (like those gP noted). Moreover, even after initially logging in, I was skeptical as to how the books would be treated. When I read on NarniaWeb that Douglas Gresham was at the helm, I was able to breath a sigh of relief. While I've not been 100% satisfied with the adaptations to date, I would argue they are the best book to film adaptations ever made by a major film production. Thanks NarniaWeb for getting me excited about the movies!
Lost in the woods and weary he looked into the night sky and a voice spoke to him, "As long as the moon shines, I will be with you. The day the moon no longer shines, you will be with Me."
To me the best adaptation from book to screen is the LWW Disney/Walden. Although there were changes done it did not mess up the story. PC on the other hand blew it too much with the messy thrown in subplots at last minute. Completely and utterly ridiculous
On the other hand thanks for sharing pictures!

Difficult to say for me. I knew the LWW story, but did not read any of the books until after the film came out.
But I voted 'trailer' because as soon as I saw the first trailer, I knew that whatever that was, it was going to be good, and I wanted more.
I went home and told my mother the title of the film, and she hooked me up with the FotF Audio Dramas. I got the books for Christmas, lurked on NWeb for year, and then joined.
Good idea for a topic!
My brother told me that the movie was coming out (I know very unromantic).
always be humble and kind
when I saw the trailer for LWW for the first time I was thrilled! but it was when I first saw the bit in the trailer when Lucy takes the cloth off the wardrobe and then smiles, I was totally happy!
glumPuddle: I agree with you. when I found out who was playing the Pevensies, I was so happy! and I also remember when I had to remember the actor's names! now I don't have to think twice!

2002, September. My mom was frantically searching the internet for any scrap of anything Narnian to get her obsessed daughter for her 13th birthday. To my great fortune she accidentally ran a Yahoo News search instead of a Product search. She saw an announcement that Disney was producing a Narnia film to be released in 2005. I was so excited, beyond belief (they still tell the story of that day), and then i was devastated because I would be taking driver's ed before it came out.

It was the trailer. Ever since reading all the Chronicles years before I'd hoped that someone would make a better film of them. I like, but am not to keen on, the BBC versions. I was a big fan of LOTR and thought "Now why can't Narnia be like that?" I didn't think about checking to see if someone was actually making it, though, and so when I went to see "Revenge of the Sith" I had no idea that the LWW trailer would run in front of it.
I was so excited I didn't talk about anything else for the rest of the day. Hey, I was so excited I haven't talked about anything else for five years ... It's just amazing seeing the stories come to life so vibrantly, and trailers show it so well.
I didn't know until I saw an ad in 2004 on Disney Channel with the movie surfers. I was so happy and was jumping up and down calling up all my friends asking if they saw it. 2 out of 8 saw it

I remembered watching the animated LWW at a summer camp many years ago and as soon as I had found out from a friend that she loved Narnia I went to go see the LWW with her in 2005. I feel in love with Narnia then after I saw it and bought the books to read them afterward.

when I first saw the trailer, I was selling merchandise at Soulfest (a Christian music festival in NH) and they had a Walden Media booth next to the table I was selling merchandise at. needless to say, I was totally happy! and they had a huge screen that showed the trailer over and over and over.....I was there selling merchandise for 8 hours and I saw the trailer a ton of times while I was there! I was so excited!
