Wow! Just logged into Facebook and saw this in my feed. Considering the article from a few days ago, I did not think we could see news like this for some time. Wow...
And I know things are likely to change and take a few years, but this is very positive news for Narnia fans everywhere.
Looking at Mark Gordon's production history. He even produced some of Criminal Minds . Is this a good thing?
Wowser, what a surprise! I definitely have mixed feelings, given the track record for me of the last two Narnia films, but hopefully with a new production company, this will be a fresh start and be a much more faithful adaptation than were PC and VotDT (imho).
If someone asks me which Chronicle is my favourite, I say whichever one I am reading at the time but if I were given no choice but to choose one, The Silver Chair would top the list, so, as I have said elsewhere, They Better Get It Right! (And Puddleglum, dear Puddleglum: can there ever be another Tom Baker in that role?!)
And speaking of our dear Marshwiggle, I guess I can say that I am pessimistically optimistic ... or is that optimistically pessimistic?
Anyway, Further up and further in! To Narnia and the North!

Wow, this is awesome news.
... But the rational side of me says that this will be exactly like The Dawn Treader, based on the kind of movies this guy has been involved in over the years.
But from what I hear it sounds kind of like a passion project for him. Maybe that bodes well, and if Walden isn't involved, I'll be a lot more pleased.
Great news! It's really encouraging that Douglas Gresham will be working on the script as well. I just hope the budget is about on par with the previous films (at least 100 million). Walden media was a small company, same with Mark Gordon Company i guess. Probably another party will step in as co-financier such as Disney and Fox.
Movie will probably take a couple of years but we still got 2 Hobbit films and Legend Of Conan to give us some amazing fantasy epics.
At this point, I don't much care what they turn out; I'll go see it purely for old times sake. I'm over the frustration of what they made of PC and VoDT, but I'm not over Narnia. A cheap, straight to dvd version would probably garner my interest at this point.
But a Narnia film is a Narnia film. I will go see it. And I can't deny that I am feeling like a twelve-year-old girl again, dreaming of Narnia.
Am I the only one thinking of directors and cast and costumes and sets already? It's going to be like old times again... *jumping up and down*
Yep, this completely caught me off-guard, especially since we had news just a couple days ago from Gresham saying, well, nothing had changed.
The Silver Chair is my favorite book in the series and when I heard the news today, my reaction, literally was "Oh". I guess I've become pretty jaded due to the last several, um, less than stellar adaptations of my favorite books.
But I've slowly been warming to the idea today. Especially when I thought about who might be cast as Jill Pole and Puddleglum, my two very favorite characters in the series!
I also went and looked up Mr. Gordon on IMDb. I see he has some hits like The Patriot and Saving Private Ryan, but also some misses like 2012. So it will be interesting.
I am super eager to see who will be cast for SC. Since it' not Walden, I am hoping that is good enough reason to assume Tilda Swinton will not be cast as the Lady of the Green Kirdle. Who will be Eustice?
So am I. Much as I have been grateful for BBC's Silver Chair, the most glaring fault with that series was casting Barbara Kellerman as both the Lady of the Green Kirtle and as Jadis the White Witch. I liked Barbara Kellerman as the Lady of the Green Kirtle, and have no problems with Tilda Swinton as Jadis the White Witch. But I don't want to see either in a new production of Silver Chair. That would be enough to make my hopes at this news 'Kirdle'.
Meanwhile, there seems to be some activity at IMDb's Silver Chair board which was updated on 27 August 2013, over a month ago. The storyline has entries, and production is now 'unknown' rather than 'in development'. However, the board for Magician's Nephew has remained the same.
I wonder if a new production would allow Ben Barnes to reprise his King Caspian role?
I don't see an issue with Will Poulter's age. There are so many films where actors play characters that are meant to be much younger. How many films and shows set in high school are played by 20-somethings? I have no problem with Eustace being portrayed as being a bit older. You want an actor who will do a good job, and if you can keep it the same actor who already played the character and did a good job at it in a previous film, then by all means, I don't think he needs to be the exact age of the character he's playing.
Besides, he's only 20, it's not like he's almost 30 or something. I think he would still look convincing as a kid in school, even if it would mean a Eustace who is older than the one in the book. I don't know, to me having a person be the exact age of the character is too pedantic, I want a good film with good actors, don't need exact age matches.
This link suggests that a new movie is being arranged together with the C.S.Lewis company. This is a quote from that article. I think you will get more news in the next 24 hours as each part of the world passes the 12.00 am deadline.
Said Douglas Gresham, stepson of C.S. Lewis, "I have a great deal of respect for Mark Gordon's work and am confident that together we can bring the beauty and magical delight that Narnia engenders in the hearts of those who read the books to the screen in The Silver Chair. I am very much looking forward to diving once more into Narnia, this time with Mark Gordon and his team."
My NarniaWeb DLFs, I am in shock right now. I'm very happy about this news. I've really missed this site. Sure, it's been around, but it just hasn't been the same. I plan on being a lot more active on the forum for the next movie. I was always checking news, listening to podcasts etc., but I was never a big poster.
Oh, I just realized that Gordon produced Source Code, which was really just an excellent film. My happiness level just went way up
On another note, I really hope they don't try for a "family-friendly!" movie this time around, but rather an actual adaption of the themes and story of the actual books. What I'd really like to know is whether or not Walden is involved. Although perhaps it wouldn't be catastrophic if they are ... the new producer seems pretty passionate about the work and the other producers will be members of the CS Lewis company, and not apparently Walden media.
Charlize Theron for The Lady of the Green Kettle!!
People keep talking about how if Walden Media was involved in this movie, it would be a disaster. I don't think they will be part of the production. Correct me if I'm wrong but Walden downsized or something and are no longer working on producing or financing theatrical films and focusing on TV movies.
I'm really surprised that this didn't just turn out to be a rumor. Well, this is exciting news, then!
I expect that Eustace will be recast and that there will be no acknowledgement of the earlier films, at least for this installment. After the problems of the last two entries, I expect that the production company will want to work from a mostly clean slate.
Also, with respect to the previous screenwriters, I hope that new writers are hired who have more respect for the material this time. (I nominate myself.)

Honestly, I doubt it was the screenwriters' fault. I'm thinking the producers and studio bigwigs pushed them to make a script that was more "family friendly": i.e. simplified, good-vs-evil plot and boring be-yourself moral of the story.
