Alright, after seeing the movie last night, I came here on to Narniaweb to post my thoughts. However, I have been having a hard time deciding whether I like this film or not.
Most of the trailers and marketing for VDT left me confused. I didn't understand what was going on or why the were doing certain things. There was something weird about it all.
Having seen the film, I feel exactly as I did seeing most of the trailers. I liked some parts, disliked others, but in general just felt confused about it.
For the last few days, I have been saying, "Only X more days until the mystery clears up and the rollercoaster of feelings end." Well, they still haven't ended...
Sometimes I feel like it was a good film, at other times I feel like it was a bad film.
I think the problem was that it went so fast that I had no time to think about what was happening.
Maybe I will have a clearer view of it once I seen the film a few more times.
Does anyone feel the same way?

^^I agree...I still can't decide if the pros outweigh the cons.
I saw the movie....and was disappointed
I love it, but the more I see it, the more I realize that there are so many things they didn't explain, that you only understand if you've read the books or have been following the movie a lot.
The major thing I still don't understand from the movie that I haven't understood all 3 times that I've seen it is when the water nymph is waving at Lucy and is warning her not to do something. I never did get what it is she's warning against, or why.

Before watching the film, I was wondering what in the world the filmmakers were doing. Now I'm still wondering what in the world they were doing. I'm sure as time goes on though I'll be able to come to a decision as to whether or not I like this film.

I think she was trying to warn them not to go in the direction of the dark island because of the danger there.
Yep, I felt the same way as you. I made a youtube video about my experience watching the movie for the first time, and after I come out of the theater, the first thing I say is..."Just finished seeing the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Not sure if I like it or not...I'll have to think about it a while before I can decide."

Exactly. I love the way you put that. I really don't understand a lot of what they were doing. I liked the film. It had enough of a Narnia feel for that but I'm not sure how much I liked it.

I get what you mean. It went so fast and there was so much to get my head round! One minute I'm satisfied with what they did, and other times it's an internal battle with myself to come to a decision about it all.
Ah well. I'm hoping that going to see it again and focusing on the parts I least understood will help me clear it up a bit.

I am a bit on the fence about it. What mainly is bothering me though is that I don't understand why they made the changes they did. It wasn't for time because a lot of the things they changed would have taken the same amount of time if they'd kept them true to the book. For example the whole scene in the library with Lucy. They could easily have kept that along the same lines as the book in the same amount of time, rather than changing what spell she said. I was very disappointed that Aslan didn't show up there either.
The whole dragon thing too, and the Deathwater scene. I don't understand why they made the changes they did from the book where something closer to the book would have just as easily fit and not detracted from the film.
Me too. There were so many things that didn't need to be changed. I can see why they'd do stuff like combining two islands into one, but I didn't understand the changes like Lucy's beauty spell and the seven swords.

No! I am definitely not confused, at least about how I feel about the movie. If I'm actually talking about the movie itself, then, yes, I'm confused. That is why I am not confused about how I feel. I attribute the fact of my confusion to a movie done shabbily, not polished at all. So, in conclusion, I am not confused because the movie was confusing which means it was shabbily done. Confused?

Watziznehm, no I get what your saying. I also am confused about the film itself. i still don't get the green mist/7swords plot.
However, it just took awhile for me to decide my feelings on the film. I think that's because I really wanted to like it and it took me awhile to admit that I didn't (even to myself.)
